I just don't see it as him acting like a DORK there at all,...i see it as a guy who wants to be faithful to his wife, and moral (which Pete is). THAT'S what makes Pete cool. In this scene, Pete is (in a funny over the top way) protecting himself so that he won't do something he'd regret, or no longer be bugged by this trampy type girl being paid to act that way, who is not his type to begin with. That scene makes me applaud him, and chuckle, but that's just my opinion.

How would you've personally liked him to react there??

Seconded

Third! I agree. Peter is playing really cool here. Real loyal and faithful to his wife. Which is what every wife wants in a husband, standards I live up to with my wife. If I was in Pete's shoes, I do the same thing to this knockout, because I have a better understanding love with my wife (who also is a knockout btw.) True love, rather then a fling that could cause some trouble.

Well, I expected him to refuse her advances ofcourse, just not in such the lame way that he did. The way he put up the spider-web and the line after was just pure dorkiness. I'm not complaining about him refusing the advances but the way he did it.

I think you're misinterpriting me. Its not the fact that he refused her advances, but the dorky way he did it.

Oh okay, well on that matter.

Actually, I thought it was quite funny!

I mean, if you think its funny...okay. But you gotta admit, it was very dorky and I hated it for that. Peter Parker never usually acts like a dork when the mask is on. Well, atleast before the year 2000. 90's, 80's, 70's Spider-man was basically a different person from Peter when the mask is on.

Well, y'all already know MY opinion... but let me agree again! Not MY definition of a dork at all! Au contraire!

And this is coming from someone who is a little sensitive to them making Peter look weak or lame (can you say "New Avengers")... THIS is not that. I think he is adorable and VERY cool here! For all his faults JMS writes a good Peter and MJ. I think there is a consensus on that.

Beg to disagree. Not dorky... He was being deliciously moral in a smart-alecky way. Typical IMO. ;)

I could show you example after example where Peter is the serious one and Spidey is a total cut-up and smart-ass.

I think JMS nailed it most of the time... but the way Bendis tried to write that characteristic in NA missed it... a lot. I got disgusted and dropped the book because Spidey looked whiney and lame... with not much to balance it out. Also found out I'm not keen on team-ups.

The Hydra arc was the only semi team-up I really liked... but JMS made Peter look smart and heroic, while being genuinely funny.

Huh... one would think I LIKED JMS... he DID write some great dialog and Peter/MJ scenes... but I think his offenses (like desecrating core Spider-Man characters and mythos) outweigh those strengths.

You know if you just assume that Sins Past was Quesada's brainchild, then JMS' run seems a lot more appealing.

I guess we'll just have agree to disagree at this point then. But I thought JMS Spider-man jokes were almost as bad as Bendis. I honestly just wish Slott would right Spidey.
I loved the
"Please, can you guys think of me for once? Spidey Captures lame half of the Sinister Syndicate. Hows that going to look in tomorrows daily Bugle?"

Its sarcastic. Its condescending/egotistical. Its Spider-man. The character that turned me into a fanboy.:woot:

If you remember JMS run in the beginning when fighting Mourlon....spelling (lazy to look it up). He did quite of bit of talking back

Mourlon: "I like you...your funny."
Spidey: "Don't tell me, tell Letterman."

Spidey: "Y..You wouldn't happen to have a can of spinnach back there would you?"
Bartender: "uhh um.."
Spidey: "Didn't think so, no one watches cartoons anymore."

Spidey: "So can I drop you off anywhere?"
Woman: "screams"
Spidey: "S'funny, I have that effect on women."

Spidey: "And I love you to."
Cop: "Beat it or I'll call ya in."
Spidey: "And I love the street, and the people, and the trash can, and that woman...HEY, THAT'S NO WOMAN!"

*at airport*
Spidey: "So, where were we?"
MJ: "This is ridiculous. I thought dinner, champain.."
Spidey: "There's a bag of peanuts over there."

Spidey: "Cap, I like you to meet Mary Jane. Mary Jane? Captain America."
Cap: "Hello."
MJ: "um..uh..hi?"
Cap: *looks at Spidey* "A word from the wise. The mask hides your face, don't let it hide your heart." *walks away smiling*
Spidey: "Who was that masked man?"
MJ: "I am so gonna hurt you."

See..JMS had his moments...and that's just a few.

Trust me....70's. :p

The "One More Day" covers sport the 60's corner box prominently, with no banner across the top. So it's more a fusion of 60's and 70's styles I think.

I wish Marvel would adopt corner boxes again. :csad:

Ha! Those are great. :woot: You should post those over on the "Funniest..." thread. It's still here somewhere...

Yup. I feel Bendis tries to hard, while JMS' spidey, and writing as a whole, are smart. (Clever)

When did Spidey turn into a self-depreciating goofball? :ninja:

Paris I think should be an exception to the rule, her dieing would not be such a bad thing.

hurrah for web of Spider-Man #1.

Anyway, I'm excited for this, maybe because I just picked up this book.

At least OMD's "Maximum Marriage" will only be a 4 part crossover...and not 12 or 24....tho it will prolly be an ongoing after that...lol...

From Marvel.com:
The hottest, most controversial storyline to hit Spider-Man is coming next month. Are you ready? Get into the mind of Marvel EiC, and One More Day artist, Joe Quesada for hints as to what lies in store for Peter. Also, as an added treat, Joe takes you through his personal sketchbook to see how he reinvented his style and gives a master class on penciling for comics today. This is a book no Spider-Man fan, aspiring artist, or anyone with a pulse can afford to miss!!

*gets inside his head*
...burgers, fries, supersize, marshmellows, bagels, coffee, steak...

Joe takes you through his personal sketchbook to see how he reinvented his style and gives a master class on penciling for comics today.

HE HAS A STYLE?! How can your reinvent CRAP?! What? Is he calling us on his new comcast digital voice now? Instead of crap it's craptastic!

This is a book no Spider-Man fan, aspiring artist, or anyone with a pulse can afford to miss!!

It SHOULD SAY...

This is NO book A Spider-Man fan, aspiring artist, or anyone with a pulse or brain can afford because it's freaking $3.99!!!

Yeh...but...someone is gonna take a dirt nap...!!...isn't all the hype getting you all jittery and giddy inside?...you should WANT to see what JQ's gonna try this time regarding MJ and Pete...lol...

This "Maximum Marriage Arc" (OMD) and beyond is gonna rock the house.

:cwink: :whatever:

Seriously tho, i am CURIOUS after all the talk (JQ) what he IS going to do.

Hope it isn't too cheesy. I am not gung ho for any mindwipes, timesweeps, magical amnesia, etc.

Joey Q's art was pretty good back in the day...

I still remember that cover to X-O Manowar #0... :word: :word: :word:

But these previews certainly don't look like his old self...

:csad:

Has there been any NEW quotes anywhere, links, news, etc on OMD...recently?

Things seem to have gotten quite quiet on that front, while for awhile it seemed like JQ was commenting on it, and giving us little hints about OMD quite often.

Maybe he is too busy penciling his Maximum Marriage Arc to even comment on it lately...?

I dunno.

Anyone have any NEW news/speculation from anyone at Marvel on this upcoming event...?

Whoever those villains are, they look lame.

Ugly Mary Jane! Creeper Ben Urich! Weirdo JJJ!
