The Force Awakens Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron

I think part of the reason Poe isn't given much to do in this movie is that he is going to fill part of the role that Han is leaving behind. The comparatively older, wisecracking ace-pilot. So I'm sure we'll get a lot more of him in upcoming movies. Still, doesn't make his absence here any better. I would've really liked a scene explaining how he got off Jakku for one.

I think they probably had a hard time juggling all these characters.

One of my only two real complaints with the film is the lack of Poe Dameron. Alongside Driver, Isaac is the best actor in the movie among the "new characters," and he left a hell of an impression with how little he had to work with. Nice flying.

Here, here. Though it is a testament to how good the character was that we're all clamoring for more of him.

I liked how much of a positive character he was.

That's the reason why the PT lacked; characters with bravado.

The non-lightsaber weilding standout in this film. Very badass.

One thing, did I miss how they explained he
got off Jakku?

[BLACKOUT]Like Bruce got off from wherever the Pit was in TDKR. Movie magic. But most probably he found a spaceship.[/BLACKOUT]

I liked that too. He had swagger, humor and he projected a kindness and a friendliness, in an old-fashioned way. More of that, please!

I agree.

I loved Poe's swagger. He was confident, outgoing, tough and committed to the cause.

One of my favourite lines of his was
when he said who talks first when confronted by Kylo Ren.

Like how quickly he was cool with Finn or how they hugged as if they knew each other for years or something.

That one tracking shot of him taking down several tie fighters and then a group of stormtroopers was utterly glorious. Luke always talked up his piloting skills but he aint no Poe:sly:

Well, Luke said "I'm not such a bad pilot myself". Guy was humble.

I need more Poe ASAP. Might be my favorite new character. He's our generation's Han Solo.

Yeah they should have at least show a scene of him getting out of Jakku.

Him showing up to save Han and the others was just like WTH is that him or what moment.

And when Finn said, I thought you were dead well blah blah blah I escaped during blah blah blah was kinda lazy movie making.

We all knew that Poe wasn't dead anyway from the trailers, so the off-hand explanation of how he survived the crash didn't bother me.

Not showing how he survived didn't bother me. A detour to do so would have killed the momentum that the movie was building.

Awesome addition, Oscar was always going to kill it. He's definitely going to
take Han's place

I LOVE that the film actually
opens with him

@Longshot: it's the best way to do it for dramatic effect, it's like moviemaking 101.

I adored Poe. I want to see more of him in the future films!
