Ugh....part of me is excited to read this, the other part of me is VERY AFRAID of what they're gonna do to the marriage in OMD.

I have a feeling my excitement is gonna change into pure annoyance at some point in OMD.

That's pretty much the feeling of all Spidey fans here, I think.

Has anyone noticed, even with the people, (like me,) who will try and stay on for a while if they retcon the marriage, this is pretty much the 1st time I've seen EVERYONE on the Spidey section of the Hype! be in agreement on a subject.

That didn't even happen with Sins Past!

And I've been visiting these boards since it was Spider-Man Hype!

Hmm. Those few pages are very interesting. I wonder who he could be going to with a bottomless check book? Surely he wouldn't think of going to Tony?

The preview pages featuring Iron Man makes me want to say Tony as well, but what'd make the most sense would be Kingpin; with Peter promising his life depended on Aunt May's survival, I would think he'd be more than willing to keep her alive.

I'm sorry I can't be the only one who thinks JMS's narration is overwrought and melodramatic. Almost corny even.

C'mon... if I saw that in a novel I would laugh and put it back on the shelf.

Also (and this isn't really a critique, just an observation) is it just me or does Peter on the first panel on the 3rd page sorta resemble that guy from that bad 80's A-ha music video "Take on Me"? Uhhh... maybe that's just me.

I'm still dreading it. I may actually make a special trip to the Comic Book Shop just to read this one. Of course, I'm still "on the fence" about buying it.

How far back in "Brand New Day" going to be pushed back because of the delays? I'm willing to bet we don't get to see Slott on Spidey until AT LEAST January.

I tend to agree. It could be the inker or being out of practice... maybe a combination of both, but from what I've seen I preferred his Daredevil work.

You know honestly I'm having Amazing Spider-man flashbacks to the first time May was on the verge of death before that was retconned, thanks to the Clone Saga.

Sheesh, they really must be running out of ideas. Either that or J.M.S. and Quesada think their god's gift to Marvel.

Read the issue today (got it early in the mail).

My opinion:

Like some other posters have express, I am EXTREMELY excited to read this and I was overjoyed that it had come in the mail today. At the same time, I'm a bit worried about what will happen with the Peter/MJ marriage...but I have my doubts it will end. It's been alluded to too much and won't hold any emotional value because everyone was expecting it.

Now, as to if this is the end of Aunt May or not...I'm undecided. I could see it going either way, both being an emotional experience.

Overall, I really enjoyed the issue and enjoyed Joe Q.'s art. Especially the last two-page spread I'm looking forward to the (delayed) release of Part 2. Call Civil War and it's changes what you may, but this story, in spite of the unmasking, is shaping up to be solid. At least Peter is saying how stupid the unmasking is...

I smell retcon...

Does anyone at Marvel really care about telling a decent Spider-man story anymore. All this stuff is nonsense. All of it. Sins Past didn't work. The OTher didn't work. The unmasking was pointless and wasted the great opportunity that could be done better.After this 'history eraser' Spider-man won't have a history anymore. None. Zero. It will be 'did that happen?' or 'Is Eddie Brock Venom?' What is the point?

This book will suck....I just had a birthday and I got a gift certificate to a comic shope, quite a bit of $$$. Maybe I should buy this book, scan it and post ALL of it online and that way, people can read it for free.

In your face Joey Q!!! Don't mess with Spider-Fans! I don't know, I'm still sticking with Operation Stick it to the Man, but....maybe I'll use that money to buy this entire Arc and post it on here...that'd Peeve Joey Q.
