Once Upon A Time In Wonderland

They wouldn't be making this announcement if the show were in any imminent danger of being yanked from the air.

A few weeks ago, I would've agreed, but just a few days before Welcome to the Family was canned, they announced Yvette Nichole Brown would be guest starring.

And they announced Whoopi guest starring on 666 Park Ave shortly before it was announced to be ending as well.

So I guess I am going to be the one to say this first: SARLACC!!! WTF, DISNEY? Unless of course a Sarlacc is from WONDERLAND and ole George just liked the sound of it.

Now that, that is out of the way... This was a good episode and I liked the adventure of it all. Plus, the SFX were pretty damned impressive. Best on the show so far. And of course linking Wil to the FTL was known ahead of time but his story was not exactly what I suspected, (even if the ID of Anastasia was). I thought he was a native. Oh well. Still nice to see some direct connection to OUAT proper. In fact the events in FTL have given me some ideas about how Maleficent should be used in future episodes of the mother show.

All in all this ep had some pathos and of course some good revelations about our man Wil. I hope others think so, as the show needs the help.

Did either of those shows have firm, already-announced commitments from ABC when they were cancelled? Because OUaTiW does, which leads me to very strongly believe that the show's not going anywhere until it finishes its full order of episodes.

Knew as soon as I saw blonde hair and a lack of face that Knave's girl would be the Red Queen. Hope the show sticks around long enough to show what happened between them as soon as they arrived.

I could have sworn I heard Hershey was going to show up at some point. Does anyone know if that's true? If so, then is it possible that the Red Queen became her apprentice, or something similar? If so, then a showdown between the Red Queen and Regina would be delicious.

Adam and Eddy have repeatedly said that they want Barbara involved, but no formal announcement has been made regarding her involvement. Even so, I think it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that she'll appear at some point even if there's no formal announcement made about her showing up.

As for Anastasia/The Red Queen being a protoge of Cora, the viability of that happening is dependent on the exact timeline of the flashbacks we've seen.

Well I hope we do get some kind of picture as to how the past of Alice and the whole gang relates to OUAT proper. At least if Hershey is relegated to WL flashbacks it's more likely she will be on the show, what with her and Andrews past and all.

Well the red queen claims she took the kingdom. And thus far has not shown she has any magic abilities. Grendel said she turned him that way but didn't say how.

From the look of the castle i assume the kingdom she took was not cora's but probably the white queen's. Considering both are based on chess pieces rather than playing cards

I do however ponder why the knave of hearts is called such unless he was knave to cora

Hasn't the Red Queen shown magical power? I could have sworn that she has. She just is not quite on Jafar's level. Can someone set me straight?

Based on what we've seen thus far, Wonderland seems to be one gigantic kingdom with a bunch of different locations in it, not a sprawling land full of different places and individual kingdoms the way that the Enchanted Forest is, so I think it's safe to assume that when the Red Queen says she 'took the kingdom', she's talking about Wonderland as a whole and not any one particular part of it, and she would've had more than enough time to build her own castle after seizing control of Wonderland in Cora's wake (which, given that we know OUaTiW is ostensibly supposed to take place post-Curse [i.e. concurrent with at least one of OUaT's 3 seasons], is very likely what happened even if she first arrived in Wonderland while Cora was still in power).

We know she used power of some kind to throw Cyrus off of the cliff above the Boiling Sea (as seen in the pilot), but we don't know whether or not that means she herself has magic the way that Jafar does or if it's just something she was able to naturally do because of the fact that Wonderland itself is inherently magical.

Thanks. I thought I remembered her doing that. For myself, I assume she has magic and it's what is keeping her in power in WL.

If she has magic she rarely uses it or isn't very powerful. Or we'd have seen her attempt to use it against jafar ESPECIALLY if she learned from Cora

My guess.... She some how caused Cora to be sent back to the Enchanted Forest

The question amongst time is how long was cora in wonderland and how it syncs up

Cora went back to the Enchanted Forest of her own free will in conspiracy with Hook, faking her own death so that she could be reunited with her daughter Regina, casting the 'safe haven' spell that kept part of the Enchanted Forest more or less protected from the Dark Curse and ensuring that the reunion and reconciliation she desperately wanted with her daughter would happen.

