Over The Edge

"Drop the knife...or I'll shove it down your throat sideways!" - Batman circa 1974.

Man, this is really getting outta hand. The point that you guys are trying to make is that comics have always been this violent and gratuitous. Come on! Everything is so much more violent and raunchier nowadays. the 70's and 80's were all about fun adventures. Secret War. That was a fun adventure. Civil War? well that speaks for itself. You cant compare the violence nowadays to the violence back then. Yes I definitly agree there were some exceptions, there were books that pushed the limit, but they were very few back then. Now almost every marvel 616 book is trying to become this ultra realistic mirror of the real world. hmm, i thought thats what the Ultimate line was for...

Listen, i personally am not complaining about any of it but like memphis slim, its a lil shocking to still see these heroes act this way. Captain America is waaay more intense then he was back in the 80's, Luke cage is an excellent example of a modern revamp, and now even Spiderman is breaking bones right and left. Marvel was all fun back in the 80's now its been revamped into this gritty version of the real world.

So come one guys give Slim a break, I think you guys blew his argument way outta proportion.

dude, the books pushed SERIOUS limits back then.. hell spidey was one of the big ones..

-killing off a main character, a character the hero loved
-LCD and harry
-Gwen and "color me yellow" or yellow taxi or somethin yellow... it was a ronchy film at the time she wanted peter to go see with her.

Comics push limits...back then they were doing things people were astounded by, these days.. nothins much of a shocker in them... now when they have hulkling and wiccan kiss that will be opening a needed envelope and pushing the limits that stan did back in the silver age.

I was reading this issue with my mother right next to me and she noticed Ultron's boobs :(

She's not naked because there are no nipples. Fact.

It's just oh so hypocritical. His problem with Ultron is that she is a woman and "naked" and that Janet and Carol spew random symbols (which if you read the issue are in thought bubbles, not dialogue bubbles, so they're thinking them, not saying them missed that detail didn't you Slim) but he has no problem with the Sentry beating up on a robot woman and the other acts of wanton violence in the book. No, it's the shiny boobs and random symbols which are the problem.

You know, after further thought, Celldog has a point, and I think we all need to realize that. Celldog, you're totally right. Here's how the scene should've been:
