Pepper is probably on the west coast running stark international
I feel she almost needs a cameo. Stark said he was done with being Iron Man in IM3, but now he's back to it again. It seems like there should be a scene between Tony and Pepper to address this and her reservations about it.
No. He said no such thing. The opposite in fact.
"I am Iron Man" was the very last thing he said before the credits rolled.
He said "I AM Iron man". He didn't say "I WAS Iron man". Tony more than likely had intentions to build another suit. I am Iron man..the point was that he is Iron man and always will be Iron man. With or without the armor..Iron man is a part of him, a part of his psyche..he is Iron man. That was the point of it. There's always going to be a point for Iron man I think.
Quick scene where their on the phone
With Rescue armor featured behind her.
But it's one thing to admit this reality to himself (or to Banner during a couch session) and another thing to indicate something else to Pepper. And that's what I'm saying could easily allow for a scene addressing this in AOU, because she could have quite reasonably thought from his actions that he was having a new start and leaving his hero days behind him. All it takes is a small scene with Pepper saying "I thought you weren't doing this anymore" or "I knew it. You just couldn't leave it alone."
(same for Jane Foster although there's that awful rumour that the movie will start with her being seperated from Thor).
Whatever your views on Jane and Thor, their relationship has been an important part of two solo Thor movies. To just have them seperated without sufficient explanation isn't a great idea - at least invest some time into this development.
Killing Pepper just to cause Tony pain is an equally bad idea.
First of all there is nothing sexist or misogynistic about killing off someone's love interest. It's not even something that happens in overabundance in film.
People lose loved ones in real life and women are not a special exception. If it helps the story and helps the contracting issues of the actors/actresses involved DO IT, forget all this pandering crap. Who exactly is getting hurt if someones love interest dies in a movie? Jesus.
Tony blew up his suits in IM3 as a gesture to Pepper saying he is no longer going to be Iron Man and now he's Iron Man again and worse than that, he's still tinkering and creates Ultron and puts the world in jeopardy and not just himself this time. I'd say if Paltrow doesn't want to do this anymore, have Pepper break up with Tony for not sticking to his word about no longer being Iron Man and then have her get with Happy just like in the comics and Tony can return back to his single life and everyone's happy. Pepper doesn't die so the oversensitive feminists groups can't complain, Paltrow has an exit point, and Happy's story gets concluded and the comic fans get single Tony back. Everyones happy no pun intended.
