Original 1989 pilot episode of NBC's "X-men"

the opening animation is pretty kick ass, though.

I still have that on a tape.

And I thought the theme song, however hokey, was rather catchy. :o

Yeah, that was a god-awful theme song. I prefer the animation style in this episode to the one in the '90s X-Men cartoon, though. That part with Colossus in the Danger Room was particularly badass.

it was pretty crappy, but the opening sequence was cool. And what the hell did they to do Emma's powers?

That was a pilot? Funny, I thought it was one of those one-shot videos Marvel used to put out. I think I still have the VHS tape around somewhere. I remember thinking that I prefered Pryde of the X-Men to the 90's TV series.

I liked the 90's series more, but wished it had the line up of the late 80's series.

I remember watching that episode when it first came out, and thinking how cool it was. It turns out I was just young and stupid at the time. Still stupid, though.

i watched this thing when it first broadcasted, it was awesome then. its awesome now. I still had it on vhs and watch it occasoinally. for 1989 the animation was awesome. the only problem was wolvies accent, but i hate wolverine anywway so

Its no surprise why they passed. Its to jumbles,to many different accents,to much to keep track of and most of all WAY to much concentration on female characters. Not as good as the fox version.

Wolverine's Australian accent was actually the only thing I really didn't like about it. I liked Nightcrawler and Kitty's interactions a lot, I liked Colossus' cheerful attitude even though he could crush stone with his bare hands, and I liked how Magneto was an abusive dickwad to Toad.

i like xavier's description of storm to kitty:

"and that's storm, who controls the weather...and we don't know how..."

Ha! Dazzler only had 2 lines!

I did love the way they did Emma Frost and Magneto. Their bombastic dialogue and unrepentent evil is a nice reminder when comics used to be a great deal more fun and simple.

"Release me, I command you!"

I thought this pilot felt a lot like they might have adapted the X-Men arcade game into a cartoon:

Best arcade game ever.

I remember going on a field trip in elementary school to a water park. Who wanted to go on the giant water slide when you could play all the way through the X-Men arcade game? Me and three other people of course.

Nightcrawler was freaking awesome. Probably one of my favorite childhood memories. How pathetic is that?

Not really that pathetic. I loved that game as a kid, too. The Captain America and the Avengers game was the best, though. The Vision rocked so ****ing hard. I think that game may be why he's still one of my favorite characters to this day.
