See, I wouldnt want it to be a "real movie." Yes, it was choppy but that made it feel "real" to me. If it were a slick Hollywood movie, it would be....just another slick Hollywood movie. I liked that I saw something different in this film. I dont know about you, but I think real life is kind of "choppy" and not as cut and dry and "convenient" as a Hollywood flick. It doesnt go as smoothly as a written drama.

I dunno. I liked the movie and if you didnt, thats fine.

I was amazed at how many people got into the movie. I hadnt heard so many honest screams and gasps since I saw the original The Grudge.
I didn't want it to be a "slick" Hollywood movie. I hate those movies. I'll give it points for the degree of ingenuity behind some of its tricks and illusions, 'cause those seemed fairly difficult to pull off convincingly, but I would have liked some drive, some sense of creative energy and purpose to whole thing. That would have made it a movie, instead of an attraction. [REC] is a good example of how this should have been done.

[REC] is a great example!

This movie, much like Quarantine, loved it's ending so much that the promoted it in all of their ads before anyone had a chance to be shocked by it in theaters.

did you get a good crowd or were they apathetic? mine had a lot of screams in the end scene. maybe thats why i liked it more, the crowd was so alive
I actually didn't see it with an audience at all, I torrented it. I said somewhere that I probably would have dug the thing more, and would have been more forgiving if I had been in an audience where I would have been caught up in the energy of the people around me. But that's precisely why I call it a Disney ride instead of a movie: it doesn't hold up without the communal energy of the audience around you. I'll concede that it's probably worthwile and entertaining if you're in a good audience, but even then that just makes it a really good Disney ride, not a really good movie.

Come to think of it, Paranormal Activity is significantly cheaper than a Disney ride or any kind of carnival attraction, so if you want to see it on that basis I think it would be definitely worth your money. But I don't think it should be called a movie, mostly because it fails to come together as one, and remains a series of bells and whistles without any kind of filmmaking craft.

I loved how the ****ing posters for Quarantine spoiled the ending. I don't think any movie poster has done that before.

i hated how Quarantine was just took everything from [REC]
might as well show [REC] in theaters and save some money

How did they even get away with copying everything from REC?

Also Sarge2.0 bascially Paranormal Activity is a cheap disney movie like knock off?

Think I will check the movie out next week or something.

And yet [REC] was infinitely better.

If you're referring to the visual effects, the camera was stationary in every shot, really cuts down on the difficulty.

Wait...so the distributors/makers of Quarantine didnt give any cash or credit to REC? I always assume they bought the rights...did they just remake the film without permission and hope for the best?

^^ i think they had permission

but back to Paranormal Activity, i think the numbers speak for itself

I actually plan on seeing it again. With the GF this time.

The numbers speak for themselves??? Really????

Britney Spears is the best musical artist of our generation.

im talking about how the marketing was just superb

edit my double to say

The marketing for the film was great...they managed to get legions of people to froth at the mouth waiting to see this piece of garbage.

the footage of the theater reactions from both trailer and tv spots helped out bit time imo

Can someone explain to me why this movie was supposed to get a nationwide release on Friday but it's not at my theater?
