Persona Q English character trailers: Yukiko and Shinjiro
Published 6 hours ago. 0 comments.
Prim and proper, and stoic and strong.
PQ-Trailers_09-25-14.jpg

The latest set of character trailers for Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth introduce Yukiko Amagi and Shinjiro Aragaki.
Persona 4‘s Yukiko “excels in back-line support with her ranged fan attacks and the fire and healing spells from her Persona Konohana Sakuya,” according to Atlus. But her frailness means you’ll need a proper sub-Persona to complement her low HP.
Persona 3‘s Shinjiro Aragaki, on the other hand, is a “is a strong, front-line brawler” with the philosophy of “talk soft and carry a big mallet.” His Persona Castor allows him to perform “devastating physical attacks.”
Watch both clips below. The 3DS dungeon RPG is due out on November 25 in North America and November 28 in Europe.

Following the Persona 4 story trailer for Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth, Atlus today released a Persona 3 story trailer, as well as character trailers for Persona 3‘s Junpei Iori and new character Zen.
Junpei, or as Atlus describes him, “da man himself,” and uses his Persona Hermes and Agi-based attacks to make for a solid front-line damage dealer. Zen, on the other hand, along with his partner Rei, makes a solid back-line character who excels at ranged damage with his crossbows.

Persona Q Premium and Limited edition final designs, Ken and Naoto English character trailers
Published 3 hours ago. 9 comments.

Limited edition limited to pre-orders and first-print copies.
Atlus has released the final retail designs and two more character trailers for Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth.
The 3DS dungeon RPG will be available in Premium and Limited editions when it launches next month.

The $79.99 “Wild Cards” Premium edition includes a copy of the game, 11 tarot cards (Set #2), soundtrack CD, 38-page art book, and 3DS XL case. The $49.99 Limited Edition, which is limited to pre-orders and first-print copies, includes a copy of the game, 11 tarot cards (Set #2), and a collectible box.
Catch the new trailers below, with official Atlus descriptions attached. The game is due out for 3DS in North America on November 25 and Europe on November 28.
Ken Amada

[YT]bj7k2zGAeTM[/YT]
Persona 3’s young but reliable Ken Amada and Persona 4’s calm and collected Naoto Shirogane make their bow in two new character trailers. Anyone else curious as to how the youngest SEES plays his role at Yasogami High School? Let’s see if he can put up a good fight…
Don’t be deceived by his tiny physique, because Ken has some powerful spells up his sleeves. His Persona, Nemesis, has a versatile set of spells, relying on lightning based attacks and instant-kill light attacks. He also gets access to Recarm early for reviving his fallen allies. His spells and spear can both hit from the back row, so that’s where you’ll want to keep him… you can’t cast Recarm when he’s knocked out, after all. Since casting is his bread and butter, matching Ken with a magic-heavy sub-Persona that can add additional elements to his arsenal is a good strategy, or finding a good healing Persona to turn him into more of a utility back-liner.
Naoto Shirogane

[YT]09UshjIWmzQ[/YT]
You don’t get the title “Detective Prince” by being a crappy shot. Naoto’s revolver brings the heat from the back line with powerful ranged attacks, complimented by both the light and dark instant kill spells, Hama and Mudo. Though Hama and Mudo are always risky, her Persona Sukuna-Hikona having one of the highest base luck stats will tip chances in your favor. Like Ken, a good caster sub-Persona is key to unlocking Naoto’s spell-dependent attacks, especially when she unlocks Megido, a powerful almighty spell.

Persona Q: Teddie and Yukari English character trailers, Premium Edition art book preview

PQ_10-21-14.jpg

Another week, another set of Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth English character trailers. This time, we meet Persona 4‘s Teddie and Persona 3‘s Yukari Takeba.
Additionally, Atlus has released a preview of the 38-page, full-color art book included with “The Wild Cards” Premium Edition of the game, featuring character designs by Shigenori Soejima. View that over at Issuu.
Catch both trailers, with descriptions from Atlus, below.
Teddie

[YT]_PvmZfNieKI[/YT]
Junes’ best mascot isn’t just adorable, but bear-y strong! Teddie needs to keep things up close and bear-sonal in the front row to shred enemies with his claws. His ice-based magic get quite useful as he can deal AOE damage to multiple targets fairly early. Eventually, he’ll pick up the revival spell Recarm too, which makes him even more valuable to a party composition. As a solid spell caster/damage dealer, finding a good sub-Persona with a few high damage abilities can help Teddie make the most of his high luck stat, getting critical hits when you need them most.
Yukari Takeba

[YT]-Iyq7kEo6L4[/YT]
With her high magic stat and healing skills on hand, Yukari excels as a dedicated support in any team composition. Make sure she’s protected in the back line, so she can dish out wind and physical damage thanks to her Persona Io and her deadly bow! With some customization of her Sub-Personas, though, she can be a real threat on the battlefield thanks to her immense raw magic ability. Just make sure to keep an eye on the amount of SP she has left!

