Comics Phoenix - Warsong

I thought it was a great read and suspenseful first issue;great setup for issue to come and clearly the best X-book read in a month...It now goes into the unknown three cuckoo sister and build on their new powers and adapting to them and also as the pheonix that was growing in them for months now.....It is actually was building on Cuckoo's emotions....the Cuckoo's actually go pheonix on the entire institute!!!!Pheobe and Mindee went all out crazy in this issue they are definetly the driving force!!! seems like the only heart left in the three is Celeste....she seems to hold the emotions of the three of what is wrong and right; the hold nuetral emotions that can come in handy for the X-men....
I gave it a 9/10..I could care less about the art....it was good enough and convincing to carry the new story line

I'm annoyed i walked all the way to the shop and they didn't have it, so ebay it is lol.

You'd expect the art for the long-awaited, five-issue sequel to ENDSONG to be not as distracting and blatantly obvious as a rubber duck. Frankly, it felt like an earlier issue of NXM.

That was only the first read, though. Perhaps the second read is needed.

However, the idea of a bird, PHOENIX, laying her eggs, CUCKOOS, inside the brood, X-MANSION, waiting to be hatched is quite clever, I must admit. Coincidence or not, I think it's ingenious.

Does anyone know when the full paperback will be out like all 5 in one book, I might just wait for that like i did with Endsong.

It's TBA, at this stage.

Well Ok, I might wait as the story is all together then. But I want to read it, oh I just go in the shop and read it lol.

I almost bought Warsong but instead I picked up a few issues of previous Uncanny X-Men. I only had issue #476 and 477. Now I have #'s 471-478. :) and I also picked up astonishing X-Men 16. lol. I looked through warsong and found it ...meh.

You should get DEADLY GENESIS if you haven't already just to get an insight in the current UNCANNY arc.

Yeah, I really need to read the current Uncanny arc because I *have* read Deadly Genesis.

Warsong #1 was okay -- the art in the book itself is much better than that awful cover. It was slow to start, but they did up the intrigue in the last few pages.

I'll buy the whole thing, because that's what I do, but I don't know if a Cuckoos arc could sustain my interest.

I have a few issues of that in the marvel selects. :)

It is very sad to know so... didn't the 1986 series finally get published in 1999ish as X-Men: True Friends? Or is that another past story that Claremont couldn't do in the past and then got approbal years later?

The main part of the unpublished Phoenix Limited was what happened to Rachel when she was trapped in Mojo world. (so between UXM 209 and Excalibur) But it also dealt with Rachel's past, esp. Franklin Richards, and a lot of that ended up in Days of Future Present.

Here's a few of the pages:

It was mentioned so many times in the letter pages back in 1986 and 1987 that many people don't understand that it never came out.

There's been a big effort to get it actually finished and published by the Rachel fans.

True Friends was a similar type limited that was written, penciled and but was never released, until Claremont came back and fought to get it released. Some of the pages leaked out before it was published and were confused with the first unpublished Phoenix limited.

Since Phoenix stories are all the rage now, hopefully Joe Q will remember that the Phoenix limited from '86 is still lying around and put it out.

Which shop do you go to in London?

I used to go the mall that has a variety store and they don't have much of a selection of X-men comics so yesterday I went downtown and went to an actual comicbook store and I have a membership there now :D Its the one on Dundas street just as u get off at Richmond. Heros and Comics is what its called. something like that.

My local comic book shop is maybe 45mins away lol, or this book shop sells comics but there not always there. I wish there was one closer.

I will try to get warsong next week since they didnt have it.

This first issue was good, but the art was a huge dissapointment when you compare it to Phoenix Endsong. I wish Land would have drawn Warsong too.

thats why I didn't pick it up. Plus im not that big into Emma. She's too much in this one. I'd rather read one that has all my fave x-men. :) well not all but some. :)

I think people are confusing PF with Jean. Jean is the physical avatar and the true host of the Phoenix. But other Omega psionics can still access it. They can be hosts, but the force will always be one with Jean Grey, but still it's accessible. Just view it as Jean's husband but he's polygamous BUT unbelievably only loyal to one and his first. Weird.

Does anybody out there remember when marvel acquired the rights to the malibu comics universe? Juggernaut, Sienna Blaze and the Reaper all crossed over to that Universe and joined The Exiles.....There was a Phoenix story involving one of the members of that team...I am thinkin Amber Hunt...whatever happened to that story detail and that character?

I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY ARE DOING THIS IF ULTIMATELY IT WON'T RESULT IN JEAN COMING BACK .
Personally Emma's not even good enough literally to host the phoenix force. We're forced to accept her contrived relationship with Scott but that in no way qualifies her to become part of the phoenix legacy. As a character she's not even in the same league as Jean.

The only thing redeemable in this story line is if the cookoos are used in a really creative unexpected way. It might even be cool if they were related to Jean hiding their connection to her from the Shiar. They don't have to be greys" what about her mother's side of the family?

Anyway I've got almost all recent issues of astonishing, this warsong and the uncanny's with lamea$$ Vulcan putting it on ebay soon anyone interested let me know.

As for Silvestri why are the men's crotches small triangles? Smaller than the women?!

I still want Jean back not as phonix tho- Marvel or somebody should have a contest to come up with a great new code name for Jean !
All the people who've ever hosted phoenix should all share the power and responsibility so we can get over the fact that it's too much for one person.(or even 3!) I'm hoping warsong plus the xmens travel to space ties it up with all that m'kran stuff. They are beating the phoenix concept to death! Jean is what we love not just the flaming bird!

Yeah Jean back new code name/costume,new man = hotter than ever.-by Christmas 2006

It would be great to see Jean back for more then 5mins and even if she doesn't have the phoenix it wont borther me, just having Jean alive and on the team would be great.

I bought issue #1 today...and I really liked it...its a pretty crazy story

Ok, I have and idea that I don't think has been mentioned. To go back to the thing brought up about the Cuckoos acting like real cuckoos, what if they aren't the ones acting like their bird counterparts? I saw it brought up elsewhere that it's actually the Phoenix Force that's acting like a cuckoo. At the end of Endsong, what if that little firefly was actually a fraction of the force, and it laid itself within the Cuckoos to try and grow back to its normal size? That would explain why that voice, in the same voice bubble used in Endsong that was used for the force's voice, was calling for the Cuckoos to stop, because it hadn't grow to it's full size yet, but they were still hatching it to use its power. Effectively turning the table and becoming the real cuckoos in the end. How's that sound?

I am certain that when Jean comes back (if she comes back anytime soon) we will see a different take on her. Perhaps a new environment, different supporting cast, new purpose, who knows. But Joe Quesada has said many times that he finds Jean boring and Emma infinitely more interesting, so I suppose It would require the right pitch, the right storyline and proper resonation with the X-Men fans and mythos for Quesada to bring Jean back. I mean, she's pretty much the only major example of Quesada sticking to the 'dead means dead' policy and I can't see him bringing her back without plenty of good ideas and reasons.

Yeah, I suppose I could summarise all that by saying: "I think if Jean comes back she will be different because Quesada thinks she's boring"

Then again, I am as certain of this as I was about Whedon not taking over Runaways. And well, I got that one deliciously wrong didn't I?

I brought it, it's ok. Emma made me laugh in some parts, but so far its like ok. I think it's because I find the Cuckoos a bit annoying really.
