Phase 3 Release Schedule Finalized

Who was it that really wanted to do a Runaways movie? I remember it being mentioned a bunch of times awhile ago, but not recently.

http://www.superherohype.com/news/309749-marvel-studios-adds-yet-another-movie-to-2018

Given the addition of the May 4, 2018 date, my guesses:

PHASE THREE:
July 17, 2015: Ant Man
May 6, 2016: Captain America 3
July 8, 2016: Dr. Strange
May 5, 2017: Thor 3
July 28, 2017: Guardians Of The Galaxy 2
November 3, 2017: Black Panther
May 4, 2018: Avengers 3

PHASE FOUR (so far):
July 6, 2018: Captain Marvel
November 2, 2018: Ant Man 2
May 3, 2019: Dr. Strange 2

There is a 10-month gap in the announced schedule (between 7/8/16 and 5/5/17). That feels like a long time, given the frequency of these releases. I wouldn't be surprised to see a November 2016 date announced this week.

Well, I got one right so far... :funny:

kinda disappointed nothing else was announced. But we'll hear them all eventually

We may see some news trickle out over the course of the next year, but I'm guessing they'll save the official Phase III announcement for next year.

feige says he likes the model of doing sequels while introducing one new movie each year.

i am assuming avengers 3 will be in 2018 b/c feige did say he was thinking 3 years before that one.

so we have 2 in 2015 (avengers 2, new - antman)
we have 2 in 2016
we have 3 in 2017 (guardians 2)
we have 3 in 2018

so that means there are 5 sequels in that stretch (2016-2018). two of those sequels will be guardians and avenegers. that leaves 3 sequels.

there will also be 3 new movies (2016-2018). 1 of them will most likely be strange.

it's anyones guess what those other movies will be.

I get the impression the big things would have been announced had contracts been finalized. Unfortunately, they obviously have not been.

I think so too, as next year Phase 2 will end with AoU.

Just realized... I think this is the third Comic Con in a row that they've announced Ant-Man-related stuff. Next year's con will be about a week before its release.

I'm glad we have a date for GotG2.

That just leaves 2 untitled movies between now and GotG2.

I bet Marvel is still negotiating the details of Dr. Strange, Iron Man 4 and Thor 3 but two of those three movies will take up those two spots.

I'm surprised that they didn't announce Dr. Strange as the July 8, 2016 release since its pretty much a foregone conclusion that that is what'll be.

Well probably get another movie unvealed before next comic con.

The other 2016 release.

Yeah, Dr. Strange info will probably come out sooner XD

But the non-GoTG 2 2017 releases and 2018 releases will have to wait until next year.

I would have thought that Dr. Strange was going to be announced.

Marvel seems to be playing their cards a bit closer to their chest than they were two years ago.

By next year's comic con, they'll probably be filming Cap 3, and we'll already have Dr. Strange confirmed. We'll probably get a confirmation on whatever casting rumors will have sprung up by then, and probably a first-look at some footage. Basically, what we got this year for Ant-Man, we will get next year for Strange.

So the first 2017 movie wasn't announced but the second was? Why not just confirm that it's Thor 3 in May which we all know it is just to get it over with.

The last 2017 movie is probably Captain Marvel, then 2018 will bring Hulk 2, Black Panther and Inhumans. Like Feige has mentioned Black Panther back in 2006. We have enough release dates that one film is going to be BP. Just announce a release date already so we can at least say thank you!

I don't think they'll wait until 2019 for A3. That most certainly will be in the May 2018 slot.

They need to save some announcements for comic-con 2015.

Just showing Cap 3 footage won't be enough.

I do find it odd that they didn't announce the films that will be released in the July 2016 and May 2017 slots, but announced GOTG2 for July 2017. We'll probably know by the end of the year, but it's still probable that July 2016 will be Dr. Strange and May 2017 will be Thor 3.
