The Force Awakens Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron

In VIII opening scene, I'm thinking a few months have passed since the end of VII. So I highly doubt there will be any Poe and Rey's first meeting shown. I bet the first on-screen interaction between Poe and Rey is a casual conversation (perhaps abt Finn) like they already know each other for awhile.

When Rey left Finn, she sounded as though she knew she would be gone for some time. Hell, she sounded as though there's a possibility they may never meet again. We, the audience, know they more than likley will. Since Finn was left with the resistance, it's quite plausible that Rey hasn't had contact with either Finn nor Poe, so them meeting for the first time is likely.

I hope (and think) the next film will begin with Poe and Finn going on a mission together and building that bromance. Whatever happens with Rey (whether she starts some kind of romantic relationship with one of them or not) I want to see them taking down some First Order scum together, buddy cop movie style.

I don't want to see Rey start a romantic relationship with anyone. Just because she's a female doesn't mean she has to fall for someone. I think her destiny should be the focus of her story arc, 100%.

You might be right. But they were standing next to each other when they arrived at the base and handed over Finn to the medics, and when they found the map. Those scenes kinda implies they had their first meet already by the end of VII, but not shown on screen. There is also possibility they'd get their first meet in VIII, but if they don't show it in VII then I don't see the point of showing it in VIII. JJ Abrams cut off that meeting scene from the earlier drafts for a reason. (the novelization was written based on earlier drafts)
If Poe and Rey were to have to their first meet scene shown in VIII then the first meet has to be something important, like maybe... the beginning of their romance. If they don't have any intention to develop Poe and Rey's relationship romantically, then I don't see the point of them meeting for the first time in VIII.

Poe meets Rey in the novelization, I understand. It's very quick, just an exchange of "Hi" basically. So yes, they've met by the end of the story.

I don't know about that. Let's remember, who was the last Jedi with a romantic interest and how did that work out for everyone?

Right now, the Jedi Order is pretty much whatever Luke says. If Luke looks back and considers:

"True, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the forbidden romance of my mother and father, but then again, we'd also might have a lot more Jedi running around, and maybe Palpatine wouldn't have taken over the galaxy."

Plus I'm pretty sure while trying to rebuild the Jedi Order, he would be taking the advice of the all the Force Ghosts he can speak with. I'm pretty sure Yoda, Obi-Wan, and maybe even Anakin would tell him it's a bad idea.

I'm wondering how much of the old traditions Luke carried on in his new academy? It would be weird, and interesting, if in EP VIII Rey has her head shaved and has a long lock like a tradtional Padawan.

And since he meant to be dead first time Oscar got offered the role, then JJ must haven't thought out much of Poe's arc. Then, Poe's fate is all up to Rian Johnson now.

I think they already have Poe as a big deal, but he fell out of the movie for a while so Finn and Rey could take the center stage. I suspect he will be sent off on another mission before all is said and done.

But he was originally written to be killed off early, which I think is the reason why he wasn't that prominent to the story in the 3rd Act. Yes, he led the attack against Starkiller, but due to his lack of development it wasn't as emotionally attached to me as Luke's attack on Death Star in ANH. I like Poe a lot, but his character feels like a secondary unit even if he was mentioned in the opening crawl.
