On the DVD Commentary, it is revealed that the body on Muir Island was a "P. Xavier". One of the writers noted that this is an original twin brother, written for the scene, who was born braindead (due to Prof X's amount of power). This brother can apparently walk.

You're a little late to the party. Everyone else here has known this for about a year! :hyper:

What you don't know is that Patrick Stewart said he was quitting Hollywood to come back to England and return to stage work. At least that's what he told a showbiz friend of mine. So it's unlikely Xavier would return in X4...and it could be a bit cheap to have him back so quickly. Let's leave him in seclusion on Muir Island.

I have several. :woot:

Anyone who works in a creative industry linked with any aspect of movie-making, right down to the journalists who are sent promo materials and attend press screenings, is likely to get some information that the general public don't get...

It was in the DVD commentary by Brett, Zak and Simon.

It was mentioned by the writers in interviews on another X-Men related site, and it's been discussed on here a lot, though not in any specific thread.

I never heard this news before because I don't usually watch the commentary so thank you javphonic. I find this news both interesting and lame. I would love to have Patrick back as the professor but it just seems ridiculous why did they even bother killing him at all then, I mean he's a powerfull telepath so I can deal with him going in someone else's body but to have a twin at the ready just feels kind of lame. Lets see X1 he was unconsious, X2 he was kept in a mind allusion, X3 they killed him, X4 is it even worth bringing him back? It would just cause them more problems trying to figure out how to keep him out of the action and story for yet another movie.

^I completely agree. Someone he now has a brain dead twin that pops out of nowhere...sure.

If Stewart is going back to England then hire Ben Kingsley and say he's not a twin, but just a bald man who was brain dead, that's better than the twin thing.

I don't like the brain-dead newborn explanation...

It doesn't make sense that a brain-dead newborn grows up. He’s dead afterall.

...and what is Professor Xavier keeping him around for anyway? Spare parts? That sounds a little unethical.

If Professor Xavier must come back, I hope the writers think of a better explanation. That is assuming Patrick Stewart even returns.

That is true, it'd be kind of wierd to keep around a braindead body or many years, but maybe he hoped one day he could revive his brother, maybe he doesn't want to let go of the last relative he has IDK it's still wierd though
