One Universe: Marvel & DC

[Eddie Brock]

This idea comes to me from the One Universe RPG, in which we imagine a world where both Marvel and DC co-exist. Imagine! Spider-Man on the Teen Titans! Captain America on the Justice League! Superman on the Avengers! The Flash versus Quicksilver! The possibilities are endless!

I'm starting this story with the origins. I'll only be touching on a select few for obvious reasons. I can't have a giant cast of superheroes.

FADE IN:

EXT. OMAHA BEACH - DAYBREAK

Bullets whistle past the men. Explosions create large clouds of dust. STEVE ROGERS, better known to the world as CAPTAIN AMERICA, rushes forward with his detail in tow.

CAPTAIN AMERICA
Come on, you sissies! I want to be home by August!

Cap has a commanding presence which demands respect from his men. JAMES BUCHANAN BARNES, also known as BUCKY, is hustling to keep up with Cap. Bucky is a radio operator, and he looks up to Cap.

SOLDIER #1
(breathing heavily)
I...I can't do it...

SOLDIER #1 collapses. Bucky runs to his aide.

BUCKY
(cheerfully)
Come on, you CAN do this! Look at Cap!

The two men look up to see Cap deflecting bullets with his shield. Cap spins around and releases the shield, and it hits three men before returning to its owner.

BUCKY (CONT'D)
You see that? Cap is going to make sure that we all make it home alive! Hell, he'd sucker-punch Hitler in the jaw if it meant ending this war!

Bucky looks down and sees that Soldier #1 isn't moving anymore.

BUCKY
Medic!

Cap turns and sees Bucky clasping the soldier's body.

CAPTAIN AMERICA
He's gone, son. Now keep moving, or you'll be next!

Bucky nods and lets go of the soldier. The soldier's body collapses on the beach, joining a multitude of men who had and would give their lives that day. Bucky gets up and hurries along to catch up with his detail.

Plus: If you arn't going to stick to the comic stories strictly, then you could do Ally vs. Ally. E.g. Superman vs. Batman... Kind of unrealistic I now but maybe you could think of something...

Well, obviously with an undertaking like this, some things must be compromised. But the cores of the characters are going to be essentially the same.

FADE IN:

EXT. GOTHAM ARENA - NIGHT

Crowds of people flood the city streets. The posters outside read, "TONIGHT ONLY! JACK "THE DEVIL" MURDOCK!" The fight has ended. THOMAS, MARTHA, and BRUCE WAYNE exit the building. They are all extremely well-dressed, and their wealth is obvious. They continue to walk, conversing about the fight. Finally, they turn onto an empty street. A MUGGER approaches them.

MUGGER
Give me your cash!

THOMAS WAYNE
(indignantly)
What?

The mugger pulls out a small revolver. All three Waynes recoil at the sight of it.

MUGGER
Put all the cash and jewelry in the bag!

He throws a pillowcase at them without lowering his gun. Thomas stares at him for a moment.

MARTHA WAYNE
Tom, just do it!

Bruce is speechless. He's too young to understand what's happening. Thomas' face is riddled with disgust, but he obliges.

MUGGER
(points the gun at Bruce)
What about him?

THOMAS WAYNE
He's just a kid!

MUGGER
I want his watch!

MARTHA WAYNE
(pleadingly)
Please...he's a kid!

Without another word, the mugger shoots Martha in the chest. Thomas instantly attacks in response. During the struggle, the gun goes off again. Thomas collapses onto the street. The mugger is suddenly afraid. He runs off into the darkness, leaving Bruce with his dying parents.

BRUCE WAYNE
(with tears in his eyes)
Dad?...Mom?

THOMAS WAYNE
(whispering)
Bruce...be strong, son. Be strong.

FADE IN:

INT. KENT HOME

CLARK KENT enters through the screen door. The kitchen is seemingly empty.

CLARK
Hello?

VOICE (O.S.)
Clark?

CLARK
(smiling)
Mom.

MARTHA KENT enters the kitchen from another room. When she sees her son, she rushes over and wraps her arms around him.

MARTHA
You've been gone for so long!

CLARK
I had a lot of thinking to do.
(beat)
Where's Dad?

MARTHA
Oh...he's fooling around with something in the barn. Come, sit.

Martha guides Clark to the kitchen table where he sits down. Martha takes her seat across from him.

MARTHA (CONT'D)
So, tell me about this trip of yours!

CLARK
It was amazing, Mom. I went all over the world...Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe...

MARTHA
Sounds fascinating!

CLARK
It was. But the people were the highlight.
(beat)
There are so many amazing people out there, Mom.

MARTHA
(quietly)
Amazing like...?

CLARK
No. That's my point. So many people are trying to save our world, and they don't have gifts like me! It's...inspiring.

MARTHA
Well, what does that mean for you?

CLARK
I want to start using these abilities for good, but I'm not sure how.
(sighs)
Mom, every time people found out what I can do, they became afraid of me. They look at me as some kind of freak. I can't say I blame them...it's not like I can explain it...

MARTHA
(avoiding eye contact)
Listen, Clark...your Dad and I haven't been completely honest with you.

CLARK
(puzzled)
What do you mean?

MARTHA
(looking down at the floor)
We know how you got these powers.

CLARK
You do?

MARTHA
We didn't want to tell you because we were afraid that you'd look at us differently.

CLARK
I'm not following...

Martha gets up and moves towards the door. Clark, not sure of what to do, follows her.

EXT. KENT FARM

Martha and Clark walk along the dirt path to the barn.

INT. BARN

Martha and Clark enter the barn. JONATHAN KENT is repairing the tractor.

JONATHAN
I'm almost done, Martha.

MARTHA
Jonathan.

Jonathan looks up from his work. He sees his son and the look on his wife's face.

