Awesome man! I had no idea they were doing this.

$23.09-That's a great price.

Wonder how many volumes they are going to have. Just ONE issue from Amazing Spider-Man hardly covers the Clone Saga.

Yeah, that seems like a not very complete collection. It's advertised on Amazon as "Spider-Man: The Complete Clone Saga Epic Book 1 TPB (Spider-Man (Graphic Novels)) by J. M. DeMatteis." Presumably, a "Book 1" implies a "Book 2" or more. Maybe it will depend on how the first volume sells. Still, seems kind of a wacky way to do it. Maybe the last volume will include the new "true" version of the clone saga.

Wasnt the "true" version of the clone saga supposed to place Ben as the real peter parker?

Well, DeFalco has offered two different stories: one that Ben was supposed to replace Pete, and Pete and MJ would become "Ben and Mary Reilly" and "retire" to Seattle with the new baby. Ben would prove to be the "real" Peter Parker and would resume his career as S-M. At other times, however, DeFalco has said that they planned all along to have Pete be the one, true S-M and Ben would either get his own book (if he proved popular enough) or would just disappear, but not die. So, given the conflicts about the origin, I'm curious to see what happens. Thus far, I've not been wildly impressed with the story, but I am really interested in seeing which of the apocraphyl "true" endings wins out!

Even though the classic Spider-man #75 is my favorite issue of all time, i feel like they didnt have to kill Ben. They coulda had him just move out the country and never come back. I think at the time the editorial just felt so frustrated with how long they drew it out that they felt they had to kill Ben to put a "definitive" cap on the clone saga. Its too bad. Ben would've been an awesome character to keep around. He'd be one of those characters that, every once in a while, would reappear and maybe help Pete out. Personally, I kept expecting to see Ben pop back up during Civil War and slap some sense into Peter about what true responsibility is. That would've been a great story.

He had to die for two reasons.
First to die physically prove to be a clone by disintegrating. Secondly, because heroic sacrifice is a good plot device.

I will buy this TPB for sure. I have all comics about the original Clone Saga, but I love the story very much (just until Peter the Spider-Man and Ben the clone), so I'll buy every volume until the Amazing #407.
