The only good thing done with the character was to show that he really did love Jean. Both at the end of X2 when he's pleading with the team to get Jean back on the jet, and his role in X-Men 3 showed that if nothing else, he at least cared enough about Jean to fight and die for her.

i do understand that Cyclops was the leader of the x-men, my point being was that Cyclops was pushed aside as leader as when you look at the three movies the first one wolverine sort of leaded the way, the second one he was kidnapped so really jean and storm took over and in the third well as i said he was a changed mand...

Not at all. Cyclops was undoubtedly Prof X's number 2. Especially in the first one.

Wolverine was just this guy who along with Rogue, got thrust into this world of the X-Men. The emphasis seems to be more on Wolverine in the first one because it is about him being introduced to this world, the viewer can relate to that because we are being introduced to this world too.

But in no way is Wolverine the leader. Undeniable. Just because there is more focus on him doesn't mean he is the leader.
