now this one isn't so exciting... and not nearly so cool as mattchew's christmas card design, but my mum asked me to design a christmas card for her, i'm not crazy on jesus worship [don't get me wrong, he was obviously an amazing HUMAN BEING and the Bible is a great BOOK but i find the supernatural elements a little too much to swallow] but i love the style of the greek and russian icons so i wanted to try and emulate that. anyway, here's the result.

I like your coloring technique and color palettes, it really brings everything together. The blue in the x-mas card however seems a little too vibrant for the rest of the image.

thanks for the comment, you might be right but in fact i took that straight from a russian icon i was referencing and to my mind it fits the mood of the piece... the kind of paints they would have had access to at the time etc.

truly beautiful stuff. love the nice touches like the stylized hands and her bone structure... the nose in particular. great color palette too, btw.
