I really don't think they'll be any different. It's not like the Thursday comedy block is really Must See TV anymore... :o

I guess it's a smart move to put an established show instead of a new show that'd just be a sacrificial lamb.

catching up on the last few episodes and this joke stood out to me

Ron: "The only thing I hate worse than lying is skim milk and thats just water lying about being milk" :awesome:

Yikes. Ratings won't be nice for it there.

They've been declining since season two, into the toilet. It just has the highest demo of all the NBC comedies that were still around and the production company is Universal. NBC could've cancelled the show, the ratings were low enough. Adding 22 episodes to the existing 90 will only fetch Comcast more syndication money.

It was for me with The Office, 30 Rock, Parks and Community. That, along with the old lineup of Office, 30 Rock, Scrubs and My Name is Earl are possibly the two best prime time lineups ever.

Yeah, they had good stuff (doesn't really seem to be the case next season, though), but the title "Must See TV" does tend to imply that people might actually show up to see it. :o

How about, "Why aren't you idiots watching this awesome s**t!?!" TV?

If they announce that it'll be the last season for the folks in Pawnee, I don't think the timeslot matters.

CBS made some *****y little remarks at their upfronts presentation about how the viewership difference between Parks and Rec and The Big Bang Theory would itself be a top 10 show. This twitter response pretty much nails it...
I wonder if he realizes that if Ron Swanson would just take a **** in the whole episode it would still be funnier that BBT
:o:up:

Yes, and 2 Broke Girls is also a top ten show. That makes me ashamed of humanity.

Hopefully Parks and Rec will have as excellent series finale as The Office.

Oh lawd... :lmao:

Given how much of The Office's final season was focused on it, does anyone else kind of hope that Parks and Rec doesn't dwell too much on the documentary aspect of the show, whenever it reaches the finish line? Not that I thought it was bad, but I just don't really need to see it again, at least not if it's played the same way.

It's funny i was thinking about the same thing earlier. I agree I dont wanna see Parks and Rec focus too much on the documentary. Same thing with Modern Family

They arent shooting documentaries on Parks or Modern Family. The talking-heads are now just part of the genre of sitcoms.

They have never mentioned documentaries or camera crews nor has anyone ever reacted to the cameras. Even in the Office's later seasons when they would go somewhere new there would be people reacting to the cameras

That's quite the load of BS you just laid on us there. :o

Show me ONE mention of cameras or a docu crew in either of those shows!!!

I don't know about mentions, but I'm pretty sure there have been visual cues, outside of the talking heads, that support the idea that there is a documentary crew in play. I think Ben's probably given the camera a "WTF is with these people?" glare a few times.

This comes to mind (the last couple seconds)

But thats still just part of the cinema verite style

I can't really think of any instances where they've really acknowledged anybody behind the camera too overtly or have they ever mentioned mics or being in a documentary. I am not too leery of the idea because everybody thought this was just an Office clone in the first place and have been proven wrong there. If they incorporated it into the story I have no doubt they'd pull it off in an awesome way and totally different than the office did

Keep in mind, what we are seeing, from an in-universe perspective, is partially edited footage of this fictional documentary. So most likely the in-universe documentary director(s) would choose to edit out most of the footage of the subjects acknowledging the camera (documentary makers hate that) outside of their close-up interviews.
