The Amazing Spider-Man OMG! Josh Hutcherson's Audition! Must SEE!

I didn't like his facial expressions tbh. It just left a bad taste imo.

There's really nothing in that video that shows me he can play Peter Parker. He does the stunts fine, which I think anyone else could as well. So I can't really judge him. The tape itself is cool, and I'm surprised we got to see this, but really he only speaks like two lines.

Oh absolutely. I agree 100% with you,Doctor Jones. I just meant that they have quips at last!!!

Oh, my bad. Although he did quip in the last films, just not as much as people wanted. People act like he didn't quip at all.

Tobey quiped, but it wasn't really Spidey's proper quips you know.

Eh, I thought they were fine. That doesn't bother me. I never thought about the lack of quiping until people actually brought it up. Funny how that goes.

For an audition tape I thought it was fine. Hutcherson may not be Spider-Man but he has opened the gate for other action roles.

In 5 or 10 years, I could see him as the Flash...i dunno why. I just can.

I don't think this had anything to do with the actual film. It is an audition tape, the guy was free to do what he wanted to try and get the role. Although I would have chose something that had nothing to do with the previous films, especially that god awful music.

I literally pray you're right and Sony had nothing to do with this effort.

If they did, that means they are looking to keep this story in high school after all and that's all kinds of bad news. Plus, this can't be part of any script because it would be impossible to have a secret identity after that display. Why would they even film this crap? If I were a producer, I'd be shouting "NEXT" before it was halfway through.

It probably was an audition tape that Hutcherson produced himself and sent in to get Sony's attention.

Hutcherson did say he was using Tobey's performance as a major influence. So I think he did that himself.

If Hutcherson just did that himself, he totally miscalculated. He doesn't act in the scene, so IMO it's not a real audition the way it's intended, and I would just skip over it after I saw it was just stuntwork that demonstrates NOTHING of his acting ability or how he would play the character.

Also, basing his PP off Maguire was probably a mistake, considering this is a reboot and has nothing to do with Tobey Maguire or his performance.

sorry, but what I saw there of his acting was a rehash of Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker. I thought Tobey was a great Peter for what he was going for, but I'd like to see one more like the comic book Parker if they're going to all this trouble for a reboot. And the scene I hope is not in the actual movie, because it looks like a more elaborate (and better choreographed, to be fair) sequence that was in SM1. This just felt like too much rehash, really.

^ Well if Hutcherson just came up with this himself, hopefully that doesn't tell us anything about the approach the actual filmmakers are taking.

Who was the girl that played Mary Jane in that video?! She was cute!

people are aware that he would get the role if WB was not holding hes contract in hes face?

:oldrazz::hehe:

Which is a good thing though, we end up with a better actor. :cwink:

I don't get what people mean when they say, Tobey didn't quip.. because as an actor, doesn't he just basically read and do what the script says? Soo doesn't the fault lie with the script writers?

and btw, Tobey's Spider-Man was much much more better in the games (All 3, regardless of how horrible their movie counterparts are/may have been)..He quipped in those games alot. ..Some of them were actually pretty funny too. They should have hired the writers of the game for the movie in my opinion. :/

I personally dont care for the quips,I found them annoying in The Spectacular Spider-Man,and a reason I disliked that show. Also I didn't like PP.

But I know how important they are to many fans, and they are always present in the comics so its only right Spidey says them. As they are a big part of his character.

Tobey wasn't the definitive Spider-Man by any means, but he is the Spider-Man I grew up with since I was 11 to 16,so I dont care that he never quipped.

I know Andrew will be a more faithful Spidey, but if he doesn't make me care for him the way that Tobey did and the 616 comic Spider-Man does, and is more like that obnoxious brat of both Ultimate and SSM,then Im going to have a MAJOR problem.

you already have a major problem. you don't like spider-man for who he is. you like the lifeless spider-man. the spectacular spider-man is the closest to the original spidey and you didn't like it. i didn't know that was possible.

There's only one regret that I've about the high school decision. He gets bitten by the spider in high school. I would want Peter Parker to be in College but reboot means that he would have to be in high school yet again. Could they pull off a skilled flashback? They have to stay true to the comics or else what's the sense in making the movie to begin with?

:awesome:

Was that girl playing MJ, because she was dressed up more as Gwen Stacy. The wire work looked cool, but Hutcherson was too much of a Tobey retread in his delivery and facial expressions.

Actually, the 60s spidey cartoon is the closest, it's just that it was crudely made.
