At the end, Venom and Sandman team up to defeat Spider-Man. Which was cool IMO. But here's a thought. . .instead of Harry getting amnesia why didn't they just team him up with Sandman?

The whole point of Sandman was that he needed money for his daughter. Harry, being the rich kid that he is could have paid Flint Marko/Sandman lots of money to help him kill Spider-Man.

Just a thought.

That was my original idea for Spiderman 3 when they first announced Sandman. Flint working for Harry just like Ock wanting the tritium.

I liked Spider-Man 3 and liked the approach they took but them teaming up may have been better for most people. Jumping around from villain to villain probably annoyed some viewers.

Hey, that would have made sense. I wasn't much for the amnesia thing anyway.

The benefit of the amnesia thing was the scene where MJ comes to have dinner with Harry. Then, afterwards Peter goes to drink coffee with Harry not know that his memory is back and practically ***** slapped when Harry tells him, "I'm the other man."

Those two scenes are the reason I approve of the amnesia sub-plot.

I know Harry wanted to make things up with Peter at the end but was it necessary to take his own life..... geeez. I just thought there was another alternative.

It goes back to what he said at the hospital, "I'd give my life for those two."

Harry certainly forgot a lot. He wasn't aware Norman was dead or he was rich.

That would pretty much be a rehash of SM2 :cwink:

Stop listening to Richard Roeper :whatever: To begin with, Harry wasn't rich. His Dad was rich! Big difference. Now, that his dad is dead he gets all the money.

Not really. Ock and Harry didn't really team up per say. I meant team up in the classic Batman style.

Yeah but this time Harrt would have donned the goblin suit and actually teamed up with Sandman. Promising Sandman the money if he helped him kill Spiderman.

Yup.

Agreed. That scene, in the cafe between Peter and Harry, was one of the best in the entire film. I just knew Harry would play that line and it was beauitfully done.

He just made it sound like he was surprised he was living in the lap of luxury like he was Orphan Annie or something. He always had a silver spoon.

I know, man, that scene was worth the amnesia bull s--t.

What he sounded like and what he meant are two different things. What he meant was that he was surprised to have all of his Dad's money.

Gotcha...I think

Harry wasn't rich. Daddy paid all the bills. Pete and Harry's fancy apartment in Spidey 1 was bought by Norman. Now that Norman is dead all that money went to Harry. So, now Harry is actually rich. In other words had Daddy said, "not paying your bills anymore" Harry would be living in Peter's crappy apartment eating chocolate cake and milk. Now he doesn't have to worry about that.

I liked the amnesia angle...not only did it enhance and further establish the Peter/Harry friendship, but I also thought it was a nice little nod to old Goblin stories where Norman got amnesia all the time.
