Pedro Pascal is Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic

Honestly I would be confused if they hired him in the first place for that role, only not to play the part in Marvel Studios' 4. At least with Sir Patrick Stewart, we could use the variant/multiverse eXcuse or that it was a homage to the previous movies. Same with the Black Bolt from the ABC show.

Also, I don't want Adam Driver as Reed. He doesn't look the part at all.

It feels like a missed opportunity without John Krasinski, as far as I see it. He does feel like that 'Hell yes!' type of casting, much like Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark or Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne or Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk. A natural choice. Not only does Krasinski look like Reed Richards, but he also has the intensity, charisma and commanding presence Reed Richards needs. If Kevin Feige and the casting folks at Marvel Studios offered him the role moving forward, but he declined, I could accept that, as I'm sure most would. It sounds like they never talked to him about it, and my gut feeling tells me Krasinski would get on board if an offer were there. Just a 5-minute cameo as a different version of Richards. That's it. Thank you to Kevin Feige for that as I loved it, though it made me optimistic about his possible casting for the future.

If Adam Driver is indeed Reed Richards moving forward, I will get on board with the casting, however, it doesn't excite me. It doesn't pump me up. Adam Driver as Reed Richards makes me think, 'Oh. Sure. He is a fine choice.' Driver is a great actor who has continued to showcase his talents on the big screen. It's just hard to picture him leading the Fantastic Four. Ioan Gruffudd looked like Reed Richards but I never bought him as a leading man nor that he could carry a franchise on his shoulders. Miles Teller was way too young and felt like a miscast in that poor 2015 movie. I see this new casting of Reed Richards as very critical as the character may be a big presence and leader for the next phase of Marvel stories that we will get, much like how Tony Stark and Steve Rogers were the defacto leaders of phases 1-3.

If the rumors of Driver as Reed prove true, I will look forward to Marvel Studios showing that he was the absolute right man for this role. I just wish the idea of Adam Driver as Reed Richards would get me excited.

if there is anything to the rumor, rather I personally (or anyone else) see's it... "they" obviously see something in him that fits "their" version of how they want this Reed to be represented... "they" may have a very different idea of how the character is represented, then me
(I'm not sure that means I'll like that version or not yet, til I see it)

but, he'll play the role the way they want him to play it, well enough

maybe, JK an other Fan-cast(s) we all want to see, don't fit whatever their idea for the character is

so, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, for the time being

I’m going to wait until we have something official, and I need to think of how the whole cast will work together. And I think the way the characters relate to one another may be more important than the individuals.

For example, imagine Seth Rogan will be Ben. In that case, who would be a better Reed, Krasinski or Driver?

I have to go with Driver. I think Rogan and Krasinski would be great friends and have a lot of fun and chemistry and probably have the whole cast cracking up.

Sounds great, right? Not really. Ben and Reed are a bit of an “Odd Couple”. They’re very different people and we wouldn’t typically imagine the Jock and the Brain hanging out together, but they ended up as roommates and something clicked despite their differences.

I think Driver could play better as a stiff aloof character off of Rogan’s Ben than Krasinski could. Krasinski and Rogan would be more of a natural fit, and while they’d be great at playing friends, they wouldn’t be the right type of friends for the roles.

So that’s a long-winded way of saying we won’t really know who works or doesn’t until we can evaluate the whole cast as a unit.

Segel and Krasinski are actually real life friends, (which, yes, suggest they might have that good chemistry) but, also would both bring that similar energy/vibe, instead of rounding out that group dynamic with different personality's

Before they were cast, I would argue that RDJ and Chris Evans have a similar energy, vibe, and personality- so they would not be able to contrast each other. But thats why its called acting. Contrary to out perceptions, an actor is not who they are in real life. They are faking/pretending to be something they are not most of the time (unless it is a method actor lol). An actor should be able to become the role, to the point where you no longer see the actor but the character they are portraying. See Johnny Depp, Bryan Cranston, Colin Farrell…

I used to see every Marvel movie in the theater weekend 1, but COVID broke me of that habit.

I saw MOM because if the Reed cameo, but that’s about it. I was planning to see Ant Man, but the reviews made me pause, and now I’ll wait for it on Disney +.

I’d like to get back into it, but they’re just not selling me. Maybe Guardians.

I think we all have to accept that Krasinski probably isn't going to be the main Reed Richards, as much as many of us would like to see that happen. I hope I'm wrong - I want to see John Krasinski play this role. If it is indeed Adam Driver, I will hope he was cast because the filmmakers really believe he is best suited for what they want to do with the character. I still can't see Driver in the role, however, I am fine to see what Marvel will do. Who knows what will happen.

On the plus side given the cameo in MoM, it’s not like they wouldn’t have given Krasinski due consideration if he was actually up for doing the role full time. My guess is either they really had Driver in mind for this interpretation of Reed or Krasinki wasn’t up for committing to a multi-film contract (but happy to appear in a cameo).
