Picking horror/thriller books for studio films

Spinning off another thread here. I'm within the "industry" at a top company, always looking for new possible exciting projects. My question to you is this: What's your favorite horror/thriller book? (Can include graphic novel)

If I (currently intern status) then the execs, VP agree - there's a chance your favorite book could become our next film. Company is high up with a-list stars, such as Robert Downey Jr. and Liam Neeson, meaning you'd be looking at a top of the line adaptation.

Figured I might throw this out there, could be a way of getting your voice/opinion heard.

Reliquary by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. A subplot involves the "mole people" of New York--underground communities of the homeless that live in old sewers, subway tunnels, etc. Also features some monsters and is a sequel novel to Relic. Both are in the Penderghast series, though the movie of Relic cut the character.

Still Life with Crows is another thriller with horror aspects I'd like to see adapted. Again a Preston-Child novel in the Penderghast series.

Almost anything of Lovecraft would be good but it's so difficult to properly adapt. But with the right studio willing to front the money to do it properly, it would be excellent to see.

Murders in the New York sewers/subway tunnels. Victims are hobos, vagabonds etc. No one cares. A wealthy female is murdered. Everyone starts caring and blames the vagabonds. Tensions flare between the homeless and the upper class as the murders continue. Special Agent Aloysius Pendergast and office Vincent D'Agosta find out that the murders are being committed by mutated humans called "wrinklers" that look vaguely human. I think there was some nut obsessed with something called fractal evolution that was orchestrating the wrinkler experiments.
