Sci-Fi Orphan Black

Everyone was surprising each other this week.
Felix gets surprised by Art and that other guy
Cosima gets surprised by Sarah
Donnie gets surprised by that attacker who ALSO got surprised by Helena

Good start to the season, though. Curious about whatever that creature was that attacked Sarah.

So damn good. It's all coming together.

I was like, they're going to kill that newly introduced bad guy already? But he got the last laugh and turned the tables.

Pretty big move there killing off Siobhan. Though it had to have been coming. The whole time watching Clone Club and company get the jump on Neolution, trick Ferdinand, collaborate with Rachel...I kept thinking that it couldn't be THIS easy. There had to be a consequence or repercussion, and there was. Though Ferdinand DID do the dumb villain move of giving the dying victim an open opportunity instead of just quickly finishing them.

Can't say that Gracie's death was all that impacting, really. She only came back one episode prior and she's already dead.

well, tonight's the night... the series finale of Orphan Black... I dread what may happen tonight and I'm really going to miss this show and all of Tatiana's clone characterizations... :csad: I've grown to love them all over the last five years... even that b***h Rachel... such a marvelous, talented and versatile actress... I hope we see her in something very soon...

So that appears to be that. Pretty neat, tie it in a bow resolution that, admittedly, the show gets after having gone through so much. Though if I had a negative, it's that PT never struck me as a compelling antagonist. He never felt threatening and his deteriorating health certainly didn't help. He lacked the methodical nature or sense of dread that you'd get from someone like Rachel and he was removed so easily from the equation that I'm wondering why there was so much intrigue to him.

That aside, it was a pretty decent finale. While I wish we'd spent more time on Sarah weighing the decision to leave again, it is a pretty happy ending that she decides to stay.

funny moments from the finale... Orange and Purple and jamburgers...

and the title Orphan Black is finally revealed as to what it is...

So, getting caught up here, I had lunch while watching episode 7. Mistakes were made. Grave mistakes...

Finally finished the season. I'm glad it ended on a happy note.

Even for Rachel.

I do have empathy for Helena and the sand.

I no longer get BBC America so I just got around to binging this final season and goodness, what a lovely ending. Loved the callback to Helena's dream. Somehow they even managed to make me feel for Rachel in the end. Helena broke my heart a few times there toward the end, too. My one complaint, which now officially applies to not just this season but the show in general: not enough Krystal! :oldrazz:

Still though, bravo to everyone involved. It went out strong. Tatiana deserves another Emmy.

I get SOOOOOOOOO depressed every time I am reminded that there's no more Orphan Black. I saw a new post and RAN over here and caught yours.

I, like, TOTALLY agree about Krystal. I mean, like, I KNOW she's been told that she's, like, TOTALLY a 10 and I don't, y'know, think anyone should, like, disagree. I mean, I don't at all, but, hey, if others do, well that's just their problem; not mine.

Krystal was really smart even if she did talk like my daughter. LOL.

Interested and very intrigued. Would be very curious to see how this plays out, in particular on AMC versus the BBC. Even though it's a completely new story, I think there could've been room to follow-up on Cosima and Delphine wanting to cure the clones all around the world.

It's gotta have Tatiana in it... is she free for this?

My guess it will be a Christmas special

I thought Christmas Specials were just a British thing. But I'd be down for that!

‘Orphan Black’ Storyline Continues With Tatiana Maslany Voicing New Audio Series for Serial Box

Attention, Clone Club: “Orphan Black” is getting a post-TV afterlife.

Temple Street Productions, the production company behind the sci-fi thriller, inked a deal with premium digital fiction startup Serial Box to create a brand-new installment, “Orphan Black: The Next Chapter” — continuing the story of the clone sisterhood and their allies (and enemies) after the end of the TV show.

Tatiana Maslany, the Emmy-winning star of “Orphan Black” who portrayed 14 different clones on the show, is on board to voice the new episodes. The 10-episode series will be available later this summer in audiobook and text formats exclusively from Serial Box. Boat Rocker Studios, the parent of Temple Street, is an investor in Serial Box.

“Orphan Black” ran for five seasons on BBC America in the U.S. and Canada’s Space. In the TV series finale, the full list of 274 female Leda clones is revealed — prompting Cosima, one of the original Clone Club members, and her companion Delphine to embark on a quest to inoculate them against the respiratory disease the clones are susceptible to.

According to Temple Street and Serial Box, “The Next Chapter” is the official continuation of the Orphan Black story, set eight years in the future from where season 5 left off and features the same characters, all voiced by Maslany. The companies aren’t sharing additional plot details but said “#cophine” — a reference to Cosima and Delphine — “definitely plays a big part in the story.”

Serial Box has enlisted a new writing team for “Orphan Black: The Next Chapter.” It has signed Malka Older as the showrunner and Mishell Baker, Lindsay Smith, Heli Kennedy, Madeline Ashby and E.C. Myers as series writers. The writers’ room approach, according to the company, lets it release serialized fiction five times faster than a traditional book.

“We are delighted to be able to extend the Orphan Black franchise through this new and innovative partnership with Serial Box,” Ivan Schneeberg and David Fortier, Boat Rocker’s co-executive chairmen and executive producers of “Orphan Black,” said in a joint statement. “Orphan Black’s devoted fans will now get more of what they love on this exciting listening and reading platform.”

Serial Box patterns its service on traditional TV shows, with new episodes (chapters) of its serialized stories released every week in “seasons” that typically run 10-16 weeks. The first chapter is free; subsequent episodes cost $1.99 each or users can buy a season pass at an average price of $13.99.

The “Orphan Black” collaboration with Temple Street marks New York-based Serial Box’s second major entertainment partnership, after announcing a deal with Marvel Entertainment to create original stories based on Black Panther, Jessica Jones, Black Widow and Thor.

Separately, a TV series set in the “Orphan Black” universe — with a completely new story — is in the works at AMC Networks from Temple Street, Variety first reported earlier this year.
