what would yall think about a movie with phantasm in it? i think it would be pretty cool to see a movie like the phantasm movie and have black mask kinda replace the role of the joker from that one

^ The BTAS Phantasm absolutely destroys the comic book version. It's not even a comparison.

I respectfully disagree.

The BTAS Phantasm to me was certainly not as interesting as Judson Caspian's Reaper. The parallels between him and Batman make him a valid physical threat as well as a psychological one.

EDIT: *Hell, even practically, having the bad guy turn out to be a woman may have worked in the animated series but in live action an average size woman is not going to believably pass for a 6 foot plus man.*

i think that phantasm would very well right now. modsters are stArting to be killed, batman is being blamed because the public thinks he killed the ones at the end of tdk, gordan doesnt know if batman is killing these or not becasue it is harder for him to contact him. bruce meets a new girl andrea (no past between them, wouldnt fit in with bruce's already thorough background) with everything going to hell with batman it is nice for bruce to have andrea, but he doesnt know that andrea's background includes links to blackmask, the new head man of the gotham mafia. everything comes crashing down at the end for bruce when he realizes andrea is phantasm. will he ever be able to trust again?

Not bad, not bad at all. I would still like to see one of Batman's more familiar foes mixed in there, like The Penguin.

ya it could be kind of like the flashbacks from phantasm as they are happening. blackmask was in business with andrea's father, how great of a scene would that be at the end with andrea saying "they took everything from us bruce", to me this is definately the direction the movies should go

I agree about Penguin. He deserves a place at the table, you just can't build a film around him.

There was a post on another site re the idea of Riddler being a consultant the cops hire to hunt down the Batman, but he has his own agenda re The Batman. (Talk about desperate people turning to a man they don't fully understand.) I like that idea. I can see him even getting Scarecrow out of Arkham for that purpose, because 'Batman will find him'. And I can see Riddler cutting side deals with crooked cops who have it in for Batman, while Gordon has misgivings, but Riddler is forced on him by the mayor, who is under political pressure.

In this sort of situation, I see Penguin playing some side/small role as a facilitator. This introduces the character.

TDK was so rich I think it's now fairly straightforward to take the story to the next stage.

Wow, i really like that idea, alot. Get Winslet as Andy and we're set!

Deadshot, Lock-Up and The Wrath are also similar characters you could use

I wouldn't want Phantasm because to me that has to be Andrea Beumont. Then you have to have subplots the romance, flashbacks to their youth, hiding their secret identities, her origin and her father etc etc

I like the idea that an Arkham Security guard got gassed in Batman Begins, sees the vigilantes getting their arses kicked in TDK and thinks "that's not right", gets some military gear of his own and starts ambushing mobsters

Deadshot was also a vigilante before Batman told him Gotham was a one-man-town and put him in jail. He used to wear a tuxedo and top hat. A contest between two equal vigilantes could be cool

yeah but when it comes down to it, so what. Nolan could do whatever he wanted with him I think

So, are you saying that, although the GK tie-in is officially set in between BB and TDK; it can just be ignored?

That kind of negates the point of making GK, doesnt it? What's the point of making it if the events that happen in it are only going to be disregarded?

I think you could follow the story fairly well, replacing the Mob guy in the movie (forget his name) with Black Mask or Thorne, Phantasm with Catwoman and the Joker with someone like Bane, Deadshot or Hush.

TDK didn't mention anything about the Scarecrow running a cult in the sewers did it? Maroni never acted like he just finished warring the Chechens either, he was actually pals with them.

the films and the DVD are still seperate in some regards. I don't think Nolan would let it stand in his way, neither would WB. the number of people who will see the DVD are only a fraction compared to the number that will see Batman3.

see to me that is a good thing, besides the flashbacks taht wouldnt work with the background that nolan has given us. let bruce think this is it, they get engaged and whatnot then have it all stripped away at the end when she is the villian he has been after all along

#4 could have catwoman, a love intrest for batman and not bruce

Please no. There are so many better stories out there than The Phantasm. So many great villains with decades of comic history, lets not waste time with someone like that.

ha what problems do u have with phantasm

Like I said, it's kind of a boring story. There are so many better villains, and it feels wrong to not use the classics like Riddler, Penguin, and Catwoman, in favor of a character that never even appeared in the comics.

With someone like Riddler or Catwoman, you can take their decades of stories, and combine elements of all of it to come up with something original, yet true to the character. But with Phantasm, you only have one story to work with, so by including the character you're basically just retelling that one story. Last thing I want BB3 to be is a live action version of MotP.

No love for Phantasm then;

What's your opinion on the Reaper as a character, Katsuro?

Never read Year Two. But basically, most of my argument would be the same. I said the same thing in the thread about Hush. I'm against using characters that are tied to one, specific story. I'd rather he use classic villains, that he can take and work into his own, original story.

Also, there's the marketing angle. People aren't gonna be excited about The Reaper like they are Riddler and Catwoman.
