You know what I realized, Oscar, if you beef him up a lot, would've made a great superman. He has got that kind, personable disposition when he is talking to his friends that believably switches to the commandeering authority of a leader when he is flying, not to mention a tinge of sarcasm (without crossing over into snark mode) when he is talking to people he does not like.
I think he has more charisma and poise than Henry Cavil, so I'd go see him in it. The thing about having to fill Christopher Reeve's shoes is that he wasn't just a great Superman, he was a great actor who was immediately likeable. Sorry but while I'm sure Cavil is a nice guy, he just doesn't have the gravitas for Superman. Neither did Routh.
Oscar is in this film for maybe what? 10-15 minutes of sceen time and he's going to be a fan favorite for a long time.
He's done such good work prior to this film, I feel like all that he does and gets to do in the film is just the ultimate recognition of his past accomplishments. He gets to be an amazing starfighter pilot in a brand new Star Wars film. He's made it!
Was the reason why Luke gave the Force-sensitive trees seeds to Poe's parents, specifically mentioned? I wonder if this affects Poe's Force-sensitivity? And I'm curious if Luke gave the trees to his parents because he sees potential in their child? But btw, what does a Force-sensitive tree do? What's the use of it? I don't even know that.
With this set-up, I'm guessing Poe would have some kind of Force-telepathic connection with Rey in VIII, just like Luke and Leia. If he has this connection with Rey, then no doubt he'll have a bigger role in the next films.
I'm just wondering how would they give Poe a bigger part in the next films, since he seems to be the type who mostly stands by at the Resistance base and he's not the adventurer type, unless Leia sends him on a mission. Most likely, it's gonna be Rey-Finn-Luke's adventure in VIII. Or will it be Rey-Finn-Poe-Luke team? Will that be too much? Or just like V, separated Luke-Yoda and Han-Leia-Chewie teams, VIII will separate Rey-Luke-Chewie and Finn-Poe-BB8?
To be honest, I just really want to see Rey-Finn-Poe working as a team in the next film.
Can any ody think of a cool plot or character arc for Poe in the sequels? Or should he just remain as a background bad ass character througout the series?

Well, now that Rey is off with Luke I imagine Poe and Finn will get more time together. The real question is if/when Rey returns and if/when they all interact as a group. Because Rey, Finn, and Poe are the "big three" of this trilogy. Poe is definitely not going to just be a background character.
As far as a character arc goes, it's difficult to say since we didn't get to see that much of him in this film. If I had to guess I think it could involve Poe's devotion to the Resistance getting challenged for whatever reason. He's 100% dedicated to the cause and that kind of patriotism easily sets itself up to be subverted. Maybe there's a betrayal that happens and he becomes dissolutioned.
Yeah.Lol. Besides, Issac would be an excellent Zorro . He's got the charm and the swagger to be the playboy Diego while also having the sort of wink at the audience charm to play Zorro that Banderas and Guy Williams had .
Cast Benico Del Torro as the villain and Edward James Almos as his father, and you've got kick butt reboot.

I do wonder why we never got a proper meeting between Poe and Rey, especially before she took off with Chewie and BB8 to look for Luke. Will the next movie be their first introduction to each other?
In VIII opening scene, I'm thinking a few months have passed since the end of VII. So I highly doubt there will be any Poe and Rey's first meeting shown. I bet the first on-screen interaction between Poe and Rey is a casual conversation (perhaps abt Finn) like they already know each other for awhile.

I really think that Poe needs something more, because I feel that he can become one of the leads alongside Rey and Finn. Giving him a romance with Rey will definitely help, but I also think that General Leia should give him a very important task that requires the help of the other two to accomplish, and allow him to be in the front line of the main story line instead of background. Even without the gift of the Force, he can still be interesting, even more so if he takes his droid BB8 with him.
