Sci-Fi Orphan Black

"A completely unique copy of the original." Followed by photos of Clone Club. So is Lucy here a long lost relative twice removed from Clone Club? Even though this is set decades after the original series, the clones themselves were relatively young, so not like one of them couldn't show up, right?

That said...yeah, weird that we're getting trailers and fanfare for a series that's already aired elsewhere months ago.

Sadly, I've been spoiled on one major bit. All I'm going to say is, look closer at the photos. Its not Clone Club.

God, its been so long, I can't wait for it. Even if it is a bit disappointing Ritter trying to do a Maslany. But, my Orphan Black blurays just arrived, so time to watch the original.

This has to be one of the most bizarre release strategies I’ve ever seen.

If only it wasn't premiering at 10 pm the same night that House of the Dragon's second episode is apparently going to be longer than most! Would be fine to just go from Hot D to this, but now might have to wait for a replay if Hot D goes well past 10 pm.

If you have AMC Plus, I think the episode premieres around midnight or 1 a.m. tomorrow morning.

First episode down. Interesting. Doesn't have quite the hook of OG's opening scene, sure. But it is also getting into the meat of the plot quicker. And I do love the subtle touches they are making it to be 25 years in the future. I am enjoying Ritter, even though she won't have the chance for the performances that Maslany gave us. Glad they got that reveal out of the way in the first episode. I have accepted that we are unlikely to see Maslany this season, but, given what character they do have, and the..."quality" of the old age make up they are in, perhaps that is for the best.

Really, I actually not super interested in seeing the Clone Club, the characters I do want to see are Kyra's cousins, Helena's twins.

I'm intrigued. Took awhile to really hook me, but it also took awhile for me to warm up to the original Orphan Black. It's still weird watching this treating it like it's brand new when other territories have already seen this. Obviously anyone following in the footsteps of Tatiana Maslany's varied performances across five seasons would face an uphill climb, but I think Krysten Ritter rises to the occasion and does a good job. Honestly, until the very end, this could work as its own sci-fi series without being in the same world as Orphan Black. That said, I'm curious to learn more about the mystery of Lucy.

Also, just talking about language, I do appreciate how this series is allowed to drop the occasional F-bomb compared to the original. It doesn't change anything, but it's nice and the uses of it don't feel forced.

Sarah alone would have dropped so many f bomb had they been allowed to.

Really enjoying this so far. Great set design for a realistic 25 years in the future, offset by horrible, horrible old age make up.

Good god, it was tough to see Jordan Gavaris in that make up. Fun to see Felix again, and the small back hand update on Sarah, but that make up was rough.

Once again, we are not going to get Ritter doing a full Maslany, but I do like Lucy and Amanda Fix's Jules together on screen. Will be interesting to see the conspiracy unfold, as it is clear Kira has hooked up with a new Neolution type deal. And I like Jules, very much a spiritual relative to Sarah.

The little touches to make it the future are fun. That tiktok mirror is clearly going to happen. Seeing a laptop with a screen keyboard makes me want to burn the future to the ground.

Maybe it's just time and getting older, but it's nice that he's mellowed out a bit. It's still Felix under there, and it's nice that he's still big into his art. Plus, the nod to Mrs. S. was nice.

Of course, it's now just a matter of time before Jules and Lucy cross paths again.

never saw the original show was watching it on streaming before it moved to AMC plus before I finished season 1. I saw they had the complete series on blu ray for a good price so I snagged it.

Still enjoying this. Ritter is great, even if she is only doing one role. Amanda Fix is doing a great job in keeping up with Ritter. Them tripping on drugs was great and kind of cute. Good job mirroring each other. Jules ribbing Lucy for being with a guy was funny.

Okay, starting to get caught back up after the Olympics threw my TV watching out of whack. Still great, and while we only get one Ritter, I do love Amanda Fix and Rya Kihlstedt as the alternate versions.

Through episode 7 now. The flashback episode was fun, though butch Kyra was kind of funny to me. Surprised that Jules' mom was on the up and up, and her dad was the *******. And I saw the twist with Xander coming a mile away, but it is nice and creepy, in a stereotypical east Asian parenting kind of way. Did not see Kyra doing another print out, and still hiding her wife's death from her son. Though clearly, dude was not told enough about his grandmother and aunts, to understand why his mom may have issues with religion and the whole print out process. The whole scene of Jules sending Xander on trip was hilarious to me. I know the dude is a year old, but really, don't get your hopes up with a girl you just met.

The appearance of
Delphine
was completely pointless. They didn't add anything to the episode, and they could have been replaced by anyone.

Here's hoping for a renewal. I enjoyed this season. Still unsure if I want Maslany to show up a and subject her to that old age make up. Though, I guess she could show up as Charlotte.

I was kind of hoping the big reveal of Daros at the end was Skyler Wexler, the og Kira, rather than another Jules

That sucks. I was at least hoping for a Season 2 announcement. :(

Unfortunate, but not too surprising since this didn't seem to have the draw that the original series had. I love Krysten Ritter, but as far as this world goes, she's not Tatiana Maslany. Plus, the strange release schedule across different countries probably didn't do the ratings many favors.
