Saw it today, good stuff. Havent been scared like that in the theatres in years, maybe ever.

I thought it was okay, but I really didn't think it was the scariest horror movie ever. It was way overhyped. Though the final scene did creep me out a bit.

Ohh do tell. What happened in the final scene?

im going to see it on Sat and Where the Wild Things Are on Sun
cant wait :D

damn so that guy was right, the trailer did give a lot away :([BLACKOUT] guy flying toward camera, and i think the scene with freaky looking girlfriend looked possessed[/BLACKOUT]

I posted a thingy in the "last movie watched" thread but I'll restate the gist of it here.

Paranormal Activity might have been sort of interesting if they had actually, y'know, made a movie. What we've got here are parlor tricks scaring the bejeesus out of two dopey white people. And the whole "found footage/home movie" conceit can only go so far when the overall quality of the film is inexcusably bad. Especially the acting. Some of the stuff was kind of fun, in a Disney ride sort of way, and it might have been even more fun in theaters. But if we must evaluate Paranormal Activity as a movie it's pretty terrible. Luckily, it's not really a movie. Just a Disney attraction with salty language.

Definitely. Didnt see that coming at all.

I did...because part of it was in the trailer. :csad:

Although when [BLACKOUT]Katie walked into the room afterwards she reminded me of that kid from The Ring, which added to the creepy factor[/BLACKOUT].

Yeah, thats what I thought while seeing it.

Also, I didnt catch too much of the trailers or tv spots. So thats good on my part. Glad I avoided that.

I'd only seen the one trailer - but a lot of the scares were in the trailer.

The movie was still creepy as hell though.

I thought all of the little scares were definitely creepy. How creeped out would you be if you watched a tape of the previous night and saw
your girlfriend standing over you, staring at you for hours on end, or the Ouiji board bursting into flame
all the while knowing that you couldnt get away from the thing causing it all?

...and a chick with a nice rack. :awesome:

The
stand and staring for hours
was effective and creepy. Ouija board not so much.

But y'know what I would do if I were him? Leave her ass. She's hot, but when it's clear that she is basically destined to be possessed by hellspawn I would probably peace out.

I was just describing that to people and it scared them off seeing the movie.

Micah was a moron, though. "I'm going to take care of this!" Yeah, great job on that.
Video tape everything, spread your powder around....but dont go to a priest or the demonologist like the psychic ordered.
I wanted to strangle that guy. The girl was the smart one, even if she didnt have the courage to call an expert herself.

At one point, I remember thinking....you do that, you deserve everything you get. He was truly a moron.

I love the part when

the psychic came back, spent 10 seconds in the house like 'oh hell no!' and ran back out.

That is when you know you are screwed. :wow:

lol that's funny and pretty scary at the same time

And that's part of why I didn't like the movie. He wasn't just idiotic, he was implausibly idiotic.

yikes, but i mean it has to be the writers fault right? or was it his acting?

It was the writer, or maybe even lack thereof. So much of the movie felt muddled and slapdash that I question just how much thought went into the film. A good script can be tightly written, but seem natural and plausible. At some point during the production I get the feeling that they just started making stuff up.

He was a bad actor too, though. The girl tried her damnedest, but she was pretty bad as well.

Well it was made by a video game designer who had no previous film experience, which is pretty impressive considering how despite the flaws in the story, the movie is still scaring the pants off of so many people.

And I didn't think they were bad actors - they were far more tolerable than the Blair Witch crew. Micah was just a moron, but I didn't blame that on his acting.
