One in five Brits think lightsabers are real

Um, lightsabres do exist. You can buy them at toy stores and hobby shops everywhere. The beams are made of plastic and/or fiberglass and they can't cut butter, but they exist.

"0 out of 5 Americans believe the Lightsabre is real."

My point is, the people who said they're real were probably thinking of toy & model lightsabres.

Well, at least now whenever I see a "Americans are idiots/morons/fat" the reply can be "Well, at least we don't believe lightsabers exist."

They also think the Royal Welfare Wedding is newsworthy. The Royals are the world's richest welfare family, living off the state without working for anything.

A friend of mine tried to make a lightsabre with a flourescent light once. it was kind of cool.

haha exactly, cant wait for the next "dumb yanks" comment. :o

I call BS you always here these people come out with x amount of the population think this but the pool of people they ask is always small and lacking diversity.

Royal wedding is news in alot of countries but its not headline news even here in Britain and not everyone in Britain loves the royal family in fact plenty of people are leaving the country and going on vacation when the wedding takes place to avoid it.

I'm not a monarchist but they do work. The Queen is basically the equivalent of a diplomat/town mayor - meeting with foriegn dignitaries, opening hospitals ect. Her husband Prince Phillip has his Princes trust charity working with young people.

Prince Andrew is a former Royal Airforce pilot (he served in the falklands) his now British trade ambassador which he isn't paid for. Prince Edward runs media company. Princess Anne is a former equestrian and eventing rider having competed in the olympics. She does alot of charity work in africa.

Prince Harry is in the Army. Prince William is a search and rescue pilot in wales he lives on base.

62 pence a year from everyone in the UK goes to pay for the Royal Family. Thats about 1 US Dollar a year. The Royal Family pay taxes as well.

Yes, just because 1 in 5 Brits think Lightsabers are real (They were probably thinking of the toys) means they're as dumb or dumber than Americans.

We take what we can get. :csad:

I can see the gravity of situations. Who can't?

They probably asked 10 people at a sci-fi convention, who only said yes for a laugh

Perhaps inspired by TV favourites such as Doctor Who and Ashes to Ashes, nearly a third of Britons (30%) believe that time travel is actually possible. The results were revealed in a survey, launched at the start of National Science and Engineering Week (11-20 March) by Birmingham Science City (www.birminghamsciencecity.co.uk), which aimed to see just how blurred the lines between science and fiction really are.

Other findings included:
1. Over a fifth of adults incorrectly believe light sabres exist.
2. Nearly a quarter (24%) of people are wrong in their belief that humans can be teleported.
3. Nearly 50% of adults wrongly believe that memory-erasing technology exists.
4. More than 40% of people incorrectly believe that hover boards exist.
5. Nearly one fifth (18%) of adults have the incorrect view that they can see gravity.

However, when you consider some of the scientific advances being made across the world today, it is not surprising that sometimes people get their science fiction and science fact confused.

Time travel is possible, just not in the way it is presented in science fiction.

i wonder how many britons lie on surveys for ****s and giggles.

All that Doctor Who is taking a toll on them

I toldja so...

silly brits. :hrt:
