Sober- Butch Walker

Can you please, remind me how you feel?
This emptiness is real, I can't bear the thought of it.
and please, remind me how to smile, I lost track after awhile.
Is happiness so hard to get?

Is it me, or is this over?
As I got sober, I watched you fade away.
Is it me, or is this ending?
As I was pretending, I watched you fade away.

I didn't know, that time could move so slow,
when you've got nowhere to go, the silence is so deafening.
Waking up, on the wrong side of your mind.
How could I have been so blind, to see I'm losing everything?

Is it me, or is this over?
As I got sober, I watched you fade away.
Is it me, or is this ending?
As I was pretending, I watched you fade away.

Oh, Sooner or later, we gotta stop this elevator.
You go your way and I'll go mine, I'm sure that I'll be fine.

Now is it me, or is this over?
As I got sober, I watched you fade away.
Is it me, or is this ending?
As I was pretending, I watched you fade away.
Sober, as I got sober.
As I got sober, I watched you fade, I watched you fade.

Artist: Primitive Radio Gods Lyrics
Song: Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth With Money in My Hand

Jan lays down and wrestles in her sleep
Moonlight spills on comic books
And superstars in magazines
An old friend calls and tells us where to meet
Her plane takes off from Baltimore
And touches down on Bourbon street

We sit outside and argue all night long
About a god we've never seen
But never fails to side with me
Sunday comes and all the papers say
Ma Teresa's joined the mob
And happy with her full time job

Am I alive or thoughts that drift away?
Does summer come for everyone?
Can humans do what prophets say?
If I die before I learn to speak
Can money pay for all the days I lived awake
But half asleep?

A life is time, they teach you growing up
The seconds ticking killed us all
A million years before the fall
You ride the waves and don't ask where they go
You swim like lions through the crest
And bathe yourself in zebra flesh

I've been downhearted baby
Ever since the day we met

I loved this song

Kansas - Dust In The Mind

I close my eyes, only for a moment, and the moment's gone
All my dreams, pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind, all they are is dust in the wind
Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do, crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see

Dust in the wind, All we are is dust in the wind

Don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away, all your money won't another minute buy

Dust in the wind, All we are is dust in the wind

Seal - Kiss From A Rose

There used to be a greying tower all alone on the sea
You became the light on the dark side of me
Love remains a drug gets me high, that's how I feel
Did you know that when it snows my eyes become enlarged
And the light that you shine can be seen

Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey
The more I get of you, the stranger it feels, yeah
Now that your rose is in bloom, a light hits the gloom on the grey

There is so much a man can tell you, so much he can say
You remain my power, my pleasure, my pain, baby
To me you're like a growing addiction that I can't deny
Won't you tell me is that healthy, babe?
But did you know that when it snows, my eyes become enlarged
And the light that you shine can be seen

Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey
The more I get of you, the stranger it feels, yeah
Now that your rose is in bloom, a light hits the gloom on the grey
I've been kissed by a rose on the grey, I've been kissed by a rose
I've been kissed by a rose on the grey (If I should fall...)

There is so much a man can tell you, so much he can say
You remain my power, my pleasure, my pain
To me you're like a growing addiction that I can't deny
Won't you tell me is that healthy, babe
But did you know, that when it snows, my eyes become enlarged
And the light that you shine can be seen

Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey
The more I get of you, the stranger it feels, yeah
Now that your rose is in bloom, a light hits the gloom on the grey

[Ludacris]
Now little Lisa's only 9 years old
She's tryna figure out why the world is so cold
While she's all alone and ain't never met her family
Mama's always gone and she never met her daddy
Part of her is missing and nobody will listen
Mama's on drugs gettin' high up in the kitchen
Bringin' home men at different hours of the night
Startin' with some laughs... usually ending in a fight
Sneakin' in her room when her mama's knocked out
Tryna have his way and little Lisa says 'ouch'
She tries to resist but then all he does is beat her
Tries to tell her mom but her mama don't believe her
Lisa's stuck up in the world on her own
Forced to think that Hell is a place called home
Nothin' else to do but get some clothes and pack
She says she's bout to run away and never come back

[Mary J Blige]
Runaway Love(runaway, runaway) bi Runaway Love(runaway love)
Runaway Love(loooove) Runaway Love(runaway love)

[Ludacris]
Little Nicole is only 10 years old
She's steady tryna figure out why the world is so cold
Why she's not pretty and nobody seems to like her
Alcoholic step-dad always wanna strike her
Yells and abuses leaves her with some bruises
Teachers ask questions she's makin' up excuses
Bleeding on the inside crying on the out
It's only one girl who really knows what she's about
Her name is little Stacey and they become friends
Promise that they'll always be tight till the end
Until one day little Stacey gets shot
A drive-by bullet went stray up on da block
Now Nicole's stuck up in the world on her own
Forced to think that Hell is a place called home
Nothin' else to do but get her clothes and pack
She says she's bout to run away and never come back

[Mary J Blige]
Runaway Love(runaway) Runaway Love(runaway love)

[Ludacris]
Little Ericka is 11 years old
She's steady tryna figure out why the world is so cold
So she pops X to get rid of all the pain
Plus she's having sex with a boy who's sixteen
Emotions run deep and she thinks she's in love
So there's no protection he's using no glove
Never thinkin' bout the conceqences of her actions
Livin' for today and not tomorrow's satisfaction
The days go by and her belly gets big
The father bails out he ain't ready for a kid
Knowin' her mama would blow it all out of proportion
Plus she lives poor so no money for abortion
Ericka's stuck up in the world on her own
Forced to think that Hell is a place called home
Nothin' else to do but get her clothes and pack
She says she's bout to run away and never come back

[Mary J Blige]

Sometimes I feel like running away myself
So do me a favor right now and close your eyes
And picture us running away together and
When we come back everything is gonna be OK

(whisper) Open your eyes.

Back to the Earth by Rusted Root

Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Ah, back to the earth,
I screamed and
And no one listened to me
Back to the earth
I lived and they all follow

Well come on, come on, see my world, my world.
Well, come on, come on, see my world, my world,

Well come on, come on, see my world, my world.
Well, come on, come on, see my world, my world,

Well, I’m comin’ down now too,
Write my way.
Well, come on, come on see my world,
Won’t you fly, high
Well come on, come on see my world.
Well come on, come on see my world, my world, hey, hey.

Write my way a write my way, my way.
Write my way, a write my way, hey, hey.
Write my way a write my way, my way.
Write my way, a write my way, hey, hey.

Back to the earth, I feel it.
Back to the earth I’m fallin’
Ah, back to the earth, I feel it.
Back to the earth, I’m fallin’.

Many divisions of you
Many divisions of me
Many divisions of you
Many divisions of me
Many divisions of you
Many divisions of me
Many divisions of you
Many divisions of me when we are so young.

Hey-oh mom, momma, free my soul
Hey-oh, day momma
Hey-oh mom, momma, free my soul
Hey-oh, day momma
Hey-oh mom, momma, free my soul
Hey-oh, day momma

Hey-oh mom, momma, free my soul
Hey oh day momma

Hey oh day momma
Hey-oh mom, momma, free my soul
Hey-oh, day momma
Hey-oh mom, momma, free my soul
Hey-oh, day momma
Hey-oh mom, momma, free my soul
Hey oh day momma
Hey-oh mom, momma, free my soul

Back to the earth, I feel it, yeah.
Back to the earth, I’m fallin’

Röyksopp - Remind Me

It's only been a week
The rush of being home and rapid fading
Failing to recall
When I was missing all that time in England

Has sent me aimlessly
On foot or by the help of transportation
To knock on windows where
A friend no longer live, I had forgotten

And everywhere I go
There's always something to remind me
Of another place and time
Of a love that travelled far and found me

We stayed outside till two
Waiting for the light to come back
We didn't talk I knew
Until you asked what I was thinking
Until you asked what I was thinking

Brave men tell the truth
The wise man's tools are analogies and puzzles
A woman holds her tongue
Knowing silence will speak for her

Brave men tell the truth
The wise man's tools are analogies and puzzles
A woman holds her tongue
Knowing silence will speak for her

And everywhere I go
There's always something to remind me
Of another place and time
Of a love that travelled far and found me

James Carrington Ache Lyrics
Isn't it strange, the way things can change
The life that you lead, turned on it's head
suddenly someone, means more than you felt before
house and its yard, turns into home.
I'm sorry but I meant to say, many things along the way, so this one's for you.

Have I told you I ache, have I told you I ache,
Have I told you I ache, for you...

Have I told you I ache, and I hope it's not too late,
Can I hold you and ache, for you...

The time that it took, writing words for my book,
seems to have broken off.

The gate that I shut,
last time I got hurt
seems to have opened itself
oh the world it's spinnin' now,
it's tryin' catch me up
tell me to appreciate, here and now
I'm sorry but I meant to say
so many things along the way
so this one's for you.

Have I told you I ache, Have I told you I ache, have I told you I ache, for you...

Have I told you I ache, and I hope it's not too late, can I hold you and ache, for you...

Pocket Dwellers - Concepts

Lady Macbeth asked me to stab her husband to death
And we would wed and I would run for president
But I was hesitant; it was evident that she was greedy
And would assassinate me like Kennedy
When she didn't have a need for me
(Read for me)
Brothas who lack skills but wish to take things
Have great expectations
Or great imitations like Gatsby
Or perhaps be a duo personality like Jeckel and Hyde
I've got a prejudice to pride
I'm the lord of rings, the lord of flies
The lord of war & peace but I surmise, I surprise
With these clouds up in my eyes
At wuthering heights; a hand full of Arabian nights
These women shake while I spear these men in tights
(It all unravels)
At times I feel big and small like Gulliver on his travels
I'm a taming of a shrew that you can't handle
Walk this earth like Jesus did in sandals
Love, I'm the verbal vandal
Love, I'm the verbal vandal

(Chorus)
My concepts is bomb threats
For those who want to hold comets
Emcees, hold your comments
Please, hold your comments

I speak mainly of mice and men
I'll impale them another death of a salesman
My souls on ice when I hold loot like Ebineazer
Betrayed by my main man like Brutus did to Caesar
And Judas did Jesus
Cannibals, like the witch in Hansel and Gretal
PD make this **** for real like Geppetto to Pinocchio
That's the way it's supposed to go
You could die for love Romeo, man I told you so....
They lost in me like I'm odysseys
A narcissus, so I'm not known for my modesty
But honestly, these women have heming-ways
And don't see the importance of being earnest
I mean Nige really try to burn this like Hades
On the eleventh labour of Hercules
Considered a Don Juan but had to work for these
And drew up blanks
She read of loving me in diaries by Anne Frank
Cameron yelled "Cut!!" as the Titanic sank, as the Titanic sank

(Chorus)

I flicker like a candle in the wind
Was mistaken for a changeling
It's the same thing as Othello,
A native son with a native tongue
A mystery like that web that charlotte spun
One hundred years in solitude
I followed you like Ahab did the great white
On Broadway just to learn to play right
I put my pen down on the Twelfth Night
then like Icarus I took flight
I concur brave new worlds
Make wives out of girls
Have the little mermaid boost me pearls
In this war of the worlds
On this side of paradise
Like steppenwolf I terrorize
Watch Medusa in her eyes
And watch her crystallize
I laugh
Have your girl feeding me the grapes of wrath
On page 511 but still can't feel the half
I'm math like the meaning of relativity
PD is quality of graffiti
But cats can't read we brothers act greedy
They don't understand that the industry is sneaky
They don't want a brother getting owners of lot
I do it like this and try to control owned rhymes
Even though I put my soul on the dotted line
Brother better understand that we try to shine
In place concepts, brothers don't see the myth
I do this like god given as I speak my gift
Uplift
It be the tribes of scribe
We do it like this
And these brothers don't see that we repel
Pocket Dwell, and excel in any context!

Nadine (Is It You?) - Chuck Berry

As I got on a city bus and found a vacant seat,
I thought I saw my future bride walking up the street,
I shouted to the driver hey conductor, you must slow down.
I think I see her please let me off this bus

Nadine, honey is that you?
Oh, Nadine. Honey, is that you?
Seems like every time I see you Darling you got something else to do

I saw her from the corner when she turned and doubled back
And started walkin' toward a coffee colored cadillac
I was pushin' through the crowd to get to where she's at
And I was campaign shouting like a southern diplomat

Nadine, honey is that you?
Oh, Nadine. Honey, is that you?
Seems like every time I catch you,
datcha you're up to something new

Downtown searching for her, looking all around.
Saw her getting in a yellow cab heading up town.
I caught a loaded taxi, paid up everybody's tab.
With a twenty dollar bill, told him 'catch that yellow cab.'

Nadine, honey is that you?
Oh, Nadine. Honey, is that you?
Seems like every time I catch you,
Datcha you're up to something new

She move around like a wave of summer breeze,
Go, driver, go, go, catch her balmy breeze.
Moving thru the traffic like a mounted cavalier.
Leaning out the taxi window trying to make her hear

Nadine, honey is that you?
Oh, Nadine. Honey, is that you?
Seems like every time I see you Darling you got something else to do

The Beatles - Happiness is a Warm Gun

She's not a girl who misses much
Do do do do do do do, oh yeah
She's well acquainted with the touch of the velvet hand
Like a lizard on a window pane

The man in the crowd with the multicoloured mirrors
On his hobnail boots
Lying with his eyes while his hands are busy
Working overtime
A soap impression of his wife which he ate
And donated to the National Trust.

I need a fix 'cause I'm going down
Down to the bits that I left uptown
I need a fix cause I'm going down

Mother Superior jump the gun
Mother Superior jump the gun
Mother Superior jump the gun
Mother Superior jump the gun
Mother Superior jump the gun
Mother Superior jump the gun

Happiness is a warm gun
Happiness is a warm gun
When I hold you in my arms
And I feel my finger on your trigger
I know nobody can do me no harm
Because happiness is a warm gun
Happines is a warm gun
Yes it is

Happiness is a warm yes it is...gun....

Hurricane - Bob Dylan

Pistols shots ring out in the barroom night
Enter Patty Valentine from the upper hall
She sees the bartender in a pool of blood
Cries out "My God they killed them all"
Here comes the story of the Hurricane
The man the authorities came to blame
For something that he never done
Put him in a prison cell but one time he could-a been
The champion of the world.

Three bodies lying there does Patty see
And another man named Bello moving around mysteriously
"I didn't do it" he says and he throws up his hands
"I was only robbing the register I hope you understand
I saw them leaving" he says and he stops
"One of us had better call up the cops"
And so Patty calls the cops
And they arrive on the scene with their red lights flashing
In the hot New Jersey night.

Meanwhile far away in another part of town
Rubin Carter and a couple of friends are driving around
Number one contender for the middleweight crown
Had no idea what kinda **** was about to go down
When a cop pulled him over to the side of the road
Just like the time before and the time before that
In Patterson that's just the way things go
If you're black you might as well not shown up on the street
'Less you wanna draw the heat.

Alfred Bello had a partner and he had a rap for the corps
Him and Arthur Dexter Bradley were just out prowling around
He said "I saw two men running out they looked like
middleweights
They jumped into a white car with out-of-state plates"
And Miss Patty Valentine just nodded her head
Cop said "Wait a minute boys this one's not dead"
So they took him to the infirmary
And though this man could hardly see
They told him that he could identify the guilty men.

Four in the morning and they haul Rubin in
Take him to the hospital and they bring him upstairs
The wounded man looks up through his one dying eye
Says "Wha'd you bring him in here for ? He ain't the guy !"
Yes here comes the story of the Hurricane
The man the authorities came to blame
For something that he never done
Put in a prison cell but one time he could-a been
The champion of the world.

Four months later the ghettos are in flame
Rubin's in South America fighting for his name
While Arthur Dexter Bradley's still in the robbery game
And the cops are putting the screws to him looking for somebody
to blame
"Remember that murder that happened in a bar ?"
"Remember you said you saw the getaway car?"
"You think you'd like to play ball with the law ?"
"Think it might-a been that fighter you saw running that night
?"
"Don't forget that you are white".

Arthur Dexter Bradley said "I'm really not sure"
Cops said "A boy like you could use a break
We got you for the motel job and we're talking to your friend
Bello
Now you don't wanta have to go back to jail be a nice fellow
You'll be doing society a favor
That sonofa***** is brave and getting braver
We want to put his ass in stir
We want to pin this triple murder on him
He ain't no Gentleman Jim".

Rubin could take a man out with just one punch
But he never did like to talk about it all that much
It's my work he'd say and I do it for pay
And when it's over I'd just as soon go on my way
Up to some paradise
Where the trout streams flow and the air is nice
And ride a horse along a trail
But then they took him to the jailhouse
Where they try to turn a man into a mouse.

All of Rubin's cards were marked in advance
The trial was a pig-circus he never had a chance
The judge made Rubin's witnesses drunkards from the slums
To the white folks who watched he was a revolutionary bum
And to the black folks he was just a crazy ******
No one doubted that he pulled the trigger
And though they could not produce the gun
The DA said he was the one who did the deed
And the all-white jury agreed.

Rubin Carter was falsely tried
The crime was murder 'one' guess who testified
Bello and Bradley and they both baldly lied
And the newspapers they all went along for the ride
How can the life of such a man
Be in the palm of some fool's hand ?
To see him obviously framed
Couldn't help but make me feel ashamed to live in a land
Where justice is a game.

Now all the criminals in their coats and their ties
Are free to drink martinis and watch the sun rise
While Rubin sits like Buddha in a ten-foot cell
An innocent man in a living hell
That's the story of the Hurricane
But it won't be over till they clear his name
And give him back the time he's done
Put him in a prison cell but one time he could-a been
The champion of the world.

one of the best songs ever written, played and sung.

