Paranormal Activity

Now maybe this could be a reason why I wasn't blown away by Paranormal Activity. I'm sure that plenty of urban people could be scared crapless from random sounds in their house considering how they'd have to watch out for burglars and intruders, etc.

I just got back from seeing it, and all I could think throughout the movie was that since I live in an apartment, any sounds I hear like that in the middle of the night are just my neighbors heading for the bathroom.

Honestly, it sounded like the ghost was doing its laundry for half the movie.

I wasn't blown away by it. It definitely has some freaky moments, but it was pretty predictable. I kinda saw the ending coming from a mile away.

My theater was maybe a 3rd full. I heard some girls coming out of the show before ours very freaked out by it (one said she was still shaking), but my crowd didn't seem overly scared by it.

yea i got the email too. i knew it would hit the 1 million mark

hopefully its at my local theater by next week

Nobody cares about The Stepfather...except for 13 year olds who want to try and get laid in the movie theater....

Wow, $7.1 million this weekend from just 160 theaters (and just a $15,000 budget). That's impressive.

I just want to see Dylan Walsh play the creepy stepdad. You just know he's going to be eyeballing Amber Heard.

What a mistake...

This film should have been released this weekend. The ONLY wide release this weekend was Couples Retreat, and though it had a solid debut, there is NO WAY that people would have chosen that over Paranormal Activity (or any other even remotely interesting new release)

Instead, they choose to release it closer to Halloween where there's several films, even two horror movies, to compete with.

I'll watch it opening night, but I think it'll be lame.

Where The Wild Things Are is potentially the biggest movie coming out next week.

I forgot about that movie though I've seen commercials for it everywhere. I want to see it.

This film has a good chance at being #1 whenever the wide release is. Like 7.1 million from 160 theaters is....:wow:

Like I said before, I'm looking forward to this film.

I heard that this film was garbage:(

I read a review on another site, with spoilers, and they said that it has corny dialogue, a contrived plot, and the ending sucks:(

i got a question for those who have seen this. Is this movie on the level of boring like the blair witch or fast paced like cloverfield? i talked to someone at a football game yesterday and she said it was boring and alot of the time you are just waiting for the scares to come.

I thought the worst part of the ending [BLACKOUT]was that part of it was in the trailer.[/BLACKOUT] I totally knew it was coming.

The characters were far less annoying the Blair Witch Project cast, but the boyfriend was just a moron and it was blatantly obvious they were just provoking it by continuing to film it, so why on earth did they keep the camera on?

And it took way too long to get to the scary stuff. The buildup just took forever and it became far too predictable.

It's a really scary concept, but the pacing was way off and it wasn't really anything we haven't seen before.

A mistake?

It opened at Number 5 with a limited release. This movie could accomplish something I've wanted to happen for three LONG years...

This movie could kill SAW...

High School Musical 3 beat out Saw IV's opening weekend last year. I still find that hilarious.

And I agree, the release for Paranormal Activity is no mistake. It cost less than $15,000 to make and it's already made $8 million at the box office. They could pull it from theaters and it would probably still be the most profitable movie of the year.

It's going to have the inevitable backlash that it was overhyped - people on another forum are ready were completely underwhelmed and even started a thread telling people not to bother. But it's already a hit.

Same thing happen with Trick R Treat. Its bound to happen with every movie that gets shelved for awhile and only a few see it and call it the best or scariest movie ever and then it gets a wide release and people bash it and call it over hyped.
