Parks and Recreation - Part 1

July has just sucked for the most part. Bad news after bad news.

TOLDJA! is now saying Lowe has a deal with NBC to develop or find him a show.

Could be them getting a head start on new projects as they don't see the series getting a seventh season. Shame to see them go but excited for the new characters they bring in. Love to see Bryan Cranston join the cast though that probably won't happen since the show is on the bubble.

If the show ends this season I'd be find with that. I mean I'd want more but 6 (or 5 since season 1 is pretty meh) is a good run for a TV show

But i dont get why this show isnt more popular in the ratings. The humor isnt that hard to get or understand

Yeah, but it's also not as softball as the CBS humor that gets viewers in droves.

If Leslie is in the market for a new best friend....

Just saying. :o

Also, from IGN...
UPDATE: Parks and Recreation co-creator Michael Schur has released the following statement:

The news about Rob and Rashida is true — they will be leaving the show after the 13th episode of the upcoming season six. We’ve been working on their storyline (on and off) for four seasons now, and heading into this year, with the two of them contemplating parenthood, it felt like a natural time to move them into the next phase.

We absolutely love both Rashida and Rob, and will be sad to see them go. Rashida was one of the very first people we knew we wanted in the cast, and as important as Ann is to Leslie (and vice-versa), she’ll certainly never be far from Pawnee. Rob we initially thought we could only have for six or eight episodes, and we couldn’t be happier that he will have stuck around for 75.

They are wonderful, funny, committed actors, they’ve been a huge part of the Parks and Rec family, and we think we have a great Pawnee send-off in the works for them.

That sucks. This show has such a fantastic, tight knit ensemble that lose anyone is a big loss, let alone two.

I just hope they don't try to shoe-horn in almost identical new characters like alot of shows (mostly comedies) have done poorly in the past (Eric/Kelso hybrid on That 70s Show after Grace and Kutcher left, turning Andy into Michael 2.0 on The Office after Carell's departure, multiple ditzy blondes on Three's Company, the list goes on).

There's only two sitcoms that have replaced characters well: Cheers and MASH. Dumb young guy Woody replacing dumb old guy Coach, neurotic mess Rebecca replacing buttoned-up Diane, highly competent ***hole Winchester replacing highly incompetent fool Frank Burns, etc.

I actually liked Cheers better with Rebecca and Woody.

Or on Parks and Rec when they got rid of that total *****e Mark and brought in two totally better and funnier characters. Yea

The group dynamic won't be the same once they're gone. This is kinda that "Before" and "After" moment here.

Eh, I think the show could've gone relatively smoothly with Chris exiting. Ann's going to be the real hurdle. What on earth is Leslie going to do without Ann?

Ben is a replacement character much more so than Chris. Ben is literally everything they were going for with Mark, but infinitely more likable.

Didn't that happen in season three?

Hopefully they set up Annes replacement during the first 13 episodes before she leaves.

oh that's not true. For example A Different World was created to center around Lisa Bonet but she only lasted one season and it got much better once it brought in new characters for a revamp. The replacement of Valerie Harper with Sandy Duncan on Valerie's Family/ The Hogan Family is another example of a successful one. The Night Court replacements were also good as was the handling of Steve with Jefferson on Married with Children

And Threes Company only had one ditzy blonde, Cindy, whom only lasted one season before being phased out in her second. The 2nd replacement, Terri, was pretty solid and one of the better things about the final seasons. And of course there was Mr. Furly who successfully replaced the Ropers when they left for their spinoff

Was Mark the city planner? I liked his character, very down to earth and realistic given his job.

What about Family Matters pre-Urkel. Hahaha wow talk about hard to watch

Getting rid of Mark wasn't that big a deal though. He was the straight man (too straight as a matter of fact) and by that point the show found its footing. He was expendable and the show thrived without him.

Imagine if it turns out that Anne and Chris have moved to Eagleton.

I'm glad Lowe is leaving because he is annoying and unfunny, but I don't want Rashida to go :csad:
did they decided to leave or were they fired?
I don't get this talk about a replacement, the show has 8 other characters, they will just give the them more screen time after Ann and Chris leave and that's it.

This was the best thing Lowe has done since West Wing, let alone since... St. Elmo's Fire.
