Sorry if this has been made, I have been heavy following TDKR and avoided any TASM spoilers because I am alot more excited for this, but in a trailer I saw, what is this device Peters workin on ? it shot out webs...if he gets bitten by a spider, why does he need this?

Spider-Man was originally created with web shooters.

The first Spider-Man movie was the 1st time organic web shooters were seen.

Don't you know the comics? Before Raimi, Spiderman always had web shooters. It was to show how intelligent he was and be used in ways that would make the action more tense.

Sam Raimi decided to change this to 'organics'.

My dad has over 10,000 comics, about 2000 of them are Spiderman, he does not let me touch them, so everything i know about spiderman is from him or the movies:/

True, the strength, spidey-senses, shoulda figured. thanks for clarifying guys! i appreciate it

Yikes man. Get out there and get some comics. Or look round the *cough*, web (hehe).

You'll find something no doubt

Yeah, I would love to read the comics. My dad says hes never selling them, and once he dies, I can have every single comic. You already know I'd never sell them. Hes been collecting since the 60s, but when he was 17 my grandma accidently donated 3 full boxes of Batman comics to charity because he wouldnt wake up. lol

Then your dad has a great power...and he's neglecting the great responsibilty of passing those to you to read

The spider bite gave him strength, speed, agility, spider-sense and the ability to climb unto walls and surfaces. The idea of mechanical webshooters was going to be in Raimi's films, but he decided to just use organic webbing as Peter having all the powers from the spider bite made sense but in the 'Science of Spider-Man' show it was mentioned how out of all of those abilities, being able to shoot webbing has the least amount of logic to it since Peter would need an extra muscle in his arms as well as the only likely place for Peter to shoot webbing is underneath his tongue.

Well, we all have comics... the ones we keep... and the ones that get sold because we don't wake up.

Then you should be asking him these questions. I'm sure he'd love it if you showed some interest in Spidey.

Didn't the spider give Peter the mentality on how to make web shooters?

Not mentioned in Amazing Fantasy #15. Peter designs, builds, and tests the webshooters in a single panel if I remember right. (Decompressed storytelling? Spidey don't need no stinkin' decompressed storytelling! :woot:)

that was only in the 90's Spider-man cartoon, just like how in the Ultimate Spider-man comic Peter's dad had some formula for webbing but Peter perfected and completed the formula creating webbing.

I bet this is how it is gonna go in ASM

More than likely. In the ultimate story, Richard created the formula as a sort of advanced adhesive, but it was never complete until Peter continued to work on it and perfected it. I'm really excited to see the building of the web shooters and webbing development.

Is kidholland a guy or girl? Because if she's a girl...let's get married because I want that stash of comics.

Still.

Frank and Charlie even got together for lesser reasons, lol.
