One More Day Discussion Thread

Well, it's actually more like this:

JMS: "The ending for One More Day is not how I wanted it to go, and I wanted to take my name off the last two parts because of that."

Joe Quesada: "Not so fast, Joe. You were all on board for spliting up the Spider-Marriage just like I was. But if we did it your way, it would have invalidated 30 years of stories."

JMS: "Maybe so, but at least my ending would have made a hell of a lot more sense than the "it's just magic" solution you guys came up with."

Dan Slott: [waving a copy of Amazing Spider-Man #546]: Pay no attention to those bickering men behind the curtain!

Okay. That was "LMAO" worthy right there.:pal: I guess I misinterpritted what JMS was saying.

But didn't JMS say he only wanted to make small changes that makes sense, while Joe Q said he wanted to create a Marvel version of Infinite Crisis?

I don't know how small JMS' changes would have actually been, but all he was saying was that Marvel had a clear direction they wanted to take Spider-Man in, and they couldn't have cared less how they got there.

Sort of like having sex.

JMS said:
What I don't want is for this to turn into a public pissing match. Joe did what he did because he thought it was the right thing to do, and as EIC that's his call, not mine. I respect and admire him. I hope this will be the end of the matter.

I just felt that there were some important bits not addressed, that needed to be.

Well put.Now let's just look forward to the future and admire the greatness that is Thor.

I think what it boils down to is a really horrible story that they thought people would simply accept because of the names attached...

now that they have seen the uglyness and backlash its created its now becoming a find the patsy war of the words...

bottom line is the story sucked and all that were attached are responsible and each of them should stop trying to blame the other...

So he would have put really bad talent on BND if he thought the fans were going to like OMD?

Oh yeah, because that's what I said.

What I could just see, is a worrying Quesada, planning to get the writers/artists which everyone loves on-board, because no matter how crap OMD was, they're obviously going to buy BND. I feel if OMD was a better event, so many artists/writers wouldn't be attached to it.

Unfortunately, I can just see it now, a large majority of fans going;
'I hated OMD, but god, pretty talent!, buy buy buy!'
Even though we should be voting with our wallets, people will still run to the shops to get their hands on a copy. Quesada won't be given the crappy response he should be given.

Me? Fine, I'll buy an issue. Then visit him, and burn that copy until he changes it back to a storyline which isn't so ridiculous.

for me personally...I'll thumb through trades at B&N to keep up with what happens...I have no intention of giving Marvel any more of my money...

nowadays within a few months everything gets collected neatly in TPB form anyway so you never miss anything...just slightly behind haha

You're missing the point. Same story. Same words, same pages, same art. The ONLY difference is that Slott's name is on the cover. Do you still hate it? Do you think it's awesome because Slott's greatness is enough to blind you?

Of course I would hate it regardless of the creator's name on the cover...
It was a CRAPPY story.

Who do you think I am? Elijya??? :whatever: :whatever: :whatever:

I could care less about creators involved... I like the characters that I read and want good stories.

Having said that, I don't believe that Dan is capable of telling such garbage...
At least his past works prove that to me...

Is Elijya guilty of being blinded by a creator's name?

While he'll come in here later to defend his name, that guy has been nothing more than a "Buy the books by "hot creator" du jour"... or at least, the ones that HE thinks are good.

If there's a comic book creator out there that has made a name for him/her self over the last 8 years, chances are they've got Eli's saliva all over their butts.

:whatever: :whatever: :whatever:

:cmad:

Gross. And here, I just thought he was a bad mod. Go figure. :whatever:

Because he doesn't have all the weight of that ball and chain anymore.

Ba-dum, pssh! Thanks, I'll be here all week.

Also, I love this part of the CBR interview:

Ah, so rampantly retconning continuity is fine, just as long as it doesn't go thirty years back instead of twenty.

It'd be great if Spider-Girl did get a spike out of this, though. He's told us what he expects of fans if they truly like the marriage, flawed logic though it may be--why not give it to him? Maybe he'd finally get off his high horse and figure out that he's in the minority about hating the marriage?

Wait.
Reputable source sez that Gwen Stacy is Alive and Un****tified?
