The Avengers Our director: Joss Whedon!

Oh and FYI, a few of my friends walked out with a crush on him :p

It's hard not to. What I see as not enough Hawkeye in this installment, will just simply be used for greater advancement in upcoming movies. This was the Fellowship of the Ring, we still have TTT and the grande finale of ROTK to look forward to, with even more character bad ass moments and development.

Whedon should be directing all the movies from now on. What an incredible job he did, and only his 2nd film. He is a savant.

Thank you, Joss Whedon!!!
That's all I have to say for now!
Looking foward to getting the bluray for this movie.

Considering Joss Whedon made better film than the solo films Iron man 3,Thor 2,and Captain America 2 may all be letdowns after the Avengers.Iron Man 3 may not have any
connections to The Avengers.Obviously Thor 2 will show what happens to Loki now.Captain AMerica 2 Is suspose to be first film where a lot of fallout from the Avengers Is
suspose to take place.

Is marvel doesn't bring Joss back for the Avengers 2 we should all boycat It.That will also be film where we will see If Disney Is willing to pay Robert Downey JR to keep playing Tony Stark.

I have to disagree. Solo films have one major advantage. They can focus more on the individual character, and their "world". Which should be fairly unique. Both things you sacrifice in a crossover.

That was part of the problem with Iron Man 2. The SHIELD stuff was forced in.

I liked the Avengers more than any solo film.My favorate solo film was The Incredible Hulk. While I understand the Iron Man 2 ciritsim It would have been different with Joss
writing It.Joss did a much better confrontation between Thor and Loki than the solo film.Joss proved what you can do with Black widow.

Thank you, Joss!

I seriously want to praise him for his choice of angles and camera work.

Remember the shot of Cap standing giving orders through a mirror? Subtle, but cool. Joss is the best.

seems as though everyone has glossed over my whedon comment.
whedon (the director of avengers) wrote the forward for the ultimates (marvel's alternate univese avengers) almost 8 years ago. it's like it was destiny he would one day direct them.

also nick fury is drawn like SLJ and the character of nick fury mentions robert downey jrn ('he'll be more smashed than RDJ')

weird.

I had no idea he wrote the forward to that. Writing the forward to the most readable Avengers books(imo), explains alot.

When people gush over moments and characterization now(as opposed to previous years), I actually believe them.

I definately saw a lot of ultimates in the avengers so it's obvious joss was influenced by the books.

Marti Noxon on how Buffy outlines were made:

“I would say 90 percent of the time Joss really broke all our stories and drove that process. We’d sit in the room for hours and say, ‘Maybe this is good.’ And he’d come in the room for 10 minutes and say something that was 90 percent better. And we’d all want to kill ourselves.”
–Marti Noxon, writer (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Fright Night)

I love that :)

Definitely. Besides, he's the kind of character that suited a bit of mystery :) The member of the group who keeps himself to himself, and that no one really knows that much about.

They generally think his's too funny (or tries to be funny, but is smug) and all his characters are so witty that it sucks away drama or a level of seriousness from the proceedings. That or he's campy (though only one of his shows was really full camp and his only other film was anything but). They also think that because he made four TV series that his direction would be TV-ish and lack scope by pointing out how little spectacle there was in Serenity (which ignoring it was made for $39 million).

They are of course wrong. :oldrazz:

In my opinion.

Just gonna quote Whedon here:

'I hate it when people talk about Buffy as being campy... I hate camp, I don't enjoy dumb TV. I believe Aaron Spelling has single-handedly lowered SAT scores.'

The Ultimates was a great basis for TA. Not only because I prefer Ultimate Nick Fury, but because SHIELD being what pulls them together makes a lot more sense from a storytelling perspective, in my opinion.

read ultimates 1 and 2 last night, great story.

I said the same thing a few years back and got blasted. To many wanted things based more off the 616 Universe and Shield shouldn't be a part of it and blah blah blah. The Ultimate universe is easier to adapt into a film cause The 616 universe is just so convoluted due to the decades it's been out. That's my opinion though.

He and Drew Goddard love to use mirrors. Something I've begun to notice.

:woot: Cabin In The Woods = awesome.

Here's a fun little story: I've been on Joss Whedon's voicemail!

I went to a pre-screening of Cabin In The Woods and, low and behold, Drew Goodard was there. He did a little intro to the film and then a Q and A afterwords. Someone asked a question that made him actually give Joss Whedon a call to confirm. Unfortunately Joss didn't pick up (le sigh) but Dew left a message, during which he said "oh...i'm here with about 200 people, say 'hi' to Joss everyone!" ...and I did...very very loudly and with much adoration.

The End.

P.S. Joss Whedon is a legend and a gift from the gods.

If people want to avoid 616 universe so much why call this the avengers? Why not call
It the Ultimates then.

avengers has more brand recognition. they even changed the name of the animated movies to 'ultimate avengers'

I can certainly see why the story elements was taken from the Ultimates. It's very nature is that it's more streamlined and easier to get into.

But thank **** the characterisations are from the 616. Cannibal Hulk and jingo Cap wouldn't go over too well.

The ultimate Influences as I saw It were primarly Nick fury,Hawkeye, conecting hulk's origin to super soldier program,Shield bringing avengers together, and Avengers uniting
to battle alien Invision.

Shield itself comes across as cross between 616 and Ultimate to me.

The rest of characters are mainly 616 with Bruce Banner seems mainly based on TV show David banner(with some elements of 616 Bruce Banner)

Joss Whedon keep It from becoming the Ultimates the movie and having things from 616 universe.

I agree. While I love The Ultimates 1 & 2, Millar went overboard with some of the characterization such as Hulk & Cap (like you mentioned), as well as Henry Pym being a real wife-beater. However, the concept of SHIELD is implemented better over at The Ultimates than 616, due to the fact that it allows one organization to be responsible for building the team together instead of letting them come together by chance or other ways that are bad in terms of narratives on the big screen.

I hope Marvel will come out with a press release to announce that they've signed Whedon to multiple pictures deal and to keep him as the director of TA2 & 3, because I'd hate to see him being hired away by WB or other studios to make movies when the sequel for The Avengers about to be shot. Whedon, more than Favreau, Branagh, and Johnson, cannot be easily replaced due to his script and influence in the movies that he makes. Marvel cannot turn to a hired hand for TA2 because I for one will not be optimistic about its success without Whedon.

Hahah that's great.

I went to a "Cabin" screening too because a buddy of mine grew up with Drew in New Mexico. Drew is funny like that, I remember when we were hanging out with him afterwards having a drink, he was talking about how nervous he gets doing those Q and A's. This one guy in the audience made some snarky comment about Cloverfield and how he wanted his money back. Drew gave him a $20. LOL ..... I booed the guy so hard for hating on that movie.

I made sure to save all my Avengers prodding until later in the night. I knew he wasn't going to tell me too much ...... apparently Drew has seen The Avengers four times already lol .....
