The Force Awakens Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron

Well the whole might be from Aledraan scenario nobody believed for a sec;) is pretty much dispelled.
Attention die-hard "Star Wars" fans: Guatemalan actor Oscar Isaac thinks his character Poe Dameron in the next "Star Wars" film is from Yavin 4.
The star of the upcoming "Episode VII - The Force Awakens" revealed in an interview that his character may be from the same moon represented in 1977's "Episode IV: A New Hope," featuring the landscape of Tikal, the ancient Mayan city in Guatemala.
"What's actually very interesting is that Yavin ... at the end of the very first 'Star Wars' ... that last scene was shot in Guatemala and you know, I think that Poe Dameron is from that planet ... and that's a beautiful coincidence," he said.
Isaac was responding to a query about whether his character was in any way related to Bail Organa, played by Latin actor Jimmy Smits in "Episode II: Attack of the Clones."
"There's room in the Galaxy for more than one Latin family," the actor said with a laugh.

LOL, I do like that the random speculation made it to him though. He pretty much completely blows it away with that comment, confirmed Not from Alderaan.:funny:
To bad, story wise I think the last Alderaanian could have been a strong underlying and personal motive/strength for a character, (not that there aren't a million other motives) . I liked that potential, but that he can connect personally with the legit Guatemalan Mayan temples, and the fantasy Yavin temples, is awesome!

LOL Greedo's jumpsuit comes to mind.
Original series figures weren't known for their great accuracy:funny:, but it's all we had.
Getting his hair (or is that the visor?) closer to the right color would have helped.

I'l take their stylized simplicity over all the hideous power of the steroid-extreme-stance figures of the 90s.

Haha yeah, I've never been sure if that's supposed to be his hair or his visor. I think it is the visor but it looks enough like hair that it REALLY makes him look like a completely different character. Maybe it was originally supposed to be a Wedge Antilles figure but then they decided, "Meh, who gives a crap about him? Just make it Luke."

RyanSeacrest.com - ‘Ex Machina’ Actor Oscar Isaac Tells Us What He Can About ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

Ex Machina actor Oscar Isaac called in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest on Friday morning to talk about the sci-fi thriller, about a breakthrough experiment in artificial intelligence using a sexy female robot … but it was hard to not ask him about that other huge movie he’s starring in: Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens.

Still, it doesn’t mean he’s going to reveal any details about the highly-anticipated movie or his character, pilot Poe Dameron.

“The thing is I signed my organs away,” says Oscar. “If I say anything, they come and harvest them immediately. So I can’t really explain anything about the story other than to say he is a really badass pilot …”

Since his character, who is a new part of the franchise, is a pilot, does that mean he commands the Millennium Falcon? “This one is a very special different one, so I can’t say anything,” Oscar insists. “I definitely pilot an X-wing. We’ll see what else I pilot.”

As for any light saber action, the 35-year-old is equally mum. “I wear an orange jumpsuit, I can tell you that.”

Oscar Isaac was AMAZING in Ex Machina. He practically drove the movie with his charisma. Now I know for certain that he's a quality actor, and I'm stoked to see him in TFA. I could easily see him filling the Han Solo role in this series.

Yeah, he mostly carried Ex Machina for me, too. I wish I could say the same about Inside Llewyn Davis, not even he could save that.

If you relish on the excruciating downfall of the Cohen brothers, then you're a danger to society and you must be stopped.

JH: Did you audition? Was it just a general meeting? Did you have lines to read for it?

OI: Yeah. Actually it was an interesting process. I came in, JJ wanted me to play the role—the role was different—and then as the role evolved, I ended up coming in to read for it.

It's Coen brothers.

What?! You mean they're not related to the extremely talented Rob Cohen?

JJ Abrams said:
Dameron came out because it was, obviously, a name that I know, and it just musically felt right. There was no sort of deep reasoning behind it, and I also knew it would make Morgan blush if we named a character that. So she had this giant smile on her face.

We kept it for awhile, and it just stuck like things that work seem to.

We went through a bunch of different names, and Poe ultimately felt like the right name. Someone reminded me recently that my daughter had had a polar bear named Poe [or Po’ — short for “polar”], and that might’ve been why it felt right. There was a kind of sweetness to, and a charm to that name.

Hasbro Poe Dameron figure (September 4, 2015):

"An ace pilot, Poe Dameron is a leader in the Resistance's fight against the evil First Order. He soars into battle behind the controls of a modern X-Wing Fighter."

Poe Dameron is Black Leader, ace pilot of Black Squadron.

Wasn't expecting Shattered Empire to be his origin. Quite literally.

I liked how his parents look mixed, or are not-white.

I really am in love with this shot. Has that 1970's/80's vibe to it.

That looks like the same jacket Finn wears. I just figured it was an ordinary jacket but since Poe has one too, maybe it's part of the Resistance's uniform?

After they crash the TIE Fighter Finn takes his clothes.

Could it be Poe's jacket Finn has on when Rey helps him?
