...is how Eddie showed up randomly at MJ's apartment in a cab. How did he know that she was gonna call for a cab anyway? I mean, it was at night time. It was a bit providential, anyone agree?
The reason I made this thread was because I've felt, for a long time, that they had a missed opportunity when they did that. They had the chance to do exactly what they did in issue 299, when MJ went into her apartment and first met venom there.
In 299, you saw the white parts of the mask and the white spider peering through the darkness, which led MJ to believe it was Peter, but when Venom smiled and showed he had teeth, she then knew it wasn't Peter. I think this would have worked very well in the movie, and could have been very dramatic. Here's what I envisioned:
Picture MJ walking into her apartment, and it being completely dark except for one dim lamp. She sets her stuff down, and looks into a corner and sees a dim outline of a spider-symbol, and two eyepeices, and she immediately assumes its Peter. But when she asks him what he's doing there, and gets no reply, she senses something is amiss. Then, the figure steps forward to reveal what seems to be Peter in the black costume, only with a larger spider-symbol. She calls to Peter again, asks him whats wrong, and then an ominous, toothy smile appears on the figures face. She screams, and then a black, toothy hand grabs her while she's about to scream, and then the screen goes black.
I think that would have worked great for the movie, and it would have made more sense than him appearing randomly in a cab. It also would have been more faithful to the comics. I know it's something small, but I feel it's worth mentioning.
Anyone agree?

that was a little weird, now that you mention it. agreed!:cwink:

He was probably out there a while, and was waiting for her to leave and call a cab, no matter when it was.

Yeah and then mothers will be rolling up in droves, protesting that this movie was too scary for their 7 year old, little Johnny.:oldrazz:

Yeah I always wanted that thing from the comic too.

But if they had put it in the movie it would've looked weird because that'd be the second time she was attacked, grabbed, and scared at her apartment.

Harry did it earlier in the movie.

lol Yeah I had the same vision as you pretty much. Then I thought about how much it would remind the theater of Harry's attack.
Like "damn why do these villains hang out in her apartment?!":cmad:

Plus, the GG was in her apartment in SM1 (remember when Peter called).

I would think maybe she was being a "good" host for the villains if Venom went there. Glad he didn't.

^That puts a funny image in my mind of her serving coffee and cookies to the villains. While they take numbers or something, deciding when to capture her.

"Venom, it's not your turn yet, go wait outside"

Plus, the whole cab was an excuse to have her hanging from one later.

i like the idea of venom inher apartment but i mean the cab thing wasnt that bad. and eddie wasnt waiting cz he drove up rmemeber

She had Harry break into her apartment like 30 minutes earlier, and now Venom too? I like your idea, but yeah, it would've been too much.

I think they really should have shown that scene from the comics! I think they should have made Harry just fly by and grab MJ like he did Peter instead of having him in her apartment. Then they could have saved the sweet suprise for Venom! :sym:

It would have been really cool to see the scene from ASM #299.

Agreed.

It would been have been awesome to see that scene from 266, but as mentioned before it would have been scary for the kids, that's why the mirror scene was taken out.

It is funny that villains tend to kidnap her in her apartment. She should put up an anti-supervillain sign outside her door :whatever:.

LOL...that is awesome.

lol! yeah.

I agree that it would've been too much but it would've made for a great visual.

Imagine seeing nothing but Spider-Man's eyes in a dark corner and when she yell's out for Peter, the eyes grow fangs! lol

This argument reminds me of how doc ock knew Peter was meeting MJ at that restaranut. It's possible that MJ calls a cab the same time each day after work, and Peter knew that time- and that information was given to Eddie through the symbiote.

...maybe someday in the future where we have an even more desensitized world, and the spidey franchise is rebooted.

Venom has the ability to be amazing, and surpass any other villain ever, unfortunately this time around we ended up with a good looking, poor SOB that leaves a faitful audience the same way a victoria secret catalog first impacts a 13 year old boy. Maybe not the same, but close!

if venom's appearance wasn't good then he prolly wouldn't be very good at all

I completely agree with all of what you said. Stupid little parts like this and the butler scene, the meteorite landing RIGHT NEXT to PP's bike, and Venom knowing "all about" Sandman (i originally thought he knew about FM because the Symbiote had been on Spiderman and so knew his identity, then i remember however that Spiderman never knew about FM's daughter yet Venom did), that almost ruined the movie for me.

I still enjoyed it a lot, but with a little more imagination this movie could have been something special.

Oh, and Venom being in MJ's apartment like how you described would have been awesome in the movie, as, at that point, MJ would have been delighted to see Peter, then her delight would have quickly turned to dread. That would have been much better than what we got.

Exactly, they just could have shown Harry grabbing her leaving work or something.
