MMA STAR KING MO TO SIGN WITH BOTH TNA AND BELLATOR IN HISTORIC DEAL
by David Tees @ 8:37 AM on 5/10/2012

Former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Mohammed “King Mo” Lawal is expected to sign with both Bellator Fighting Championships and TNA Wrestling in the near future. King Mo is currently serving a nine month suspension from the NSAC and it dealing with health issues related to a previous knee surgery. One could safely assume that when he debuts with Bellator, he will remain a light heavyweight and compete in the light heavyweight tournament. The current and thus far only Bellator Light Heavyweight Champion is Christian M’ Pumbu, who won the inaugural tournament over a year ago.

As far as his potential TNA duties go, current rumors suggest that King Mo would compete in the squared circle when not competing in Bellator. Bellator usually runs two different twelve week “seasons” each year, which would leave King Mo plenty of time to capture TNA gold. Current TNA title holders include Bobby Roode (TNA World Champion), Austin Aries (TNA X Division Champion), Magnus & Samoa Joe (TNA Tag Team Champions), Devon (TNA TV Champion), Gail Kim (TNA Knockouts Champion) and Eric Young & ODB (TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champions). No word yet on when King Mo would debut in either promotion, which would be based on his health situation and the nine month suspension.

Nice signing by TNA. He's a big name in the MMA world.

*waits for MMA fans to bash King Mo for being involved in "pro wrestling."*

Seriously, screw Linda. She will get owned again and more of the company's time amd resources will be wasted.

I'm hoping her campaign doesn't make it past even the nomination stage this time, just to end it early so it doesn't impact WWE programming. 6 years of peace (or well-scripted chaos) after that.

Tampa resident and WWE superstar John Cena has filed for divorce from his high school sweetheart and wife of only 3 years, Liz Huberdeau, saying the marriage is “irretrevably broken.” The soon-to-be-ex-Mrs.Cena has armed herself with powerful Miami attorneyRaymond Rafool, best known for going head to head with Hulk Hogan in his nasty divorce battle against ex-wife Linda. In that case, Rafool allegedly took Hogan for 70% of his assets. Huberdeau hopes for something similar, but it’s not going to be easy. Cena, worth over $18 million, has a 2009 prenup that is said to include the ability to take back all gifts and presents.

That stipulation has forced the soon-to-be-ex to hire Rafool, who told us “Although it is indeed unfortunate that John Cena decided to divorce his high school sweetheart Liz Cena; particularly, after they have come so far in their lives and in his career together, Liz will and really has no choice but to pursue all of her rights and entitlements. Although Mr. Cena pushes a prenuptial agreement and that the parties have only been married for approximately 3 years, Liz Cena has always supported John Cena, even when no one else did, and stood behind him and pushed him forward to achieve their goals for the last 14 years. Sadly, divorce is not the way Liz thought her perfect love story would end.”

Another insider warns that this isn’t going to be pretty, saying “This is going to dwarf the Hogan divorce in nastiness.” Yikes

That explains his "personal issues" that have been rumored about.

It seems like every WWE wrestler lives in Tampa. I wonder if they're all neighbors?

I only thought it was to do with his Younger Brothers cancer scare.

That too.

As for King Mo signing with TNA, I haven't heard full on outrage from MMA fans yet.

Likely claiming he failed in MMA and so now he's joining wrestling!

With John Cena turning 35-years-old, the talk has been that Vince McMahon is already looking for his next top babyface.

Through out the years, Vince has always handpicked his top babyfaces. They include Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H and now John Cena.

Vince is now 66 years old, and still has a hand in virtually every aspect of the company. But it is expected that he will be delegating more responsibilities to Triple H and Stephanie as time goes on. Many have speculated that the next top baby face to carry the torch in WWE could be Vince's final handpicked face of WWE.

Um HHH a top baby face?,lol .Vince needs to look at FCW for the next top babyface.

Cena really is the new Hogan. Thankfully he doesn't have a daughter to slather with sunblock or a sex tape to horrify us all.

I fired his "personal issues" might have something to do with his marriage (as well as his brother's illness) since rumors of Cena messing around have gone back for years. But those are just rumors so you never know until some proof comes out. "Wrestler" and "married" always have trouble fitting together. Hopefully he and his soon to be ex wife can get through this in a better way than its looking to play out. Cena's more or less a good dude.

In his dreams maybe. Its not wrong per se but not exactly accurate either. They pushed H as the top star (as a heel) on Raw but of all the guys to be the face of the company HHH did the least carrying of it on his own. 2003-2005 had that burden of drawing spread out to more stars than any other time in WWE history.

.
Update from TMZ...

Liz' attorney tells us, Cena blindsided her with the divorce filing. They had been having issues -- and Cena even approached her recently with a pre-divorce financial settlement agreement -- but Liz refused to sign it, convinced the relationship would still work out.

I remember Cena pointing out his wife in the crowd after that Raw in boston before mania. I thought he could do better for sure. He probably gets anything he wants anyway.

"Divorce lawyer's right up the block,

But we're dancing 'cause Cleveland rocks ... "

Sucks to read. Only 3 years too. I hope it all works out.

And I agree with Kaleb. The next top babyface is in FCW. One of the potentials we talk about.

Sucks to hear about Cena's divorce. It's always sad to hear about those type of situations as they are terribly painful.

I'm very interested in the King Mo signing. I am an avid MMA follower so knowing who Mo is and what he is about makes this signing intriguing. I don't care for Mo as a personality, but he does have a charisma that could shine in wrestling if he is used right. He will no bring them a ton of attention from the casuals, since Mo really isn't a big star, but it's a nice signing.

Gail Kim is getting married today. Now I'll never have a shot :csad: :cwink:

The irony of Cena getting a divorce while Orton is in a (seemingly) stable marriage is not lost on me.

I'm surprised his wife is the one who doesn't want the divorce to move forward. That's terrible news though but in the wrestling business you wonder how these people stay married , especially a guy like Cena who is always working.

^ Even a guy like Taker, who's been described as upstanding has been married three times already. Marriage and the road just dont mix for the most part

Then you have marriages like Dwayne had that lasted through that period and then went into the divorce territory afterwards.

Did Cena mess around with Mickie James. I could have sworn I heard that.
