One More Day Discussion Thread

My comic guys don't steer people away from comics.... they just bash them all day long with hopes that people will catch on.

"When we first did it, the reaction was, 'How could you do this? This is a terrible thing to do,' " said Quesada, who invented the story line that turned Spider-Man into Single-Man.

"But with the first issue of 'Brand New Day' (this week's comic book in which Spider-Man returns to single life), our letters very quickly changed to people saying, 'This is fantastic. This is the Spider-Man we remembered. We didn't know what we'd been missing.' "

According to him, apparently they are getting a lot of positive feedback for BND. He could just be BSing, but I found it interesting

I'm sure that Marvel's getting their fair share of praise, but it's not coming from anyone that I know.

He could just be saying that...its not like any company would show up and say "hey everyone thinks our new product sucks".....not gonna happen

I'm curious who is really enjoying this, because I honestly haven't spoken to one person who doesn't absoutely loath Spider-Man right now. If anything I'd say people are giving Spidey more of a chance due to the creative line up than the splitting of Peter and MJ. It just makes me so mad. I wish there were something I could do to influence this crap and show how bad it is, but there isn't anything (I dropped the book, but them losing 3 bucks isn't going to do anything).

It just makes me mad.

Over in the bought/thought threads some people are enjoying. I'm enjoying it ok myself, I don't consider it something 'fantastic' or anything like that, I just try to put OMD out of my mind as I read it

Use the three bucks on Spider-Man loves Mary Jane or ASG.

Where the **** is Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane anyway? It was supposed to debut with a new #1 this month, I thought.

They won't know anything. If it's not in Previews (which it hasn't been) they won't have any info about it.

I loathed the way OMD played out and I know I'm going to loathe the way all the messed up continuity and loose ends will be explained away.

@: Can you tell us the difference between the main AMAZING SPIDER-MAN title and the ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN title? They seem pretty similar to me now, other than the death of Gwen Stacy and Uncle Ben's ponytail…

DS:
Well for starters, our Aunt May? She doesn't know that Peter is Spider-Man. That's an Ultimate thing. And… (***SPOILER*** that's probably where you'll have to go now if you want to read about J. Jonah Jameson. Sorry. ***SPOILER***)

Am I the only who read this and though FTW? That's totally backwards.

In Ultimate Spider-Man, Aunt May knows Peters Spider-Man and in Amazing she doesn't. That reverses the purposes of the two books.

What about that is hard to understand?

I think Red X is saying it's kind of weird that post-retcon, Ultimate Spider-Man in a lot of ways has a more developed continuity than main-universe Spider-Man.

Well, I'm enjoying BND.

The problem you're running into is that you think it's bad, while there are some others who don't. The sooner you can handle the idea of people liking something that you don't, the easier life will be for you.

Just accept that it's here and be comforted in the fact that you don't have to read it if you don't want to.

It's as simple as that. So what if other people still want to read it? It really isn't hurting you any (and if it is, then there's another problem you have besides trying to convince people that they have bad tastes.)

*checks post count*

Nope. It might as well be, I'm surprised enough to the point that it might as well be.

Wow, insightful.

Just accept that it's here and be comforted in the fact that you don't have to read it if you don't want to.

Or protest something you don't like and try and affect a change. That's a real defeatist attitude you have there.

If enough other people ok it, then the changes become permenant. And yes, that does hurt and insult any reader that actually reads what's written in the pages and expects a good story. It's not that anyone's trying to convince someone they have bad taste, if they like the "new" spider-man then they do in fact have bad taste. What most of us are trying to do is convince people they don't have to take it.
