Apologies for the vague and useless thread title, but I couldn't think of a decent way to word it.

Aaanyways, basically I have taken the original Phoenix Vs Xavier clip and edited it together with the "psychic voices" deleted scene. Basically I put the psychic voices over the original clip. I find it actually works rather well, and does make it a bit more obvious what is going on. I understood when I first saw it that the pair were psychicly battling as well as Jean slipping away and Phoenix emerging and overpowering Xavier, but a lot of people didn't get it.

Nice work but I think it's a bit too much, the score, the sound effects and the voices combined. I'm happier with what we got in the movie tbh, I think the silence between Xavier and Phoenix is more powerful and ultimately has a stronger emotional impact.

oh my god, that was AMAZING! :) Great work... That would have been much better! I would have been so much happier, it would be so much more faithful to the comics and show how the phoenix takes over, although Jean is stilll there! It also gives her so much of a voice... ".. I am power... I am phoenix!" :( :)

^I disagree completely. I thought the scene was much better executed without any dialogue; like Storm22 said, the silence is much more powerful and still has the emotion behind it.

Still, cool vid! :)

Very cool video, much better atempt at this than some of the others I've seen.

But I agree that the scene we got in the real cut of the film is much better. What exactly is all said between Phoenix/Jean/Xavier psyhically some of it's hard to make out.

Great job Mothling! I am torn though ... not sure if I like it more with or w/o the voices....

I agree. And this is after I made several edits to the aduio track so as the "psychic" voices were more audible. The "I am Phoenix" line sounded completely mute, I had to up the volume for that line by upto 4 times.

I must agree with most of you though, the silent scenario is much more emotionaly powerful and much more mature filmmaking. Sadly though, the silent battle did confuse a lot of people, and I found myself having to explain to many of my friends what was going on there. I think having the voices over it would have lost some of the emotional tension but would have 'cleared the fog' for a lot of people as to what was playing out.

Great video, but I do think it is too much and I prefer what we got. Although I would have loved the line "I am Phoenix" somewhere in the final cut. :(

Dude that ROCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even tho I like the silent version I still got chills up my spine!!!!! That v.o. gave the Phoenix development. it showed her resentment towards Charles for keeping her "caged" and it reminded me of the comic version......good job!!!!!!!!!!!! U kno sumtimes directors/writer's dont kno what their talkin 'bout that was good. I guess its up 2 the fans to give us what we want.....

I think a potentially good place to have that "I am Phoenix" line would be just after Phoenix kills Cyclops and it shows everyone hearing psychic (Cyclops screaming?) voices in the mansion, then cut the the professor and have him hear "I am Phoenix" and then say to Storm and Wolverine "Get to Alkali Lake!"

^^
I agree I thought it was really good. I dunno which version I like "better" tho cuz I like both, without and without, but I like cherry and apple pie too both are good so hey--but i think u did a great job on the sound volume etc! :D now combine it with someones pheonix effect upgrades and see what that looks and sounds like!! :D

While I do prefer the silent version (except maybe the "I am Phoenix" line), this is the best mix of this scene so far. Nice job.

This is a cool idea but I liked it better without the voices. It packs a punch either way but still the voices seem like more interference with the score and eveything else going on.

Am I the only one who can faintly hear Jean go ''God, what are you doing?"

triplefive! :D

I personally believe the "I am Phoenix" line to be very bizzarely placed within that scene. It just seems to have been inserted randomly and not at a particularly poignant part.

If I were to insert that line somewhere, I would have had it during the "slow-down" moment. Phoenix raises her arms into the air, everything slows down almost to a grinding halt. Xavier looks at her and pleas "Jean, don't let it control you." To which she replies. "Not Jean. I am Phoenix." Then BOOM!

I havent heard that bit personally. Which part can you hear it? You can hear a lot fo the echoing voices much more clearly on the deleted scene itself without all the background noise and score.

One line I do hear repeated a few times is "I won't let you do this to me again." and "I am power, forever."

It sounds as if right when Xavier is lifted from his chair, Jean says ''My god what are you gonna do to him?"

I just watched the scene alone, listening intently. The Jean/Phoenix psychic dialogue goes as follows, italics meaning the lower echoes which seem to reveal a confrontation between Jean and Phoenix going on too, surprisingly. Note Phoenix saying 'I am already inside your mind' and Jean saying 'I won't let you inside my mind'. Jeans could be directed at Charles but it would be interesting if it were a reply to the Phoenix. Also, Phoenix reiterates 'I am more powerful than you' whenever Jean speaks, as though she is confirming it to Jean too as in 'back off, i have always been more powerful than you, Jean.'

Xavier: I can help you control it.

Jean: Leave me alone, Charles. I won't let you do this to me again.

Jean: Stay out of my head.

Xavier: Jean! Let me in!

Jean: You're just making it worse.

----

Xavier: You will destroy everything you love if you don't let me help you.

Phoenix: I am more powerful than you.

Jean: I'm slipping, Professor...

Xavier: Phoenix! I want you to stop this!

Phoenix: I am more powerful than you!

Phoenix: I am already inside your mind.

Phoenix: I have always been more powerful than you.

Jean: I won't let you in my mind.

----

Phoenix: You always knew this day would come.

Xavier: Let me in!

Phoenix: I won't let you do this to me again.

Xavier: Bring Jean back or suffer the consequences.

Jean: You left me there.

Xavier: Stop this now. I can see past these defences.

Phoenix: I am more powerful than you.

Xavier: Let Jean be herself again!

Phoenix: You set in motion this chain of events.

----

Phoenix: I am power.

Xavier: You can't control your power.

Xavier: I can help you.

Phoenix: You've known of me forever.

Phoenix: I am Phoenix.

wow...its deep. Though i prefer the silence, it would be nice if they had this dialogue before she goes crazy...it truly shows how confused she is, how powerful Phoenix is, and how Professor really wanted to bring Jean back.

She doesn't say 'I'm slipping Professor'. She says 'Your slipping Professor'.

She actually says "I'm slipping Professor" ,that's Jean. It's actually good dialogue but it would be too much for that scene.
