Original Obi-Wan Kenobi Starring Ewan McGregor on Disney+ Thread

Rumor: Jar Jar Binks to return in Star Wars: Kenobi! | Making Star Wars

Okay, I was super excited for this project. But this news makes me...nervous to say the least. Haven't we agreed as a society that Jar Jar sucks? Why do this! :cmad:

In the Aftermath trilogy in one of the interludes its revealed that after the Empire took over Jar Jar ended up living on the street in Theed and is a street clown. He acts a fool to try to make children laugh the children love him, but he's ridiculed by adults. He knows he screwed up with Palpatine and is just trying to do something good and wholesome to bring some joy to someone's life each day.

I think a meeting between Jar Jar and Obi could actually be an emotional scene. Both lost everything. Both feel they are directly responsible for what's happened to the galaxy. Both were played like fools by Palpatine. Both have fallen to the bottom of society and become ghosts of sorts.

Yup, sure Jar Jar was a bad character and all...but there is still potential in the character itself.
You can do a lot of interesting things with the character after episode 3.
He was just there to be something for the kids to laugh at, but that doesnt mean the character cant get depth and all.

Would be a fantastic way to close the chapter jar jar binks.
But if he really is in the show then i want him to be played by the original actor who has suffered a lot in real life because of his role.
It would be nice if both, the character and actor could get nice closure.

I dunno, i always got a sense that Jar Jar's role in the PT was cut back due to the backlash. But that's just my perception, who knows. I always found it quite sad that he was naive enough to give Palpatine emergency powers. That basically created the Empire, so yes, the guilt he must have felt had to be huge. If the character is included, hopefully they can tough on that. And i agree, i hope if Jar Jar is back, is Ahmed playing him. He had it rough due to the hate, even considering suicide. Ahmed, Jake and Hayden got a lot of unnecessary (and unfair) pure hate. Dislike a character all you want, even hate the movie. But show the actors a bit more respect.

Jar Jar's intro in TPM was the moment a part of SW died for me.

I'm hearing rumors that this show is in danger of delays, due to the originally planning on shooting this somewhere in Australia and with the fires, that's in danger now. And if they dont shoot in the original schedule they had, there's a chance of a bigger delay to do Ewan having other commitments. Let's cross our fingers and hope for the best!

We’re hearing that Lucasfilm president and Obi-Wan producer Kathleen Kennedy was not happy with the scripts. Sources tell us that what will most likely happen next is the scripts will be reworked with the hopeful goal of reassembling this summer, but there’s always the possibility that that timeframe could shift.
I really don't trust Kennedy

Ugh can this please just be fake news. Everything about it pisses me off.

I swear if this gets cancelled because of Kennedy's incompetence...

She's suddenly micromanaging scripts, yet she was fine with The Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker?
On top of that, she said last August that the scripts were good and production was being fast-tracked to film as soon as possible. Now the production needs to shut down and the scripts fixed? She's got absolutely no clue in how to run this franchise. Hand over creative reigns to people like Filoni and Favreau and have her just run the business stuff, which is where she excelled for much of her career.

At the same time, sources say the project is being reconfigured from six episodes to four.

It is unclear when the show will ramp up again, although insiders stress that McGregor remains attached to star and Chow remains on as director. Disney had no comment.

The development follows social media rumors a week ago that the series was cancelled. Those posts proved premature, but did expose the project was facing problems.

It is unclear why scripts became an issue so late in the process. One source said the Kenobi story trod similar ground as The Mandalorian, seeing the Jedi master lending a protective hand to a young Luke and possible even a young Leia, perhaps mirroring how the Mandalorian took Baby Yoda under his protective custody.

Hmmm.

If that clown Kennedy hated the script, chances are that they were actually good

I really hate that woman. She should have been given the boot after TLJ. She is running Star Wars to the ground

Either Bob Iger is a complete idiot for not canning her ass or Kathleen has got some dirt on him

If it is getting changed to four episodes I really hope they're notably longer than the Mando episodes were.

Maybe the movie should have been the route they took.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Recent pic, McGregor at Birds of Prey Premiere event in LA.

I suppose his longer hair was for soon to go in to production (before they put it on hold) Obi Wan series ?

It's like, when you get someone who played an iconic role in a film to reprise it for a tv show, it makes sense to not lose them.
