Dammit! This is all making Peter more of a loser in my eyes. Why can't he grow a god damn pair?!

And people said he cried too much in SM3. At least he did **** about it.

Oy, this story has gone from dread to full on hatred for me...but i have to read it to the end because if and when it ends the marriage I can say I am done with spidey comics and pretend it ended somewhere before Sins Past now.

If the stories are good and within acceptable characterization, then things will be fine.

Nobody wanted to see Gwen die in 1973, but it turned out to be one hell of a good story.

Perhaps the Parker marriage may end in 2007... if so, I hope it's one hell of a good story.

'Nuff said!

:yay:

Thank you god for Ultimate Spider-Man.
Yeah, thank god for a character who only just aged one year after 100 issues. Thank god for a character who will basicaally stay forever young. Seriously, dude, the concept is lame.

???

Yes. Well, I see you agree with me then that they should end 616 Spider-Man or atleast restart it in someway....because Spider-Man will grow too old to be cared about...

ha. The reason most Old-time and Nu marvel fans even like spider-man is because he is one of the few characters that actually progressed as a character. Spider-man will never get old if the writers don't want him to, But he can not be stuck at a never aging stasis.

Saying that, I will never say Ultamate spider-man should go away. People like it for a reason. Odd as they are, they still like it.

Ultimate Spider-Man is a *****e, Nuff said.
The book is a lame knock off, and ‘Spidey’ is a complete *****.

As for Spider-Man growing too old to be cared about, yeah that makes a lot of sense.
We will never see Peter get to 50 or whatever, but as COMICBOY pointed out one of the things that makes SM/PP such a great character is that he progresses (albeit very slowly) through life and ages.
At least thus far he has aged 10-15 years of 616 time since AF#15.

Since 2004 ASM has been on pretty shaky ground, but w/ the advent of JMS imminently leaving the book and Dan Slott, JR JR and McNiven about to join there is a lot to be optimistic about post OMD. Hopefully ASM will find it's feet again. Not to mention the Loeb/JSC series hitting stands next year!

okay. i've avoided this thread for a while, wanting to be surprised when i finally got to read OMD, but i couldn't resist it tonight, so i read through this entire thread and i've found myself pondering a single question:

if Spidey can go back in time . . . why stop at the shooter? why not, say, go back and prevent the Civil War from happening? that way, he could save May, his secret identity, Captain America, and hundreds of children! i guess that would be too much for the entire Marvel universe, but it makes more sense for him to do that. but with the "grand scheme" in mind, having him just go back and prevent the shooter from shooting just seems kind of selfish. i mean, really, how many times do you get to go back in time and change the course of history?

Surely you can't be serious?

ScottishFogg- 'I am serious and don't call me Shirley'

You mean the last five or so pages right?, not the WHOLE thread in one evening?!

I do the same thing. I can't post in most threads unless I know what's going on, so I read every page. Even if it's 80... I have too much time on my hands.:(

Sheesh man, Ill read the last 5 or so pages if I have not posted recetly, that's about it.

I was thinking about this at work today. And what's annoying me about OMD is that we all know what's going to happen by the end of Part 4.

Having read "Swing Shift" has dampened my enthusiasm for this story. So maybe giving us a glimpse of future Spidey continuity was a mistake.

That said, I can't wait for the Brand New Day era to come into effect.

I finally got One More Day, going to read it right now :yay:
Also got Amazing Spider-Man #258 LOL

The first part to OMD was absolute crap. I don't think there is any way possible to make the issue any more lackluster then it already was. Damn it was boring. If this is any indication of what's to come from this supposed "epic" storyline we are all in for a very long dreadful ride.

I think we all DO know pretty much what's gonna happen with this ARC, which does stink...

Aunt May will die.

Pete and MJ together will make a big decision, together, that will give Pete something (supposedly) special...one more day...(with aunt may?)...but the cost will be high, as it will alter things greatly.

MJ (and many others will be tragically mindwiped-restoring the secret identity which is GOOD...but ruining other parts of Pete's life which he may or may not forsee coming...)

MJ won't know she is married to Pete, and possibly vice versa.

Time/reality will somehow be altered so that MJ is still alive but not the same MJ we've always known...she'll be a crime fighter named JACKPOT.

Pete will date people and JQ will restore love triangles to Spider-Man, which he feels is an INTEGRAL part of Spider-Man stories, where he feels MARRIAGE is not. :whatever:

Wow, I completely disagree. I did not, in away way, find part one "crap." It was a set-up issue, like most number ones. I don't get why people always need a big bang to happen for them to be interested in anything. It's really actually annoying, really, which is why it makes me stay away from most comics.
