Pedro Pascal is Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic

But what if he wants to play Reed and not Doom?

But what if he wants to play Reed and not Doom?
I mean that doesn’t change anything at all. If in Suicide Squad, Viola Davis wanted to play Rick Flag instead of Amanda Waller, it wouldn’t have made it good casting. She still would’ve been better as Waller. A good actor =/= good casting.

Look at Amy Adams as Lois. Good actor, bad casting.

Driver should play Silver Surfer or Doom. Him as Reed is just so bad.

Adam Driver shouldn't be either Richards OR Doom...he is a terrible choice for both...in terms of both look and just not how I envision either to look.....keep him away from this...besides I thought another of the 10,000 rumors said Reed and Sue had already been cast...Lord, I am OVER the casting, the rumors, and everything involving the 4 and Doom....enough is enough...Feige really needs to appeal to the fans more than ever, cause with all of the drama unfolding with casting, efx issues, bad box office for some projects, rumors of burn out, and more, they need to give some good will now more than ever....

Please be patient until SDCC. If we hear nothing after that we riot. And by riot i mean complain here
The only way we probably won't get a cast announcement at SDCC is if the likely WGA strike is followed by an SAG strike. How awkward would it be if they were to announce four actors who are out front picketing? Personally, I'd find it awkwardly hilarious.

If that becomes a factor, they’ll still anounce the cast around that time. Then it will just be a matter of do they present a panel at SDCC, or is it a oress release?

A panel might be nice, but I just want to know the cast and we’ll know it one way or another by July.

Not sure how I feel about Driver as Reed, but I wouldn't hate it.

Adam Driver as Reed Richards? I feel very mixed on that. If John Krasinski can't be Reed Richards, Driver isn't the best casting choice, but he isn't the worst. He is talented and I like him in certain roles, however, I just can't picture him as Reed Richards.

I'm just tired of all the casting rumors. Hopefully we will get the full cast announced by the summer.

just a tad bit of cynicism i do detect

Driver is great in small roles about realistic problems amongst realistic people, but he has no stage presence and doesn’t project a larger-than-life gravitas needed for the smartest man in the universe.

When he took off the helmet and stopped the voice modulator in Star Wars, it was like: “Wait, the heir to Darth Vader is a whiney emo loser?!?!”

Worst, most damaging casting of any major franchise in my opinion…

… and yes, I’m considering Hayden Christensen in that statement - close, but not as bad.

Couldn't disagree more. Kylo was a whiny emo loser cause he was written that way and that's what he was supposed to be playing. But even there, he committed to that role. Hayden was cringe inducingly bad

Fair enough.

If you can point me to a video clip in which he plays a character roughly similar to Reed, I’ll keep an open mind.

I’ve never seen it, but I also haven’t seen all his films.

I dont think he's had to play a guy like Reed yet. But that doesn't mean he can't do it. Man has been nominated for 2 Academy Awards, which sure doesn't instantly mean he can play a guy like Reed, but it isn't like Reed is a more complex role than he has portrayed in the past by that same token. I can go to the cliche well of Ledger was no one's first choice for the Joker, but while cliche, it's also true

I watched some clips of 65.

They didn’t completely sell me but combined with your strong support, I’m at least willing to give him a chance if he ends up being it.

I haven't seen 65 yet myself. I pick my non Marvel movie spots carefully cause getting a babysitter isn't always easy and I opted to see Creed III in March instead

Driver is a really good actor. I haven't seen 65 yet but I doubt it's the best showcase. He might not be classic, obvious Reed, but he can play a Reed with an X-factor well IMO. As long as we still recognise the traits we want in our Reed, I think it might be what F4 and the MCU needs.

I used to see every Marvel movie in the theater weekend 1, but COVID broke me of that habit.

I saw MOM because if the Reed cameo, but that’s about it. I was planning to see Ant Man, but the reviews made me pause, and now I’ll wait for it on Disney +.

I’d like to get back into it, but they’re just not selling me. Maybe Guardians.

They've lost momentum with the pandemic, some mixed reception and no MCU-wide unifying films to pay things off and link a whole bunch of characters together for ages. We had 4 in 4 years including Civil War and 3 Avengers films and it will be minimum 6 years (or more if delayed) now between Endgame and the next one. They could have had a smaller scale Young or New Avengers by now to get things going again rather than introduce so many characters and do nothing more with them for a while, as well as sitting on sequels to some others for too long. Hopefully F4 is a big part of the resurgence.

I’m obviously out if touch with the kids these days, but one simple concept I think about is: Who used to be on the posters hanging in my friends rooms? Who was on the lunchboxes, T-shirts etc.?

Those are the characters people want to see.

Spider-Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Cyclops. Thing, Dr. Strange, Wolverine, Daredevil, Dr. Doom, Human Torch…

Sure, you can mix in some newer characters and related characters, but those A-listers are what keep everything going and excite audiences.

You can’t stray too far from the big characters and just expect people to stay interested.

The great thing is, with the FF and X-Men they’ve got a lot of untapped A-listers and B-listers.

If they do it right (and that’s a big if) Marvel’s best days could be ahead.

Agreed. This feels like the interim, transitional period - it's just going on too long without any MCU big guns to ignite it all. Most of the characters on your list are either still usable or still to come. We've lost some huge ones in Cap and Stark, also BW (Scarlett probably one of the most famous actors in the MCU) and tragically Boseman's BP who would have been a big part of driving the future, but otherwise there are still tons of characters they have available or on the bench to throw together. The future can still be huge if they start sorting everything out now.

Still don't understand why they just didn't go with John K.

His cameo was so pointless.

Same. I get Kevin Feige wanted to give Marvel fans a small taste of John Krasinski as Reed Richards, however, why not just try to have him play the role moving forward? So thank you to Kevin Feige for giving us those 5 minutes but I think it’s fair to say a majority would like much more.

I can be fine if Marvel does cast another actor as Richards but if I got to pick between John Krasinski or Adam Driver, I’m going with Krasinski.