Given that the Red Queen hasn't tried to use magic against Jafar, I'd say that whatever magic she's able to do is because of Wonderland itself and not something she herself can or learned to do and would therefore be easily turned aside, which is why she hasn't tried to take that particular tack with him.

(Tennant Doctor voice) Well...

She could have had her "lessons" cut short by Cora's return to FTL. It would be reasonable then that she is not as adept as Cora or Regina. What ever the case, I think she has some kind of magical power. If not, I would think Jafar would have used his magic to force the location of the bottle out of her as soon as she revealed it, as I assume he would anyone who had something he wanted and no way to defend themselves. Or I could be totally wrong. :woot:

this was a good episode. The one thing where it trumps Once is imagination and creativity. Wonderland is what I was expecting of FTL/Enchanted Forest. Lots of different creatures and places.

I just hope that power is what corrupted Anatasia turning her into the Red Queen. And hopefully she has more up her sleeves that makes her more dangerous. While I would love an episode dedicated to the two queens of Wonderland, unless this gets a pickup beyond its initial order, I dont think it will happen.

I actually would love to see some elements of WONDERLAND folded into OUAT proper if they don't get to tie everything up. I mean, Jafar is talking about overturning the nature of magic in some way. That's big. I would hate to be left twisting in the wind on something like that.

Given the circumstances surrounding OUaTiW, I honestly don't think ABC is going to pull the show from the air, so we likely will see its story wrapped up as planned, but I also wouldn't be surprised if the PTBs find a way to keep working with the cast in some fashion on the parent show once OUaTiW concludes its self-contained run.

How many episodes aired last nite? Just one or was it two?

Once Upon A Time In Wonderland - Episode 1.05 - Heart of Stone - Press Release
Posted by DarkUFO at Monday, October 28, 2013

WILL SCARLET AND ANASTASIA JUMP THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS IN SEARCH OF A NEW LIFE THAT LEADS TO AN ALTERING DECISION, WHILE CYRUS EXECUTES HIS ESCAPE FROM JAFAR’S CASTLE, ON ABC’S “ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND”

“Heart of Stone” – In a flashback, Will Scarlet and Anastasia jump through the looking glass to enter Wonderland against her mother’s wishes, since she disapproves of Will. They both soon realize that life in Wonderland isn’t exactly what they had both imagined. After being humiliated while attending a ball at the palace, Ana convinces Will to steal the crown jewels in order to get them out of poverty, but in an instant, Ana is caught red handed by the King who makes her a proposition she can’t refuse – to marry him and be his Queen to avoid prosecution. Meanwhile, in current Wonderland, the Red Queen convinces Alice to help her acquire magic dust in exchange for information about Cyrus, who in turn has managed to skillfully escape Jafar’s castle leaving the White Rabbit in a compromising situation, on “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland,” THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 14 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

“Once Upon a Time in Wonderland” stars Sophie Lowe as Alice, Michael Socha as Knave of Hearts, Peter Gadiot as Cyrus, Emma Rigby as The Red Queen with Naveen Andrews as Jafar and John Lithgow as the voice of the White Rabbit.

“Heart of Stone” guest stars include Hugo Steele as Orang, Brian George as Old Prisoner, Matty Finochio as Tweedle #1 and Ben Cotton as Tweedle #2.

“Heart of Stone” was written by Katie Wech and directed by Paul Edwards.

So it appears there is indeed multiple castles/kingdoms in wondering then

I finally caught up with the latest episode yesterday and I'm not sure about the series' future, at least for me.

The story is trying, it's clearly OUAT-inspired but it isn't inspiring. I feel bored by it.

There are some great aspects (Naveen Andrews/Jafar, John Lithgow/White Rabbit) but Alice, the Red Queen and sometimes the Knave all kind are disinteresting to me, and they're the main characters.

The character Cyrus is okay but he's sitting in a cage so there's not much to go on there either way. The caterpillar and his den were interesting but still the equivalent of a Mos Eisley "hive of scum and villainy."

Bandersnatch was a pig, not a catlike creature which I always kind of pictured it as. Grendel was just a deformed man, unimpressive.

I'm not ready to give up yet. There is hope yet it will become more interesting with the promised plans of the future but getting there has left me wondering where the wonder is. :oldrazz:
