Cool ideas, but in the Q&A which is now pretty much confirmed. The symbonite comes from an asteroid, and in Connor's lab it gets stuck on Pete's shoe. He goes home takes off his clothes and most likley comes back after fighting crime, goes to sleep, then from what we've heard and seen it creeps up while he's sleeping and takes over him. Then he wakes up hanging upside down like the last shot of the teaser trailer.

Most of that is pretty confirmed now.