JONATHAN
What's wrong?

MARTHA
(solemnly)
It's time.

JONATHAN
(nodding)
We knew this day would come. I just hoped for a little more time.

CLARK
Would someone fill me in?

Jonathan walks over to Clark and wraps his arm around his son's shoulder. He begins to guide Clark out of the barn.

JONATHAN
Clark, this is going to be a lot to take in.

EXT. KENT FARM

Clark and Jonathan continue to walk outside. Martha watches them from the barn.

CLARK
Dad, you and Mom are freaking me out. What is it?

JONATHAN
Clark, we are not your real parents.

CLARK
(shocked)
I'm adopted?

JONATHAN
Sort of.

Jonathan and Clark come to a stop in front of the storm cellar. Clark looks at it and then back to Jonathan.

CLARK
What is this?

INT. STORM CELLAR

Jonathan flicks on the light. There are shelves packed with emergency supplies. In the very back, there is a cloth covering a large object. Next to it is a box marked, "CLARK'S BABY STUFF."

JONATHAN
(points to object and box)
Everything we know about your real parents is right there.

Clark walks over to the object. He grabs the sheet and looks back to Jonathan for approval. Jonathan nods, and Clark removes the cloth. Underneath is an ALIEN SPACESHIP.

CLARK
(shocked)
What is this?!

JONATHAN
We don't know, Clark. All we know is that this...spaceship...crashed on our farm twenty-five years ago. And it was the best thing that ever happened to us.

CLARK
I'm...an alien?

JONATHAN
No.
(beat)
You are Clark Joseph Kent. And you will always be Clark Joseph Kent. No matter what planet your from.

CLARK
(turns to Jonathan)
Do you know anything else?

JONATHAN
No, but...

Jonathan walks over to the box. He hesitates for a moment before opening it.

JONATHAN (CONT'D)
This is everything else that came with you.

Jonathan hands Clark a STRANGE CRYSTAL. As Clark is examining it, Jonathan pulls out the second item. It appears to be some kind of flag. Jonathan hands it to Clark.

CLARK
Whoa.

FADE IN:

INT. PARATROOPER PLANE

Captain America is surrounded by his men. No one is saying anything. Bucky gets up and sits next to his idol.

BUCKY
(whispers)
What are we doing, Cap?

CAPTAIN AMERICA
The Germans have built a prototype bomb in Iceland. Tonight, they intend on launching the bomb.

BUCKY
Where to?

CAPTAIN AMERICA
We don't know. Probably Washington...maybe New York.

BUCKY
What are we going to do?

CAPTAIN AMERICA
I know how to defuse it. But I need you men to get me inside the Nazi stronghold on Iceland. It's heavily guarded, and it's on the coast.

BUCKY
That's why we couldn't take a ship in!

CAPTAIN AMERICA
(nods)
Exactly. Our only option is to drop in.
(beat)
We're going to be surrounded, Bucky. Germans in the front, with their naval forces in the rear. It's not going to be easy.

BUCKY
(smiling)
It never is. That's why we have you.

Cap smiles back at the kid. He's got spirit, and that will get him places. Cap can't help but think how much Bucky reminds him of himself when he signed up for the Super-Soldier program.

VOICE (O.S.)
Five minutes to drop point!

Cap gets up and faces his men. This is it. He's going to ask them to die for him.

CAPTAIN AMERICA
Gentlemen, tonight is the most important night of your lives. We have been sent by the Army to stop a diabolical Nazi attack on the United States of America. The truth is, I need each and every one of you.
(beat)
I know you all think I'm some kind of invincible fighting machine, but I'm just like you. If I get punched, it hurts. If I get cut, I bleed. And if I get shot...I die.
(beat)
The fact of the matter is that I can't do this without you. We're invading a heavily-guarded Nazi fortress. They know we're coming. That's why they cut off the coast. So when we're out there - surrounded by Germans - I want you all to think of your homes.

The men look around and their faces are filled with nostalgic smiles.

CAPTAIN AMERICA (CONT'D)
I want you to remember that every bullet you take, every bead of sweat that you produce, and every live that is given...it's for them. It's for our families at home. It's for generations to come that will look back on what we've done and say, "They were heroes."

SOLDIER
Yeah!

CAPTAIN AMERICA
"They were heroes - those men who went to the gates of Hell and gave their dying breaths so that we may be free!"
(beat)
We're not just fighting to stop Hitler. We fighting for every American that will ever live that can say that they were entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness! We are fighting to ensure that the American people will never have to know what it's like to live under the rule of a cruel tyrant!

There is scattered applause and general rowdiness about the plane. The mens' spirit is fueled by the power of Cap's words.

CAPTAIN AMERICA (CONT'D)
For the land of the free!

SOLDIERS
(in unison)
And the home of the brave!

CAPTAIN AMERICA
(under his breath, with determination)
Let's do this.

Yes. I'm doing the "older" heroes first.

Cap is taking place in 1944/45. Clark is about 10 years ago. Bruce is about 30 years ago (per his most recent scene; the next one will be closer).

That's why I haven't started on Spidey, Flash, or Iron Man. Their origins are all recent within this timeline.

wow this is awesome. i think it would be cool if eventually this lead up to something like the amalgan universe only its the next generation heroes. or maybe they find out there not suposed to be togethor and for some reason things are going to go back to normal and they need to stop it

Well, if you've been watching, there's been at least one cross-universe reference.

Right now, with the origins, there's not a lot of room for universe crossing. But I'll get there.

well if you want a writer i would love to do venom as like a batman or some other heros viallin. or maybe an xmen vs another team. like maybe the jla needs to get rid of mutants because of the government tells them to. so if you need writiers this sounds like a fun story to write with but its up to you
