Ooh, how about:

(note to self: Throw holy water in my eyes for having read something a......EWWWWW...Christian posted.)

Really? There are some things I don't know much about Catholics, but I didn't know we had a different Bible. Hmm....in Christianity, all you have to do to go to heaven is accept God/Jesus into your heart, then follow him (obviously that's the very bare minimum and it's probably a good idea to more). What are the requirements in Catholicism (hope I didn't butcher that word)?

We have the same Bible. You know, Catholics were the very first Christians.

Christianity is like the United States and Catholicism is like a state. So you're not Catholic or Christian. If your're Catholic then yes, you're a Christian. Not all CHristians are Catholic, some are Protestant and othervariants of this.

In Catholicism, you have to go to church every week, give them money, treat the pope as you would God, hate gay people, look down upon other religions (pretty much all of them), not use birth control, follow the commandments to a T, confess your sins to some nosey old guy, and I think you're not allowed to masterbait either...

Then....you have a chance of getting into Heaven...but even then, its only about 50/50.

Sorry, for hijacking your thread, but why do you as a Catholic believe Jesus came to Earth?

The priest was going to tell us last week...but he said first we had to pass around the collection tray...I guess I didn't give enough, because those teenage bouncers in the white robes kicked me out before he would say :(

The same reason you as a Protestant believes he did. We have the same belief system buddy, we're not a differetnt religion, just a different denomination.

Yeah, I meant other parts of Christianity other than Catholics, but I mis-said it.

If you mean I shouldn't say bad things about Fred Phelps, what I meant was he's old, and old people have a higer chance of dying then younger people. And I'm not really gonna protest his funeral, just a joke. :O

heh yep.

The only difference is, we are snotty, stick up our ass, New England intellectuals and West Coast extremists, while you guys are southern, NASCAR watching, hillbillies.

But despite all of that...we need to team up against the real threat...the damn Mormons in Utah

To answer your question seriously, I believe Jesus came to earth to ensure that people could be cleansed of original sin and would earn a place in his Kingdom upon death.