Persona Q's Wild Cards edition packs in a 3DS XL hard case

We're one month away from reuniting with Persona 3 and Persona 4's leads in the 3DS' Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth, but Atlus isn't quite done tempting us with special-edition treats. While Persona Q's Limited Standard Edition will pack Tarot Card Set #2 (the first set can be earned via Persona 4 Arena Ultimax) in with the game for a combined total of $49.99, The Wild Cards Premium Edition gets a little more fancy.

In addition to Set #2, Wild Cards Premium Edition offers up a CD of tunes from the game, a hard case for the 3DS XL featuring Persona Q's cast, and a 38-page artbook, which you can flip through a sample of. The Premium Edition will go for $79.99 and, like the Limited Standard Edition, can be found at Amazon, GameStop and other select retailers.

A refresher of what Persona Q's demon-battling gameplay looks like can be viewed after the break, in which Persona 3's Yukari Takeba finds wholesome reasons to fight before getting some practice in with her bow.

Persona Q: Fusion tutorial video, Elizabeth, Margaret, Marie, and Theo English character trailers
Published 1 min ago. 0 comments.

3DS dungeon RPG just under a month away from release.
PQ_10-30-14.jpg

Atlus’ latest media blast for Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth introduces the game’s “Fusion” system as well as the characters representing Persona 3 and 4‘s Velvet Room.
Watch the videos below, complete with Atlus-provided descriptions. The 3DS dungeon RPG is due out in North America on November 25 and in Europe on November 28.
Fusion Tutorial

[YT]EqM1tP3y6H8[/YT]

In Persona Q, “Fusion” is the process of combining two or more Personas in order to create a new stronger one. Though this has been a feature in previous the Persona titles, Margaret has a new technique up her sleeves.
Elizabeth

[YT]CYbsw0y8r3Q[/YT]
When your party’s health levels are low, you might want to consider visiting the Nurse’s Office. Elizabeth will cure even the deepest of wounds, but it comes with a price, of course. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, you can also go to her for any quests provided by her or other characters within the game.
Margaret

[YT]gSIXU-uCouc[/YT]
Margaret spends most of her time in the Velvet Room. She can help you and your party out by handling all the Fusion process and strengthening your Personas. You can go to her for XP boosts or skill extraction for any Personas as well.
Marie

[YT]ywS7nbbIRGc[/YT]

Marie does what Marie does best; chewing gum and writing awful poems. Okay, maybe she does more than that. She actually handles all the StreetPass functionality made possible on the 3DS. You can thank her for any exchanges of Personas that occur with your fellow Persona Q players.
Theo

[YT]xBi3MnqoZoE[/YT]

Theodore is mainly in charge of running the Workshop, where you can purchase various weapons and items. You can also sell him any materials dropped by Shadows, so he can weld them into more weapons, armors, and items. The best part of visiting his Workshop though, is seeing him in his lovely pink apron. Oh, you’ll get a glimpse of it soon.

Published 3 mins ago. 11 comments.

Key visual introduces Ryoji Mochizuki.
The next Persona 3 movie is titled Persona 3 the Movie #3: Falling Down and will hit Japanese theaters in spring 2015, Atlus announced.
P3-Movie-3-Titled.jpg

The movie features the arrival of Ryoji Mochizuki (pictured in the new key visual above), a “mysterious transfer student” in the same class as Makoto (protagonist) and friends. He has a bright personality and can easily approach women, but Aigis becomes vigilant of him after their first meeting.
Here’s a introduction to the movie, via Atlus:
“Somehow or another, I knew—you’re afraid of losing, aren’t you?”
The season is fall. The Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad’s battle against the strange “Shadows” is nearing its close.
To bring the “Shadow Hour” to an end, Makoto and friends must battle the Shadows once again.
Through these battles, some face the deaths of friends and family, some become aware of the important things they must protect, and some must find meaning in the battles they’ve fought so far.
And then, a new transfer student named Ryoji Mochizuki appears in Makoto’s class—.
As a new morning is welcomed, the gears of fortune once again begin to turn, and the battle surrounding each relatinship begins—.

Thanks, Famitsu.

Persona Q: Party forming video, Fuuka, Kanji, Koromaru, and Rise English character trailers
Published 1 hour ago. 0 comments.

3DS dungeon RPG less than two weeks away from launch.
PQ_11-06-14.jpg

This week’s Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth media blasts includes English character trailers for Persona 3‘s Fuuka and Koromaru, Persona 4‘s Kanji and Rise, and an introduction to party forming.
In Persona Q, players can build their own party of characters from Persona 3 and 4. You can mash them together or stick to a game-based team, it’s your choice. There are a total of 20 characters to choose from with five usable per battle. Your party must be set before entering a labyrinth, otherwise you’ll have to leave to try a new lineup.
Watch the videos below, complete with Atlus-provided descriptions. The 3DS dungeon RPG is due out in North America on November 25 and in Europe on November 28.
Party Forming

[YT]hIHcIRZRzGU[/YT]
Fuuka Yamagishi

[YT]WHpXm55-AYQ[/YT]
Fuuka, the labyrinth navigator from P3 is a strong battle navigator to start off with, since her Healing Breeze spell refreshes the whole party for three turns, and eventually learns a passive that lets the team regen health and SP!
Kanji Tatsumi

[YT]oydSknmunzI[/YT]
I’ll bash you good! The brash Kanji is back as a front-line brawler with his trusty metal chair. He has high HP for brutal physical attacks and his Persona Take-Mikazuchi gives him lightning elemental attacks. A high HP sub-Persona works well for Kanji, but it’s up to you if you want to make him an all-out damage dealer or a tank with defensive abilities.
Koromaru

[YT]WiQyBU9kFDc[/YT]
Koro! KORO! Sooooo fluffy! The adorable canine Persona-user from Persona 3 is back and cuter than ever in Persona Q! But despite his cute looks, Koro is a highly competent frontline fighter, either through slashing attacks or assaulting with Fire and Dark magic from his Persona Cerberus. Koromaru is a strong attacker, either through magic abilities or physical attacks, so it’s up to your play-style to determine what kind of sub-Persona to use.
Rise Kujikawa

[YT]rbRp1yQHuS4[/YT]
Rise is no stranger to the spotlight and uses those skills to help out her teammates! Her support abilities can manipulate turn order, and let a team member go first — either to land a crucial killing blow or get off a quick heal to save the entire party.

I'm intrigued by this game, but I've never played any other game in the franchise? Would I be absolutely lost playing this? Or is it more standalone?

Can someone explain the tarot cards to me? I was gonna surprise my girlfriend with this and i want to make sure i get her the right package.

Not standalone. It's a crossover of two games in the series.

Can someone explain the tarot cards to me? I was gonna surprise my girlfriend with this and i want to make sure i get her the right package.

I think they're just a bonus with the collector's edition or whatever.

So I'd be pretty lost in the story then?
no you won 't it's a story of it's own . it's a cross over &a story of it's own.

but I suggest you play the games or see the anime's if some how you can't get those some how. but you should be able to find the ames 4 golden especially when it comes out there's a OVA movie of it on the way as well besides the 3 movie which I put above. They will have the same voice actor's from the game too.

This answers "Matt Mortem" question about needing the other installments to understand this one . as I said it happen & it's canon as they said but it's also it's own thing storywise / it's a self contained story. As it been said below in the video.

Persona Q: How Does It Hold Up As An Etrian Odyssey Experience?. November 20, 2014 . 1:01pm

Persona Q smoothens out the basic Etrian Odyssey formula without removing anything that makes it fun.

Persona Q is a game a foot in two worlds. It is influenced by developer Atlus’ most and least progressive RPG franchises. Persona games tend to place a heavy emphasis on narrative and characterization to the point that the most recent installments adopted dating-sim-like gameplay for much of the experience. Meanwhile, Etrian Odyssey made its name as a throwback first-person dungeon crawler that has negligible narrative content but takes advantage of the lack of defined characters to give the player granular control over the development of the their team and experience.

These very different franchises have attracted different sorts of fans. As someone who appreciates both, I’ll be covering the game from both angles. This first writeup concerns how Persona Q stacks up as an Etrian Odyssey experience.

Probably the most significant change between Persona Q and Etrian Odyssey is how the game will go out of its way to keep the player out of trouble. If you try to enter a dungeon without a Goho-M (ariadne thread equivalent) the game will stop remind you. If you’re having trouble once inside a dungeon, you can toggle the difficulty down at will. You still unlock items by selling the dropped loot needed to craft them to the vendor, but you no longer use that loot up in creating the item. So if you get the one angel wing you need for new armor, you can buy that armor for every member of the party.

By and large I think that these changes are for the best. These are changes that smooth the basic Etrian Odyssey formula without removing anything that makes it fun. There are a few things that I found to go too far, though. I really don’t need a character pointing out every time I walk by a treasure chest or a secret passage. And warning me after every single battle when someone got low on health? That’s downright condescending. I’m not blind; these things are clearly visible and I’ll take care of them myself. Ultimately, though, these are small presentational quibbles, and if they really bug you there’s nothing stopping you from just turning off the voices in the options like I did.

Player babysitting aside, once you’re inside a dungeon this is a rock solid Etrian Odyssey-style spelunking experience. The dungeons look great for one thing—the surprisingly accomplished 3D engine Atlus rolled out for Etrian Odyssey IV looks better than ever here, and for once, the environments being rendered aren’t just fantasy staple settings. Some of the dungeons look downright trippy and are influenced by the artistic style of the Persona games in the best way.

The combat is the game’s greatest triumph, though. Etrian Odyssey has never had bad combat, but it’s always been very straightforward. It’s a blank sheet of paper on which the player’s decisions and customized characters play out to paint harrowing pictures of close escapes and triumphs against overwhelming odds. Persona Q by comparison doesn’t give the player nearly as much control over the party (characters level up gaining predetermined stats and abilities just like in Persona), but has a more dynamic set of systems within the combat screen.

Though you cannot decide what skills a character will learn or when, you CAN assign them a “sub Persona” that will give them additional skills and an HP/MP boost. The trick is that the sub-Persona boosts only apply in battle and refresh every battle. So in practice the bonus HP and MP at the end of a character’s meter are free resources to spend to win a fight, and those points are always spent first. Hitting enemy weaknesses doesn’t give bonus turns in this game like in Persona, but they do make the skills used on the next turn free (assuming the character isn’t damaged before taking their next turn).

This system leads to all sorts of interesting decisions. Do I want to put a high SP sub persona on Junpei since he has a low mana pool? Or do I put a high HP sub persona on him so he can spam his HP burning physical attacks that he has naturally? Is it better to put a sub persona on a character to give them more elemental options in their kit or is it worth putting a sub-persona on with skill redundancies for superior point boosts? Is it worth it to dip into Chie’s HP pool driving her down to dangerously low HP in order to ensure that her next attack can come for free? Do I risk waiting an extra turn in battle to heal so that I can use the free sub persona mana, or do I play it safe and wrap the battle up now and heal outside dipping into my precious non-renewable character mana?

Basically, it’s great. The emphasis on identifying and exploiting enemy weaknesses is there from Persona, but the limited disposable health and mana point pools given to the characters makes each battle a balancing act between what’s most effective against the enemies at hand and what can be cast without incurring permanent point loss. It’s not Etrian Odyssey combat, it’s better.

And at the end of the day, what else does an Etrian Odyssey game need? Interesting dungeons to map out, combat encounters that require the player pay attention for fear of death, and time spent staring at numbers as you figure out what to do with your party before tackling the next floor. The game does baby you along a little bit, but it’s never at the expense of a satisfying dungeon crawling experience. If you’re looking for a new Etrian Odyssey game and especially if you’re a little less than thrilled with the line of remakes that have been announced in lieu of an original Etrian Odyssey V, I think that the stylistically and mechanically distinct Persona Q will do nothing but please.

Food for thought:

1. Another thing I didn’t need—guidelines showing me where to draw nearby walls on the bottom screen. Back in my day, we squinted at the top screen, counting tiles out if we wanted to map a wall we weren’t directly adjacent.

2. Most of the time when a review code is sent out the publisher invites writers who get need help to contact them. I’ve always ignored those offers in the past, but I’ll freely admit that I had to cry uncle and contact Atlus for this one. The last puzzle in the third dungeon is an absolute doozy. Once I had it explained to me I thought it was really smart but… you should feel lucky that when you folks get there you’ll have online walkthroughs available.

3. Etrian Odyssey veterans will want to bump the battle speed up at least one setting, if not two. The pictures of personae being summoned when you cast skills slow the battles down criminally. I found that the middle setting (it defaults to the slowest speed out of three) was a good speed for most things and the fastest speed I reserved for grinding.
