For me Eva Green is the finest actress of her generation.

I actually think the Frankenstein monster is fascinating on the show and am really digging how they are slowly dragging out the "Dracula" storyline with Mina. I can't wait to see what they do with Van Helsing (I hope he's more than just a cameo).

With that said, yes Eva Green as Vanessa is really, really entertaining. And this past episode really deepened the show in a more profound way by giving some real intrigue into Sir Malcolm and Vanessa's characters who previously have been more archetypes. And Green is so good that she is obviously the heart of the show while still being able to provide the greatest freak out yet (when her mother finds her).

But still, this show has a lot going for it, and only now does it feel like it is starting to really explore its potential.

That whole sequence of Ives at the asylum was spectacular and my favorite. It was painful to watch but boy did Green sell those scenes.

Yeah, it's not really Malcolm. I think the demon (Amun-Ra? Dracula?) used Malcolm's image because, in a way, Ives seeing him with her mom was what made her vulnerable to the impure thoughts and the possession.

Did the demon do anything to Ives' mom or did she literally die from the shock of seeing Ives like that in the bed? That part was unintentionally funny to me. She fainted and the next thing we see is her funeral. :funny:

This series is playing fast and loose with Victorian literature "types" and characters. But this one feels almost specific. Vanessa has replaced Lucy Westenra as Mina's best friend. In the book, Dracula, Lucy's mother tries to protect her from trouble by staying up all night until Dracula takes the form of a wolf beast and enters Lucy's bedroom. The sight of this creature coming for her daughter is so horrifying that she dies of a heart attack on sight and Lucy is left to be fed upon by Dracula.

I think it really did work in that kind of horror in a more shocking sense for today's television audiences. I was freaked out. Really creepy episode.

Don't forget Jonathan Harker! I've been looking forward to seeing him since his name was first mentioned.

And yeah, Eva Green has been superb. She's been my favorite character since the first episode.

Agreed in more ways than one. ;)

"You were never happier than that weekend. On the following morning, you would be married. One more night as Miss Mina Murray before you became Mrs. Charles Branson. You didn’t seem to mind this loss of self. Perhaps, I minded it for you.”

Wow! This latest episode was intense and sets up a crazy final two episodes...

Pity it's almost over so soon, but thankfully it's been renewed for season 2.

Not happy to only have two left.:( I am perplexed at how....unfazed .... Ethan is about...you know. I mean he didn't wake up and ask himself, wtf was I doing with Dorian? I was expecting something and there was nothing.

Perhaps Ethan just accepts his sexual nature, and doesn't need to ask about it. Or he doesn't remember it. Who knows.

Great episode. Shame there's two episodes left, but at least it got renewed for a season 2 so there's that.

So, who's next on Dorian's F**k List? I hope it's Victor! :awesome:

That episode was fantastic. I totally did not see the Creature [blackout]snuffing Van Helsing(!)[/blackout] but it was so awesome that it happened anyway. Plus, it makes sense to a degree since the main cast is like their own makeshift vampire hunters. Still, David Warner is awesome in the role. His spill about "are you sure now...you've never heard of VAMPIRES before," to explain it to the audience was hilarious, as was the reveal of what he did to his wife.

And I feel like this week, we finally got to see the vampires in action in a really detailed way, as they were more just tossed in for audience appeal in the pilot. My only complaint is that they all looked exactly they same and died too quickly. But that scene on the Plague Ship was every bit as intense as what Stoker imagined on his vampire hunts in the books and the big guy, if that is Dracula, was awesome.

And the ending? Well, things are about to get very weird next week.

Superb episode. It just flew by. I was glad to see the return of vampire-hunting.

I veer back and forth between pitying Caliban because he has such a crappy and life and resenting him because he keeps killing appealing characters.

I keep hoping Danny Sapani is going to hulk out and murder some fools like he did in Misfits. At least he got to get his stab on this episode.

The brides of Dracula went down pretty easy.

Its great acting and writing that makes you pity Caliban and loathe him as well.

John Logan has a beautiful way with words.

I want Disney hurry up and make another Tron movie so David Warner can be in it.

Does anyone else want Dorian Grey to join Sir Malcolm's Vampire hunter posse?
I think the weirdness will engage Dorian and having a immortal on their side is a bonus I imagine.

Are we going to find out what happened to Mina's husband Jonathan Harker?

They should just call this the Murray and Ives Supernatural Hour.

And yeah "Eva F**king Green People"!

"Green is pulling some sort of Cate Blanchett meets Meryl Streep inspired magic and simply blowing her co-stars off the screen."

I think this French woman who speaks with a British accent is stealing my heart! And she has twin sister!!??

She really deserves Emmy Awards contention just for that Closer Than Sisters episode alone.:up::hrt:

She has a non-identical twin sister name Joy... lol.

And Eva freaking Green rocks! She's so awesome! :hrt:

Anyone else disappointed by the potrayal of Dracula? He's just this big, hidious brute.

In the books and in other adaptions he's a handsome young looking man.
