I'm not liking this cover much either...I liked the other two and the promo pieces that Q has done for the storyline...but this is just...yucky :(

Spidey looks like he has the mumps :(:(

Honestly, I thought is was Daredevil.

i liked when they used to colour MJ's hair actually red instead of orange

orange is stupid, which is why I hated when MJ and Peter went to schoo in the 90'sl, her hair was orange. And in Spider-girl, and in a lot of other crap, but I'll deal.

What happens to Spidey' head?
ROTFL!

I had the same reaction only it went something like, "What the H*LL is wrong with Spidey's head?!" Looks like he got stung by a bee...:huh:

As for the other people on that cover, who knows... the red head CANNOT be Mary Jane. MJ is not ugly.

Something about the art is a little freaky... creepy... and I don't really get into stories when the art bugs me. I'm also not typically into stories in which beloved characters take "dirt naps" either. :( :mad:

Let's see...

Don't like creepy, weird art;
Don't like "dirt naps" for main characters;
Don't want Aunt May to die;
Don't want anything to wipe out the marriage;
Don't want MJ to forget Peter;
Don't want to read a story that "fixes" the marriage JQ style;
Don't want MJ to become another lame female "superhero";
Don't want to read a "controversial" (read convoluted) story that takes Peter backwards;
Don't want to read a "controversial" story that makes me cry;
Don't want to read a "controversial" story that makes me sick...

So what are the odds I'll still be reading after October?

Yea, I'm thinking that OMD is going to make me decide whether I continue picking up the regular Spidey titles or dropping them :(

I guess if I drop, it'll be good cuz the amount of money I spend on junk is crazy and I've been looking for a reason to cut back on my comics, as sad as it is for me :(

Well said.....i feel the exact same as you. I'm not into highly advertised dirt naps either...or frumpy headed spider-men...lol...oy. :csad:

I'm thinking the same thing...

But since there is only going to be ONE Spider-man title to "choose" from after OMD wraps up, it'll be all or nothing with Spidey.

I think they KNOW One More Day is going to generate "controversy" (read, "hate mail from fans"), which is one of the reasons they are eliminating other titles... adding characters... smoke and mirrors... desperate distractions... hoping people WON'T leave.

But I have news for them...

It's real simple for me. They mess up the marriage... they make Peter single again and I am dropping the whole fiasco. :( :mad:

They have to KNOW that MOST current fans don't want that... are in favor of Peter being with MJ... so to distroy that, however creatively, is just blantant disrespect. They think they are just going to generate more fans... but I just see a huge debacle. :(

I spend A LOT on Spider-Man, but if JQ and company wants to give me the finger (metaphorically speaking) they can do without my support. And I hope they fall on their smug little faces. :mad:

:heart: :heart: :heart: You rock Captivated. I'm behind ya 110%! Screw JQ!

I'm not sure if this is a spoiler or not........
Is it possible the pic is indicating that it isn't Peter under the mask but rather a skrull?....see latest New Avengers ish

Way I see it,- Ill call it once it's bin read.
I'm digging the freaky JQ pencils right now tho.

LOL. So it's
One more day for the skrull impostor to be Spidey? :woot:

Here Here! :up:

Yea, the big thing with me is the decision with the marriage too. If they do away with MJ and the marriage, I'm done with 616 Spidey :( That'll mean my long ASM run is put to rest :(

The sad thing is, despite how many vocal people there are for a single PP, I have a feeling that the numbers will drop on the Spidey title and then management will have to go back and bring MJ and the marriage back all over again. They've already tried it once with the whole reboot, and it didn't work very well if I recall correctly.

^

I had a feeling I wasn't alone in my sentiments. :cwink:

Over the years I've seen polls and comments and I would wager hard-cold-cash that the majority are in favor of Peter and MJ being together. So what a DISS to have the opposite forced on us. :mad:

I will say that even though JQ has said this will settle the "issue" of the marriage for good, we know that's not true. I think he's hoping for lots of controversy with this story, (generating $$$). And then, I can see it now... after he's pissed off everyone, and sales plummet, he'll start spreading rumors that Peter and MJ might find each other again... and people will hang on to see what happens (more $$$).

:mad:

Geesh. It's one gimmick after another, isn't it.

I can look back at the huge volumn of Spider-Man stories and realize it doesn't have to be that way... My top 10 are just great stories... some pretty simple.

So then this must be a gimmick, too? :rolleyes:

It caused controversy, and of course people wanted to know the aftermath...yet this story is viewed by millions of Spidey fans (including myself) as a classic.

I don't think Captivated meant that the death of Gwen story was a gimmick, as she has stayed dead since (other then the Gwen clones running around)...

She meant that the OMD 'event' is based solely on the speculation of how Marvel will treat the marriage...and if they decide to end the marriage, there might be outcry and maybe lost sales from longtime fans...and in response, Marvel has to backtrack and build or hype another mini event or story that will reconcile Pete and MJ again.

None of that can be said about the death of Gwen or Norman?

None of that can be said about the death of Gwen or Norman?

Good point! Undoubtedly there was an outcry from long reading fans who were very supportive of the Peter/Gwen relationship. Or perhaps there were those who saw killing GG as a blow to the Spidey fanbase.

Either way, the story is still considered brilliant. And how many spin-offs have there been or other takes on Gwen's death that "keeps her alive" in the minds of readers? Norman has been brought back. Heaven knows how many stories Norman Osborn has been involved in.

As Spidey said in Blue: "Bad before good." All I'm saying is though you may consider OMD to be "bad"...there could come some good from it. Just as fans may have considered Gwen's death "bad", there are some great reflective moments told in numerous stories (that's the good.)

I think Joe Q. made a good point at Wizard World Phillie. He said that we can't pretend like this is the 70's or 80's and just not move forward in comics. You think Stan would want the character to stay the exact same way as he was in the 60's?

My .02. Whatever.

MRE: None of that can be said about the death of Gwen or Norman?

^From someone who was there during Gwen's death......it didn't "feel" at all anything like that which is related to the upcoming OMD.

OMD (or "Maximum Marriage", which i prefer to call it :woot: ) is a story arc that has been overly hyped, dramatized, and speculated about. JQ has talked about it for months, if not a year ahead of time....dropping clues constantly about his hate for the marriage, how it will resolve it, and his feelings on every possible angle of getting rid of what he calls a "marriage controversy"...and his desire to seperate MJ from Pete one way or another.

However, i don't think most fans even KNEW there was such a thing (a marriage controversy) until JQ enlightened us with that fact.

Gwen's death was much more a surprise.

Nor did they disrespect Gwen, by over sensationalizing the death with (Words that sound like someone is trying too hard to be "hip")...like...WHO WILL TAKE A DIRT NAP......or.......WHO WILLL GET THROWN UNDER THE BUS?..and etc.

If you follow the history of links on this...JQ has been dishing out lots of dirt on a "dirt nap", per say...for QUITE sometime.

WHATIFTALES: I'm not sure if this is a spoiler or not........

I sure hope that neither Pete nor MJ are ......
skrulls
......that would be cheesy.

I hope they don't trying saying/inferring that any of the scenes that we cherish between Mj and Pete from over any amount of time over their history, was really between....
Pete and a skrull, or MJ and a skrull
.......which would wipe out/cheapen their history big time, no matter how much of it, just like they tried to do witht he whole clone thing.

That would REALLY tick off many fans worse than just breaking them up.

The spider that bit Peter was a skrull.
The last 45 years never happened!
