Oscar Nominees Who Got Robbed

Christian Bale not getting a nomination for American Psycho. (nor the Machinist)

I think Denzel Washington should have won an Oscar for Malcom X over his role in Training Day. I actually thought Russel Crowe deserved it but because of his antics in public I think it cost him the Oscar.

Perhaps for Psycho but def. not for Machinist, he's not the only guy to become emaciated for his role... Dennis Quaid- Wyatt Earp (1994), which he kicked ass in by the way :cmad:

I didn't say he should have been nominated for losing so much weight. It was a great performance.

I CAN'T SLEEP!!! WOOOOOOOOO.... Um, no... It was decent but def not better than the following performances:

Jamie Fox - Ray
Leonardo Dicaprio - Aviator
JOhnny Depp - Finding Neverland
Don Chedle- Hotel Rwanda
Clint Eastwood- Million Dollar Baby

And then these two performances which weren't nominated

Paul Giamatti - Sideways
Jim Carrey - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Joaquin Phoenix for Walk The Line.

Not really, the strongest argument is that it was closed because Phillip Seymour Hoffman did an amazing job in Capote, he became the character...

Whatever...

Well it's true, look at those nominees compare to Bale's performance, you don't have a very strong argument, the thread title is "Oscar Nominees Who Got ROBBED

Personally, I thought Ellen Burstyn should have won best actress for Requiem for a Dream, instead of Julia Roberts for Erin Brokovich. Roberts performance was good, but Burstyn's blew me away.

Def. Agree, Roberts performance was typical Roberts, Burstyn was amazing

I haven't seen most of them actually. I have seen Leonardo Dicaprio in the Aviator (the only movie where I kinda liked him) and Clint Eastwood in Million Dollar Baby (Clint is always good) I do think Bale did a better job than the both of 'em.
And I do not plan on seeing the other three...:p

:D That's cool, I'm just saying I have seen all of them and at least in my opinion, as an eltist jackass movie watcher as you have become accustom to :D, he simply wasn't robbed, it's a good performance but I found the movie strength was in it's directing and cinematic aspects which complented Bale's performance. But Chedle and Giamatti blow him away. But as you know I respect your opinion.

Hotel Rwanda, Sideways and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind are all must-sees, but ESotSM is over-rated.

Okay i didn't really mean ''robbed'' I think it's just a shame that he wasn't nominated for it. I don't care about the oscars anyway (but deep in our hearts we all do...admit it..)

I tried watching ESOTSM but I got so extremely annoyed and bored I quit.

Sideways looks nice though. And I heard Hotel Rwanda is impressive. I might check those out somewhere in the distant future.

I personally think the direction of ESOTSM is dull, but I like the performances and the script which makes it's a cool flick, poor Jim he's got the chops for dramatic acting, he just doesn't have the respect :( The Machinist in general is over-rated in my opinion I liked it, and I get the symbolism but that doesn't make it amazing.

Ive said it before and Ill say it again...

Cate Blanchett lost for Elizabeth to Gwyneth Paltrow for Shakespears in Love:mad:

ROBBED.

If Scorsesse doesn't get his Oscar Award in nearest 5-8 years, then I will hire terminator to liquidate Oscar Awards

I would agree. He was Malcolm X.

They gave it to Denzel simply because they felt they had to because he was black.

I disagree with the statement that Denzel and Halle got it cuz there black. I feel bad for Halle and Denzel who will have to live with that stigma since it's insinuated all the time, and truely shows how racist our culture still is. But it's sad that a lot of critically acclaimed roles of black actors are roles that center on there being black instead of being a role that any person could play of any creed, when we get to that point, I believe we'll have made a step in terms of racism, not simply because a black actor gets an oscar... Hell Uncle Remus got that back in the 50s...

L.A. Confidential is disgustingly overrated, sure it's a mildly entertaining flick. If it weren't for it's cast, I doubt people would have remembered it.