Without question. I know it's a controversial opinion, but for the life of me I can't think of any Dylan song I know that I honestly can choose over this one as his best. Maybe "Just Like A Woman", but the way "Hurricane" plays out on record is amazing. It feels like a movie in many ways. Compare the way the song is written to the way actions in most movie scripts are described and you'll see what I mean.

No Doubt - Don't Speak

You and me
We used to be together
Everyday together always
I really feel
That I'm losing my best friend
I can't believe
This could be the end
It looks as though you're letting go
And if it's real
Well I don't want to know

Don't speak
I know just what you're saying
So please stop explaining
Don't tell me cause it hurts
Don't speak
I know what you're thinking
I don't need your reasons
Don't tell me cause it hurts

Our memories
Well, they can be inviting
But some are altogether
Mighty frightening
As we die, both you and I
With my head in my hands
I sit and cry

Don't speak
I know just what you're saying
So please stop explaining
Don't tell me cause it hurts (no, no, no)
Don't speak
I know what you're thinking
I don't need your reasons
Don't tell me cause it hurts

It's all ending
I gotta stop pretending who we are...
You and me I can see us dying...aren't we?

Don't speak
I know just what you're saying
So please stop explaining
Don't tell me cause it hurts (no, no, no)
Don't speak
I know what you're thinking
I don't need your reasons
Don't tell me cause it hurts
Don't tell me cause it hurts!
I know what you're saying
So please stop explaining

Don't speak,
don't speak,
don't speak,
oh I know what you're thinking
And I don't need your reasons
I know you're good,
I know you're good,
I know you're real good
Oh, la la la la la la La la la la la la
Don't, Don't, uh-huh Hush, hush darlin'
Hush, hush darlin' Hush, hush
don't tell me tell me cause it hurts
Hush, hush darlin' Hush, hush darlin'
Hush, hush don't tell me tell me cause it hurts

The Verve
All in the mind

So I got in the car
We drove for a mile
I didn't even learn her name
She said: "You've got the money and I've got the time"

Five years later on
She became my lover
Taught me everything I know
She said: "You were born to fly my son"
I said: "Hey! I already know"

Because it's all inside
Because it's all inside
I was born to fly, fly pretty high

Five years later on
She became my father
Taught me everything I know
She said: "You were born to burn my love"
I said: "Hey! I already know"

Chorus x2

So waste your time
On people who don't know which way to go
They'll never said you were, never said
You were up in the sky
Because it's all in the mind

Just get in the car
Turn out the light
Don't care who you are
You could be a star
Or you could be a fool
Don't care what I find
It's All In The Mind

they were super-duper-awesome when on all kind of drugs.

it's definitley one of the more intense dylan songs.

Stephen Malkmus Baby C'mon Lyrics

With a thousand tiny terrors
No more weekend shares
Make it get away
Baby come on

If you give it to me timmy
I'm out here on a limb-y
I don't need hideaways
Baby come on

well, half-way through my life
I flipped on internal ***** so
Tell it to me straight
Baby come on

And i know that the shapes are great
So i won't hesitate
To leave it at the door
Baby come on

I see you're under my diamond
I see you driving the winter shell

So you say that you're too old to yell
But too young for hell
It's not far away
Baby come on

If a life of tears cuts you down
You can sit around
I won't make you stay
Baby, come on

I see your lovely traffic pose
I see you're trailing what you're good for

Baby come on
Baby come on
Baby come on
Baby come on, let me come

Baby come on
Baby come on
Baby come on

it's definitley one of the more intense dylan songs.

Exactly. You could feel the whole tension of the situation. The line "All the criminals in their coats and their ties are free to drink martinis and watch the sunrise" is one of the most profound and truthful words ever written.

This next song is one I'd like to be played at my funeral, not that I want it to happe any time soon.

All Things Must Pass - George Harrison

Sunrise doesnt last all morning
A cloudburst doesnt last all day
Seems my love is up and has left you with no warning
Its not always going to be this grey

All things must pass
All things must pass away

Sunset doesnt last all evening
A mind can blow those clouds away
After all this, my love is up and must be leaving
Its not always going to be this grey

All things must pass
All things must pass away
All things must pass
None of lifes strings can last
So, I must be on my way
And face another day

Now the darkness only stays the night-time
In the morning it will fade away
Daylight is good at arriving at the right time
Its not always going to be this grey

All things must pass
All things must pass away
All things must pass
All things must pass away

Moloko Fun For Me.

No point in posting the lyrics since they are nonsense.
