In that end scene it wasn't Wolverine vs. The Phoenix... it was Jean against Logan... did anyone else think that scene was FNING AWESOME?!?! I mean God the man's flesh is getting torn up and he keeps moving toward her... showing his love for her obviously i thought that was the single greatest shot/scene i had ever seen out of the 3 x-men films... the same goes for when Xavier dies and Wolverine is using his claws to climb around and he sees Xavier go.. I was obsessed with those two scenes they make me want to see it again!

I hated Logan vs Jean...it was so underwhelming and rushed

Yes, the scene with Wolverine and Phoenix was pretty awesome.

But it was a bittersweet experience.

The scene itself was awesome, but it should have been Cyclops marching towards Phoenix. Afterall, Jean does love Scott, not Logan.

It was a great scene, but an utter slap in the face to X-Men fans.

Bitter ****ing sweet.

the scene was fine but as ALL of my friends pointed out...exactly why does Logan "love" Jean??? Sure he had the hots for her, but did their relationship in the first two films really amount to "love" for someone like Wolverine???

i thought it was cool. curious as to how it would have worked with cyclops. i didn't really like when he said he loved her, even though i know he does, i felt that would have worked better with cyclops saying that. maybe if they did some wierd harry potter meets dragonbal z thing and had prof x spirit and cyclops spirit enter wolfy and then combine their powers to kill her. oh well..

what ever..

No, with Wolverine in it, it made it better because he LOVES her throughout the entire movie hell Logan showed more love for her than Scott did throughout the x-men films... it relates to a lot of people... like me i was in love with a girl who didnt love me and i would have gone far for her like he did

Yes I agree and also they made phoenix look like a girl......

oh and nice avy.

As an X-men fan, that was the single most revolting screen ever. Oh, Logan and Jean, "twue wove forevah and evah and evah." However, in the context of a blockbuster action-packed summer movie, the CGI was pretty cool.

Yea, that's part of the "bittersweetness"

Not only was it a slap in the face to X-Men fans everywhere, as it was a horrible conclussion to the Phoenix Saga, but it didn't make sense within the movies... Jean's love was made obvious for Scott at the end of X2... THAT'S the powerful love, not Logan and Jean.

And you're right, just what was there for Logan to "love"? He didn't know her that long. He was attracted to her in X-Men, and tried to make a move on it in X2, but there definatley wasn't a love there, and definatley not a reciprical one.

That final scene, as amazing as it was, is just bad in terms of adaptation, and bad in terms of story continuity.

That's because the script didn't let Scott SHOW his love for Jean, in any of the X-men movies. Honestly, just count the number of Logan/Jean scenes with the number of Scott/Jean scenes. The bias is obvious. Scott/Jean never stood a chance except to people well versed in X-men.

X3 was by far the worst adaptation. Characters were not like their comic counterparts in the least.....Xavier giving up on Scott and suggesting he wanted Storm to take over the school was the worst of the worst. Comic book Prof would never give up on Cyke.

Ya I was wating for him to say I cant do it jeanie like in the TAS and then have cyclops go and have a touching scene..........then she whould blow up. :D

Yeah, Cyclops was very much needed to really reach the depth of the Phoenix storyline. Without him it is so superficial and empty...what were they thinking?? :o

Im not much of a cyclops fan but I have to say that no one could lead them better then cyke(besides the prof).

I dont give two craps about whether or not it followed the comic. These movies arent the comics, we knew that from the get-go and we all knew that Wolverine would be made the star of the show...that said...theres still no reason at all given in the movies for him to be in love with her.

I actually prefer the Wolvie/Jean relationship to the Cykes/Jean one only because Cykes is about and dull as dishwater, and I believe deep down inside Jean, she's always want to be with Logan, but has always viewed it as the bad choice. The Wolvie/Jean relationship just has a lot more chemistry and it's a bit more believeable to me personally.

Being that the Phoenix is a part of Jean, and a deep alter-ego, it was only showing Jeans deepest desires, and that was to be with Logan.

I loved the scene, and thought it was powerful, but it was very much a slap (and a punch) in the face of X-Men fans. Jean chose Scott...she even said so in X2. Wolverine only knew Jean for days...not even weeks. Jean was going to marry Scott. Maybe 'SuperT' is right about Jean deepest desires in these films...i dunno...

It didn't really bother me as much though. Jean chose Scott in X-2 yes. But it's not like she changed her mind. And she still cares for Logan regardless. But Logan still loves Jean. Wolverine is still the only one who could get close enough to kill her regardless. And Jean knew he was the only one who could kill her.

But that's my opinion.

Agreed. The Scott/Jean relationship in the movies was weak from the very start. It's one of the reasons Scott's emotion when Jean dies at the end of X2 feels hollow and forced to me. Their relationship was barely established in X1 or X2.
