Iron Man 3 Pepper Potts as Rescue

Well, I doubt RDJ and Gwyneth (especially) are going to make many more IM movies. Once the arch-nemesis (Mandarin) is out of the way, there is little point to more Iron Man movies other than being thinly-veiled Avengers puffers (and wasn't IM2 already enough embarrassment over this type of stuff?). Pepper's arc is pretty much complete after IM3. OK, she could always return to being the CEO of Stark Industries (and probably will), but other than that, there's very little or even nothing for Pepper/Gwyneth to do after IM3.

The suit concern is somewhat overblown anyway. I mean, Rhodey wasn't and possibly isn't going to get involved w/ the Avengers even though he already had a suit and was able to use it. Even if Pepper retains the suit, you can use similar scriptwriting handwaves as with Rhodey, not a problem.

Wow so 50years of comics and stories can be summed up in 3 films and one group outing.
What a good fan you must be .. or just another film fan with no interest in the history this character has had and is still continuing.

I concur. Not because I dislike Gwyneth Paltrow, but because I hate Rescue.

Here's the problem as I see it, for any future films highlighting Iron Man, the audience can have an expectation of Pepper suiting up again. Pepper could now be considered a super hero in her own right and, coming from a completely biased perspective against the idea of RESCUE, that's not a film I want to see.

I just hate film Pepper she is terrible in ever way and, it's made no better thanks to having the coldest/dullest woman on the planet playing her.

As I've heard this will be her last, and I'm glad it is, when they re-cast her she should be a supporting character no more a love interest.

i love movie Pepper. the movies wouldn't be the same without her.

Chances are they would be better, or just better if they stuck with her as she is in the comics and not force a love story, as for some reason the general audience need one to relate or some bs reason.

Photo is fake. It's Paltrow's head manipped on RDJ's head during "Iron Man 2" skydive scene

It's almost as if a fan manipulated the images to make their own version of Pepper in a suit to show his like-minded companions what it might look like. Strange... I mean, if people did silly things like that, there'd be entire threads dedicated to it, like a fan-art or manip thread.

(Pretty sure he wasn't trying to pass it as real, dude. Lighten up.)

So should we assume those shots in the first trailer of IM falling with the destroyed house into and under the ocean is Pepper and not Tony in the suit?

No. [BLACKOUT]There is a description of the footage that was shown to magazine and blog writers that makes it clear that it's Tony in the suit. Tony sent the suit to Pepper and told her to get Maya out of the mansion. Once the two women were safe, he recalled the armor to himself, which is shown in the second trailer as he suits up amidst the falling debris. While Tony is in the armor the mansion collapses into the sea and he is dragged down with it.[/BLACKOUT]

Not my pic, saw it somewhere. Thought some of you folks might like to see it as well.

Meh, I don't dig this condescending true-fan-or-not rhetoric and attitude.

And Paltrow's Pepper is great. :oldrazz:

Could be a sentimental thing. I personally am torn. I want to see the story continue, but at the same time, I want it to end when downey is done because i can't imagine anyone playing stark besides RDJ. Ive grown too attached to him

Amen. Though sadly...welcome to the internet. :(

I'm kind of iffy about Paltrow's ability as an actress (and yes I know she won an Oscar for Shakespeare in Love, although that should've been won by Meryl Streep that year), but I do think she did a pretty good job as Pepper, and her and RDJ have good chemistry with each other. If IM3 is Paltrow's last movie as Pepper, I'll be a bit disappointed.

I would be more than happy to see the character continue.
No actor is too big to kill off a good character, not one like this, with such a history and stories yet to be told.

We've seen loads of people play Batman and that continues.
We've seen loads of people play James Bond and that continues.

Why can't IronMan, sure RDJ is good, but he isn' the be all and end all of it.

Give the character a break for a few years then re-introduce him with a new actor.

If you call yourself a fan you shouldn't want it to end after 6 appearances (if he is doing Avengers 2,3) your not really a fan, just a film fan, or RDJ fan.

That's trolling at its finest.

That's trolling at its finest.

That word is thrown around far too much!

Please do explain why you think my opinion on thing is "trolling"

I'm sorry that I have read and collected comics for 15years and think that the character and stories are due more of a life on screen, far longer than on actors contract.

No, no, it's fine that you think that the character and stories are due more life on screen, that I have no problem with. In fact, I think the same.

My issue is with the fact that you are saying that to be a fan of Iron Man you MUST think the same. So much for having opinions.

Ok maybe so I just think if you've read any of the comics you'd also want more of Tony/IM, Marvel know what the character means to the fans (both comic and MCU only) they wouldn't recast unless they felt it was the right thing to do.

I can see RDJ staying around as a producer or even co-director, after the role, as it's clear he loves the character and company.

RDJ did say that he thinks there are still a few things that need to be done with the character, so I would think that he would be open to still playing the role.

Preach it! The thing I think will stop further IM movies is Downey's age and willingness to carry on.
