Pedro Pascal is Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic

Are you sure he will be like that? Sounds more like Doom.

Well, why shouldn't Krasinski be able to portray Reed that way? He's an actor!

I see Reed and Doom as very similar characters with the difference being Reed cares about and wants to help other people while Doom cares only about himself and his own power - which is basically the difference between heroes and villains as a general rule.

But caring about other people doesn’t mean he’s warm and friendly and easy to talk to.

He’s a bit arrogant and unconcerned with social niceties. He’s the smartest man alive, and he knows it. When his best friend does something without thinking, he doesn’t hesitate to call him a fool. He’s a military man and soldier. He’s a no nonsense kind of guy.

And for we simple, flawed, foolish people, that’s intimidating. He’s not a fun, funny guy to hang out with and joke around with over a beer.

Two characters I would compare him to are Jean Luc Picard and Don Draper.

How likely is it that he will be written and portrayed that way in the upcoming film?
Shouldn't Reed have some likeable qualities to him?

I'm now putting Liam Aiken out there as a possible younger candidate than Krasinski.
Perhaps it's best to have another one as well, around the same age.
"The suggestions come in pairs" :)

Since Logan Lerman doesn't want to get anywhere near CBMs these days (after losing Spider-Man two times), he's out.
Then I have no other way to go than suggesting Freddie Highmore as the second choice of those in the early 90s. Yeah, he's lacking some needed traits for this. But unless you can come up with a better one, Highmore will be the guy to join Aiken here!!!!

Tony Stark's portrayal in the MCU is vastly different to the comics version. And consequently so is Jim Rhodes's portrayal. Comic Stark was much more serious, more emotionally fragile, more of a womaniser and unable to control his alcoholic tendencies most of the time. MCU Stark was more wise cracking, fast talking and more monogamous.

I can see that they could change parts of Reed's personality to make him more relatable and charismatic. Not necessarily like MCU Stark, but maybe more like Captain Pike from Star Trek Strange New Worlds. In fact casting Anson Mount as Blackbolt is a missed opportunity because he would've been excellent as Reed and would've looked like a classic Kirby version.

He’s likable because he loves his family and will do anything for them.

He’s likable because he would and does sacrifice everything for humanity.

He doesn’t have to be charming, fun to be with, and socially skilled to be likable.

As I said in my previous post, Jean Luc Picard is a good example.

I’d be uncomfortable having dinner with him and he wouldn’t be a bundle of laughs, but he’s likable.

Should Batman or Wolverine be watered down to make them more likable? No. And neither should Reed Richards.

ironically his name originally came up with rumors of him as the Johnny to his real life sister Alexandra (as a Sue candidate) but, as I stated in (her casting thread) he seems too old for Johnny (or at least to her Sue)

but, since I've even heard Matthew Daddario as a Reed Fan-cast
(which I could almost understand from a physical/ appearance stand point)
an obviously to a different Sue...

but can't say I know enough about his acting to really endorse

it's just funny how theses rumors always seem to come full circle
(X was rumored to be up for a Marvel {possibly F4} role... so, they then get suggested for every role

weird to think of any of the characters to be interchangeable for any single actor (given that their such vastly different characters)

The actor is born 1987 and he looks more Reed than Johnny.
What if he actually could be one of the late 80s/early 90s suggestions for Mr Fantastic???

The Daddario brother and Liam Aiken.... (and unless someone is strongly against him, Freddie Highmore), it's not bad at all, it sounds like we're onto something here. :)

Is the Highmore guy trying to change his image? That will open up for unexpected roles.

Good for him, but I almost LOL'd looking at that picture.
I'm sure he could get buffed up with a Hollywood trainer though.

I still think it's gonna be Krasinski when the dust settles. This is interesting, but I think that appearance on Fallon or whatever it was when he mimed getting shot by a poison dart was the most compelling evidence so far

In case it isn't Krasinski. Can we come up with 1-2 actors close to his age that will suit the role?
Would you say Lukas Haas is too old?

When I suggested Claire Danes for Susan, I got some likes.
Wouldn't they match each other age-wise?

@ 2:08

Emily Blunt responds to the question will we see John as Reed again?
That end bit where she puts her finger up to her mouth to signal "be quiet", that makes it look like he could be Reed. Or it could mean he's going to be playing a variant again. Smart idea to go after Blunt to try to get a hint though.

agreed. Normally, she would be annoyed with Marvel related questions (she seemed a bit annoyed as soon as the interview said Marv-) but she ended the interview with a bit of cheekiness/playfulness.

She did look irritated when the interviewer brought up Marvel. But Blunt has never seemed to take the superhero world seriously, so she seems like the perfect candidate to try and catch off guard to get her to spill something. I'm not getting a vibe that she's Sue though. If Krasinski is Reed, that is going to be so cool, especially since he's a fan. Coolest thing since RDJ as Tony Stark.

not hating the Tom Ellis(43) rumor/fan-cast (I don't believe the rumor, especially not with the rumored cast surrounding him) but he's still an interesting fan-cast none the less (for someone of that age range)

Brendan Hines(45)

I Remember, Bill Hader(44), being a fan-cast (again for someone in that age range)

Jake Johnson (44)

Matt Bomer (45)

tho, I was never personally in the Krasinski camp myself, I'd imagine the main reason to not go with him would be to go younger with the cast (which don't get me wrong I wouldn't want to go much younger IMO) but, if that is the direction they go in

I'm not sure that age range is where we should being looking for other options

some late 30's suggestions I've made in the past...
James Wolk (37)
John David Washington (38)
Tom Payne (39)
Kyle Soller (39)

but they might go even younger then that

What an impressive list of actors. Thank you!!!!!

I would like to include a name actor: Joseph Gordon-Levitt

But just in case Krasinski doesn't play Reed, then my list of actors who could play Reed:

- Penn Badgley
- Joseph Gordon Levitt
- Brandon Routh
- Jamie Dornan
- Matt Bomer

Gordon-Levitt is the strongest choice on the list. Not necessarily the most suitable one for Reed if we count all actors out there, but still....
He's a name actor which is a good thing.
(Routh is more Supes)

Btw Tg11, weren't you the one who suggested Colin Ford for Storm?
